Sage.
''You choose this path and Tony will fucking kill you'' I eye the man down who Atlas has his gun aimed at. He seems way too sure of himself and every second that passes is one second too long.
The exit is completely free and I start to think of ways to get out of here. Alive. One wrong shot and it could result in either mine or Atlas's death. I notice the man's companion taking his gun out as well, Grayson just standing by the side and watching it all.
But in a blink of an eye, I reload my gun, aiming it at his companion. And the bullet is released, drilling right into the man's head. Blood coats his pall's face and he immediately changes his aim.
It's aimed at me.
Grayson steps forward and I feel my blood boiling. A shot gets fired but I dive down, avoiding it.
This fucker is incredibly bad at aiming.
Grayson cusses and it makes me smirk. The man starts panicking, sweat breaking out on his forehead as he tries to focus on where I am again. My eyes are fast, spotting him firing another shot but I grab my dear brother by his collar, pulling him to stand in front of me as I shield myself.
A bullet darts right into his shoulder and he growls, collapsing onto his knees as he held his hand pressed against the spot the man just shot at.
Pathetic.
I kick Grayson, pushing him down onto his back and that's when Atlas easily shoots right into both of the man's kneecaps. The gun drops onto the ground and he falls onto his knees, the carpet beneath him soaking all the blood in as it turns into a dark red colour.
''Son of a bitch'' Atlas mutters underneath his breath and I feel relieved, knowing we're going to make it.
Because we have each other.
We don't waste any time and while I hear Grayson struggling to get back on his feet, Atlas takes my hand into his and we run off to the exit.
It won't take long or people will be aware of what is going on up here so we need to get out. Now.
''Where do we go?'' I whisper but he presses his finger against my lips. The coast is clear and we storm off to the other side of the hallway, running down the stairs.
Noises are heard downstairs and I can hear a ton of people talking. I'm guessing he's taking us through a back exit but we're going to be so fucked if we get caught.
We easily slipped away through a hallway, taking us through the base. I just follow closely behind Atlas, still not letting go of his hand. We make it out to the exit, without getting caught.
Or at least, almost. Atlas managed to avoid most of the camera's positioned around the base.
''Let's go'' he whispered. I smiled at him and nodded. He glanced over his shoulder, checking one last time if the coast was clear or not. I opened the exit, wanting to storm out already and get to one of the cars which were standing ready, staring back at me like this was my chance.
It's now or never.
We take one step out until Atlas suddenly stops dead in his tracks.
''Uncle Las? Where you going?'' a petite voice calls out.
We both turn around, seeing Everlyn standing there with her hand wrapped around an ice cream cone which ice cream is leaking already.
''Evie, be quiet okay?'' he said and that made the little girl frown.
She wobbled up to us with her short legs as she stood still, looking up at me. Her lips curled into a smile as she held the ice cream up at me.
''Want?'' she asked, smiling brightly.
