The party was in full swing. Dancing started at 8pm, but that was three hours ago.
Through the dim light, Bucky could see masses of bodies littering the dance floor. There were people crowded around the bar, and the music was so loud Bucky couldn't even hear his own thoughts.
Pepper tried to manage the party at first, but Tony was opposed to that idea. "It's your own birthday party, you can't manage it!" He exclaimed. "C'mon, it will only be for a few hours. The great Pepper Potts can take a break until then. I've double checked the guest list, no reporters or journalists." He coaxed, trying to convince her before the party.
Eventually Pepper agreed.
Bucky made his way through the swarm of bodies looking for Steve. He pushed his way through the crowd because he knew it would take forever to get his way through. 'Steve' he thought seeing him by the doors to the balcony, where many people were gathered. "Steve!" He yelled, barely being able to be head over the sound of the pounding music. "Buck?" Steve yelled back squinting at him. What he shouted next was inaudible over the thumping music. "Lets go outside" Bucky shouted. Steve nodded vigorously to show he understood. The two of them made their way outside to the balcony. Leaning on the railings Steve looked out at the view. He had always enjoyed it, it was a break from war torn cities and ruins of destruction. It was so peaceful.
"God my head hurts from the music," Bucky groaned, clutching his forehead.
"Well, it is a Stark party" Steve chuckled.
Since Steve couldn't get drunk, and it took a lot of alcohol to get Bucky drunk, both of them didn't drink, so they were one of the only ones who were sober. Bucky looked back through to the glass and into the party. The music was barely muffled. Then a thought occurred to him.
"Where's (Y/N)?" He asked. Surely Tony wouldn't have left her by herself. Steve looked thoughtful.
"I'm not sure. Do you want to go ask him?" He questioned. Bucky nodded and slid the glass door open. The cool air hit him as he walked back inside, the thumping music returning to his ears and the coloured light hit his eyes. He and Steve scanned their eyes around the room looking for him, when a pair of flashy orange glasses caught his eye. Steve tugged on Bucky's shirt. "That way," he mouthed while pointing at the bar. Steve and Bucky struggled to get to the bar, it seemed as if the number of people increased, if that was even possible.
Steve, being the polite man he was, kept on stopping to let people pass in front of him. They were crawling at a snail's pace trying to reach Tony. Bucky looked around exasperatedly seeing Tony about to leave the bar. They were trying pass through the middle of the dance floor when Bucky had enough. He growled and snatched Steves arm and began to aggressively push his way through people knocking them over. "Hey! what's your problem!" one the the drunks slurred. Bucky turned around and shot him a death glare. If looked could kill, the man would be 6 feet under. Luckily, the man seemed to notice that too and backed away saying "Woah, okay buddy, sorry."
It looked as if Bucky was about to say something else, when Steve dragged him away, not wanting to pick a fight. "Whats got you so tense?" he shouted over the music. Bucky just shook his head and his hand off and stalked over to the bar. Steve guessed that it was how long it was taking them to cross the room. he quickly followed after Bucky before he could get left behind.
"Tony" Bucky said catching up with him.
"Huh?" He slurred. He squinted at Bucky, looking thoughtful for a moment, before yelling 'aha!' and pointing at him. "Bucky?"
Bucky nodded shortly. "Where is (Y/N)?" He questioned looking around.
Tony stumbled over his words as he vaguely pointed to the darkest corner of the pounding room. Steve, who had now come up behind Bucky, looked at where he was pointing. He almost burst out in laughter when he say (Y/N).
