Tate.
''Atlas! Wake the fuck up, you son of a bitch'' I scream. His unconscious body was still lying on the floor, the pale white colour of his blouse was drenched with blood. It wasn't the first time I've seen blood, but witnessing my best friend and possibly one of the only people I consider as family... it was terrifying. And I wasn't even sure if it was his or someone else's.
I kneeled by him, grasping his chin as I softly hit his cheek. Hoping it would wake him up. Looking around in panic, I lifted his blouse, taking a look at his injuries. What the fuck did this night turn into?!
''Fuck this shit'' cursing underneath my breath, I look around once more to see if the coast is clear and if there aren't any of those fuckers left here. I send a signal to Dominic with the help of the equipment we brought with us. Then I grab both Atlas's arms, lifting them a bit as I start dragging him out of the destroyed room.
Fucking hell, he was heavy. '''Fat ass'' I shake my head, before getting him to the medical help centre.
Sage.
''Move and I'll shoot.'' The person growls.
Fuck.
''Sensing from the way you have your gun against my head. You haven't been on that many missions huh?'' a chuckle leaves my lips, only making the person shove the metal even harsher against my back. Hijo de puta. [Son of a bitch.]
''Don't act tough, woman. Seems like someone's going to have to put you in your place, hm? What are you even doing on a mission like this? Aren't you supposed to be doing the dishes at home right now? Or whore yourself around through every guy that comes by'' I didn't even have to face him to know he had a stupid smirk on his face right now.
My blood was boiling, instantly making me have the need to chop this motherfucker into a million pieces. ''You think holding a gun against my back makes you the alpha male? I don't kneel for anyone. People kneel for me.'' With one swift motion, I get a hold of one of the knives in my brace.
The puta was about to shoot but like most of the time, I'm quicker. A knife gets planted right in between his eyes. Blood instantly came flushing out from the wound. The man drops his gun, falling onto his knees, the life in his eyes slowly draining away.
I scoff, tossing another knife that plants itself into his heart.
''Who's the one on his knees now?''

1,5 weeks later, 6:23 pm
''You look beautiful, Sage'' I fix my hair once more in the portable mirror which I carry with me at most times. My eyes met Douglas's for a moment as I stay silent. It was probably better not to say anything to him until dinner, considering anything he's doing at this point is still making me annoyed. Remind me again, why was it a good idea to date someone?
I was still pissed off at him, because of the fight he got into with Atlas. Also, not to mention: he almost fucked the mission up with his ass getting grabbed by the guys from Antonio's crew. Just smile and nod, Sage. I'm just doing this to make my parents happy, they were so excited about the fact I finally got a significant other.
The door finally opens, revealing my mom who's smiling brightly. Her smile fades slightly the moment she comes in contact with Douglas. Seems like it wasn't what she was expecting. She quickly puts her façade back up and puts her significant smile on.
''Mi hijo! Bienvenido a nuestra casa!'' [ My boy! Welcome to our home! ] Douglas grants her a smile in return, reaching his hand out for my mom to shake, but instead, she pulls him into a tight hug. Probably cause she feels bad for him. Or for me, because I'm the one that's stuck with him.
''Hola mamá, te extrañé'' [ Hi mom, I missed you] I hug her as she presses a kiss to my cheek. It feels good to be back home. This house holds so many memories... stepping foot in here reminds me of the kiss with Atlas, but right now that wasn't my biggest concern.
Both me and Douglas follow my mom to the dining room, hands clasped together. My father is already seated at his usual seat. He looks up and a small smile appears on his face.
''Douglas, it's great to finally meet you'' Douglas shakes my father's hand, politely. Before I sit down beside my boyfriend, I hug my dad as well. It's been so long since I've seen him.
''¿Cómo fue tu misión?'' [ How was your mission? ] I nod, taking a sip of my glass which Douglas filled with whatever the fuck. ''Todo salió como estaba planeado, no hay necesidad de preocuparse por mi papá'' [Everything went as planned, no need to worry about me, dad] I smile at him as my mom returns with the delicious food.
Douglas has his hand placed on my thigh while he's having a conversation with both my parents. A little too high if you ask me. The three of them talk about all sorts of things in life. From the day Douglas was born to if he pours milk first while making cereal or after. The answer is obviously after.
''No me gusta el chico''[ I don't like the boy] mom suddenly whispered to me, making me frown. Even though I was still mad at Douglas, he did do a good job with his first meeting with my parents. My mother loves literally everyone, so it's odd she almost instantly dislikes Doug. ''Excuse me?'' Doug interfered, making all three of us snap our heads right into his direction.
I noticed my father giving my mom a sneaky glance. Did something change in those 7 years or? My parents were suddenly so judgemental. It was funny, really.
''Doug, you wanna see my old room?'' I decided to say. I know he has a short temper and I'm definitely not in the mood for my first boyfriend to get into a fight with my parents tonight. He's already caused enough shit for me to clean up.
''In a moment, Sage. Mrs Morales, are you sure there isn't anything?'' he was trying to be polite, but I know he was provoking both of them.
''Is there a problema, Douglas?'' Father said, annoyance could already be heard in his voice as Douglas ignored his comment, taking another bite of his quesadilla.
''What happened to Atlas, Sage? Have you spoken to him already?'' mom suddenly asked. Oh my god. I didn't come here to be humiliated by both of my parents. Yeah, it sucks for them that they don't like my boyfriend. I don't think I do either at this moment but it doesn't matter. If they had something to say, then they should keep it to themselves.
Looks like Douglas heard the comment my mother made about Atlas as he abruptly stood up, shoving his chair all the way back. ''Fucking Atlas huh? God why didn't you all invite the motherfucker over to have dinner with you guys instead? Seeing as I'm clearly not what you two expected'' he roared in anger.
''Choose your words carefully, Douglas. My daughter might be blind enough to see the good in you, but I definitely don't. Keep in mind, you're in my house, eating my food and disrespecting my family. Be tough all you want on the streets, but you're nothing in here'' father gritted through his teeth as Doug looked like he was about to explode.
I wasn't going to defend him now. I get he's angry but he didn't have the right to lash out to my parents like that. I felt Douglas's eyes burning in my skin, but it still didn't bother me to look up to him.
He probably took the hint as he stormed out of the dining room. I heard the front door slamming shut, making me feel like I was finally able to breathe again.
''Momma, you shouldn't have brought Atlas up in this'' my mother gave me an innocent look as I sighed in defeat.
''he's un gilipollas [asshole], I don't blame your mom for bringing Atlas up. He's a way better guy than this vague Douglas'' I stared at my father, not really knowing what to say. I think they still have the old Atlas in their heads. Well, the Atlas I saw a week and a half ago definitely wasn't the Atlas I used to know. But I'm sure they'll find out soon enough.
''I'm going to get Douglas, pray for me that he returns to this dinner'' I sighed, wanting to get up as my father wrapped his arm gently around my arm.
''Now that you're going to him anyways, tell him to take you to the ball the León's are organizing in a few months. See it as his second chance to earn my respects and blessing for him to date my daughter'' father said, his words making my eyebrows furrow the moment he finished. Blessing?
