*Irene*

Bidding Jin goodnight, Irene parted for her bedroom. Ascending the staircase, her mind began to weigh with the events of today. Spending her day with Seok-jin had made her the happiest she'd felt in a long time; he was easy to open up to and be so nonchalant with- it was apparent their first meeting- so why was Sehun still there when he wasn't, whispering playful words in her ear?
The incident in the kitchen was not what she'd call an experience, but more of a rush. Irene had never touched a man other than Sehun in such an innocent way; it made her feel more than embarrassed and shy at the context it could be taken in. Just thinking of the moment made her heart race, especially as she remembered Seok-jin's broad and strong chest felt against the palm of her hand.
The light was on in Ji-cheol's room, evidence he was awake; Irene wanted to talk and went up to his door to give a light knock. "Dad?" She could hear the quiet rustle of paperwork and scribbling of quick penmanship.
"Come in."
She entered to find him at his desk, bifocals sitting on the bridge of his nose. Upon the door closing, he took them off and put the pen down; Ji-cheol turned his chair around and looked at her. "I haven't seen you all day."
Joo-hyun took a seat on his bed and tucked her hair behind her ears. "I was with Jin. We took care of the garden, then he took me into town, and I b-."
"Town?" He leaned on a fist with a raised eyebrow. "You should have asked my permission first."

"I know but since he was with me-

"I know but since he was with me-."
"I'd rather have you in Sehun's care."
This was news, very surprising news. "What did you just say?"
Ji-cheol repeated his statement much more seriously: "I'd rather have you in Sehun's care. If you knew anything about Seok-jin, you'd see-."
"You've supported this marriage for years, preparing everyone, and now all of a sudden you're against it?" Irene pulled her legs up onto the bed in agitation. "I don't want to argue with you, but what you're saying is unbelievable!" She scoffed. "What do you know about Jin that I don't? From what he's shown me so far, I'd say he's trustworthy enough."
"I'm the one who told you he plays guitar, remember?" Her dad quickly reminded before pausing to lower his voice. "I didn't mean to suggest you should marry Sehun. I just feel that you'd be safer with him... I don't want to see you get hurt, Joo-hyun."
Irene bowed her head, her head filled again with the happy memories of today before muttering. "If you don't, then why'd you even agree to the marriage in the first place?"
"Meet with Sehun first." Ji-cheol ignored her and reached behind him to pull a white envelope off the desk.
"Daddy!"
"He dropped this off while you were out and explained to me what happened." The envelope reached out to Irene, waiting to be taken. "Joo-hyun, please. There's not much time left until the wedding."
She snatched it from his hand and walked to the door, panicked and upset, and in a calm voice, replied: "I came to ask about Jin, but I can see your mind is preoccupied with someone else."

It was the next morning and staring at the sealed envelope, she wondered if it was an apology or another confession. The only way to find out was through opening it. Irene stole it off of the nightstand and tore the wax seal, letting the contents fall onto the floor:
A letter and blooming Baby's Breath.

The young woman picked them up, anxious and curious of the contents of the letter.

I know that after what I said and did, I'm the last person you want to see but it's important that we talk. If you'd like, you know where to find me.
Sehun

Irene glanced at the flower that was now next to her on the bed. Should she? Would it be worth potentially resolving their issues and carrying on like before or a different outcome, one her father confusingly and unintentionally proposed or even something completely different?

She let a day pass, and wrote a note.
