Heart beat monitors would be what woke up Y/N as she began opening her eyes. She went to lean up, still half asleep but the leather straps which held down her hands and legs stopped her. This woke her up fully. The struggle Y/N began to have would alert Coulson, Daisy Johnson and Maria Hill, who would make their way to the lab to present her with the news.
Y/N began shouting for help but soon came to a halt when the three officials entered and began making their way over to her. It was intimidating to say the least. The next 25 minutes would be vital in explaining Y/N and her future.
25 minutes of information overload and being told her life was a lie. A false reality created to keep her from going insane (as Coulson once had).
"We don't know if you're a weapon or an ongoing experiment." One of the three spoke, Y/N was too in shock to even process who was speaking to her. What was real and what was fake?
They left her in the room to process, Y/N declining Daisy's' services of someone to talk to about it. She didn't think she was inhuman, so Daisy's talks of 'being the same' and 'knowing what it was like' didn't help.
The next few months would prove to be difficult for Y/N.
On the first day Y/N was in denial. Still proclaiming her life was true, she would know if her family was fake.
On the second day Y/N was grieving. Crying, screaming and demanding to be released as this place was a "hell hole"
By the third week Y/N had realised it was true. They had shown her their findings and a small, fragile friendship had begun between herself and Daisy Johnson. Someone who would pace her through the upcoming months.
By week four, they had begun testing their theories. Y/N showed willingness to learn about what she might be, inhuman? She would work alongside her new friend Daisy and a team of scientists.
The next week, she was sent away to another compound, away from everyone else, to be tested further.
On week 10 she returned.
She walked through the sliding metal doors with guard escorts and was greeted by the Shield team at their compound. After catching up, they went to the "Normal room" which had a small kitchen and living room attached.
Over a few beers and video games, talk turned to Y/N.
"Where did they take you?" Fitz asked curiously.
"I had a bag over my head until I was in my room... So, I couldn't tell you" She said, not too happy about it.
"It's protocol" Said Daisy reassuringly.
"What did they have you doing?" Jemma asked, curious like Fitz.
Y/N sighed loudly. "It was fucking exhausting..." She began before putting her beer down, so she was able to use her hands to explain.
"They had me in a different environment each day, like what I was first put in when I got here. The fake ones..."
"They're compressed micro rooms which expand like holograms but their atoms form together in seconds to create hard surfaces... Genius really" Fitz interrupted. After a moment of silence, he mumbled. "I designed them, well... Sorry" He then further apologised.
Y/N nodded slowly before continuing. "I'd have to escape the rooms... by any means necessary but each time before, they would subtly hint to a combat move on the TV in my room. I wasn't aware at the time of course... But apparently EACH time... I would use that move and the others I had learnt to escape. I don't know how it works but I left with a pat on the back, and a tracker in my neck." Y/N spoke, telling a story which consumed the others.
After discussing everything, playing video games and drinking... a lot. They went to bed, for the first night in a long time Y/N was escorted by Daisy to her own room. It was bare, yes but it had potential. The walls were brick and every piece of furniture dark wood. Yet the room had a brightness to it. The lamps on the walls had an orange hue and cast shadows across the room. An En-suit to her right. She had a TV, Bed (with a bedframe, such a luxury) and a wardrobe which she could fit her family into... Her fake family that is. Daisy presented her with yellow flowers.
"It brings more life to the rooms, trust me" She spoke. Y/N placed the flowers and vase next to her bed.
She rested for what seemed to be forever. When she woke up in the morning, she showered and made her way to the facility down stairs which was crammed with people working away.
By this pointed it had been two and a half months training and getting to grips with her new found super power. She had trained with Shield but Fury decided she could expand her skill more. Y/N was told she would be going to the Avengers Compound where she would train alongside the Avengers, so she could use them as a textbook to learn. They were building Y/N to be a super soldier. One of which could defeat an Avenger... Not the ones who were Gods, of course.
On the 23rd of the month, Y/N left her friends at shield and boarded a Quin Jett to fly to the Compound in which she would face the people she had previously thought killed her parents. Since then she had built her own, real, story and was working for Shield. Not officially but that was soon to come if she performed well and was given the 'all clear' by ALL of the Avengers. An even vote would have to be cast and if it wasn't unanimous Y/N didn't know what would happen to her or where she would go. Her new life was centred around impressing the Avengers.
Would it be easy? No. Would she try the hardest she ever has? Yes.
A/N: LOTS of you are adding this to your collections and I really appreciate it! Don't forget you can leave comments as to your opinions and wants. I would love to read them 😊 Maybe in the next part, Y/N meets Wanda again... I wont spoil it.
