Another, but different, cliche marriage ff. Jin is the the sweet son to poor, greedy farmers. Irene comes from a wealthy and influential family. Will this prearranged marriage between them work as they desperately hope or will outsiders ruin their b...
The storm didn't seem to want to give up, leaving everyone indoors bored and to their own devices. It was a decent-sized home but unfortunately, it was still difficult to avoid those you were upset with and those that were upset with you. Jin tried staying out Namjoon's way but they only kept crossing paths and he was eventually forced into his bedroom. A part of him was ashamed that he couldn't bring himself to do the things he did just days prior, but another was regretful- regretful because he knew it was harmful. How could he be a leader and a friend if he hurt them for petty issues? Watching the rain smear against the glass, he knew Namjoon wouldn't understand. He could try but Joon was...indifferent when it came to change.

Giving his eyelids a quick squeeze, Jin focused on what was outside. The torrent shred through the flower garden, tearing at the flowers and bulbs planted by the boys yesterday. The front gate, unlatched, swung crazily as it held on by hinges. Just these two things made him wonder how much damage would be done by morning. But this thought didn't last long, stopped by the image of two people approaching through the gray. It couldn't be. Why was she here? Why was he here? Watching a bit longer, Jin couldn't help but notice how she fought with the wind that tried to throw her to the ground and how he stood behind to hold her up. Her body against his. It made him sick. _________________________________ "How did you know?" Jin asked as he handed Irene a blanket. "Your friend picked you up. Where else could you go?" She replied still looking to the fire. "I...see." He glanced at Sehun who sat by the hearth of the flames, the one who had led her here. "And you?" Sehun turned his attention away to face the speaker. "Why did you come when you're not wel-?" "Don't worry. It was only to see Irene here and back." "'Back'?" "Just how long do you think she plans on staying?" Sehun leaned back on his elbows while staring at the aforementioned woman. "We won't be long, I promise." Slowly, Seok-Jin looked back at his betrothed. She looked as troubled as he felt. Taking her hand, he led Irene to a closeted room and waited for her to explain. "I need you to come back." "I will; just not now. I-." "We agreed to try and make it work. I understand you've had a difficult time and you're angry with me...but we just need to communicate." "I know but, I need a few more days." Jin patted her shoulder, trying to reassure her. "The boys are misbehaving and lashing out against Namjoon. I have to fix this." "I don't have 'a few more days'. If you don't come home with me tonight, I'll..." Joo-hyun wiped her nose with the back of her wrist, sniffling. "I'm begging you." Jin became concerned. Before he left, their marriage was set in stone. Did his running away ruin that? Was the situation that dire for him to return by tonight? "Irene," He combed his fingers through her hair. "What's happening?" The young woman stared with wide, tearful eyes before shaking it away. "You keep...displeasing my father. If I can't bring you home, he'll come after you himself, and if he can't drag you back...he'll reconsider our marriage." "Then who?" Seok-Jin had the answer when the former cast her eyes to the door. "He doesn't like him either but he knows Sehun will...st-." Irene couldn't even finish properly, as the door was flung open and she was pulled out to be sent to the floor. It was a confusing and scary situation. Jin quickly fell to her side, kneeling protectively as he confronted Namjoon. "What do you think you're doing?" "You let them into our home." Joon was furious. "You let the two people I despise most touch our things and make themselves at home-." "That doesn't give you the right to throw them around! They're my guests." Sehun was sitting up against the fireplace and surprisingly unconscious. How? And just what had made Joon so angry? There was no way it was as simple as he said. "Why did you...? Why are you so angry? It can't be because they're here." Namjoon bowed his head for a moment, contemplating whether he should tell the truth. Taking a deep breath and hardening his gaze, he answered, "They've been lying to you." "What?" Jin didn't want to hear about this. He didn't want to hear about Irene's lies again. "That day, I went to tell her you were leaving but I couldn't. I was too appalled that she would kiss him and not even think-." Irene stood, panicking. "What I do is none of your business." "It does when you're engaged to my brother-." "It was one time." Jin watched as his brother and wife-to-be went back and forth, not knowing what to do. Should he interject? Should he pick a side? "I'm not surprised." He spoke up, staring at Irene when he did. "But I am still hurt." A pause. "I will do as you ask," A word of protest came from Namjoon. "But I want to marry as soon as your father will allow." "Jin, we've only-!" "I can't run if I'm bound to house rules, can I?" There was a deeper and more twisted meaning behind this decision and everyone knew this. He was afraid Sehun would steal Irene from him and while marriage didn't promise her heart, it kept her close. _________________________________ That last sentence o.O
