After a year of seclusion, hiding from the world around her with her parents, the hope she once had switched off like a light. On a mission for food, Y/Ns parent met their end. To a group which called themselves the "Partition" They were brutal. Days had gone by before the reality set in for Y/N, her parents weren't returning, she was on her own.

She stayed alone for a year before coming face to face with the group that savagely murdered her parents, unknowingly to her. She would run alongside the Partition, doing their dirty work. This was survival, she had to. After another year had passed, she knew nothing else but the way of life the Partition had created. Every morning, 4am, up and preparing to leave at 6am. They would search and expand their influence, gathering goods and gaining knowledge on what was going on around them. Then, by 1pm, they returned to the mansion which they had claimed as their own. It was destroyed, spray paint covered the walls and bedsheets with the Partitions rules were painted across it.

By 3pm, the rounds were passed onto the next group of 5, who would repeat the process. Then, once it hit midnight, they would ration out the food, a small plastic container with hot food: more than what Y/N was getting previously on her own. Although it wasn't a lot of food, anything to keep the meat on her bones and her body from stabbed was a plus.

Y/N shared a room with a woman called Darcy, who she became close friends with. Even though it was Platonic, the two had a strong connection. They bonded over their previous lives, both loving technology. The room was small, had two mattresses on the floor and sleeping bags provided. Everything else, the two gathered: posters, extra clothes and weapons. They had to be hidden under the floorboards as being on the ground floor meant stealing was prominent. It was every man for themselves.

It was a day like no other, Y/N was up and ready to go with Darcy and 3 others. They were going to expand their search and venture out further than before. Darcy knew the area well, apparently she had worked in Midtown Manhattan, Y/N wasn't sure what she did though. After venturing out, rucksacks on their backs, knives and guns plastered over their bodies, they found the Stark Tower. Their eyes lit up as they realised this was the jackpot.

"I-I don't think we should go in, what if they're in?" Darcy stammered, clearly uncomfortable with the idea of entering this building, but why?

"This has supplies written all over it." Y/N said, confidently, nudging Darcy to shut up as the others turned to look at them both, threateningly.

"You go first" One of the others spoke, Y/N didn't know his name, but her and Darcy decided the nickname the "Dark Lord" was fitting enough, considering he was tall, deep voiced and clearly saw himself as the all-knowing.

When Darcy didn't move, his large hand moved to her rucksack strap, propelling her forward and made her fall into the rotating front doors, which she then further fell into as she landed face first in the entrance of Stark Tower.

Y/N followed behind her, grabbing Darcy by her rucksack and helping her up. She was embarrassed by Darcy's lack of physical abilities.

When the two entered, their gazes darted around, the polished white floors still intact, but it was covered in paperwork. The other three members barged past the two and began exploring, pushing over laptops in the reception before taking a duffel bag, throwing it at the two.

"Get anything useful" They demanded before they started walking to doors, attempting to enter them, which was unsuccessful.

A small chuckle left Darcy's lips as she explained "Everything's key card locked, duh." Y/N immediately looked to her, raising her eyebrows and shaking her head, the Dark Lord now making his way to Darcy. Why did Darcy know a key card was needed? A lucky guess, Y/N thought to herself.

Her feet left the floor as she was pulled up to the sky, a now hot breath against her face.

"You think you're smarter than me? Unlock it, bitch." He growled dropping her just as Y/N went to intervene, so Darcy landed in Y/Ns arms. Silently Darcy made her way over and began prodding at the tech whilst Y/N calmly wondered around, picking up little things and placing them in the enormous duffle bag.

Little did they know, the security cameras followed their every move.
