*Jin*

Sitting at his place at the table, Jin leaned back. Did she see him as untrustworthy or was she scared he would overreact? Regardless (and even if she felt it were a personal issue), he wished Irene wouldn't lie to him. It filled his head with doubt that maybe something really was going on between her and Sehun- especially so that hand-written letter.
Seok-jin remembered how it had felt in his hand, the words shaking in candlelight after he had gone to Irene in the night, only to find her asleep. It wasn't something he should have done, but he had to ask about the slip of paper she strangely left outside his door.
Absentminded and deep in thought, he was unaware that his main concern had approached.

"Eating alone?"
Jin jumped up at Sehun's unexpected presence.  "I'm just waiting for Irene to-." Wait. If Sehun was here, then did that mean he was wrong and that she didn't go to the garden to see him? "If you want to talk to her, she's in the garden-."
"I know." Sehun interrupted before taking Irene's seat. "I want to apologize for how I acted the other night. I was out of line."
"Excuse me?" Jin was confused. Was this why the young man was here- to apologize for his behavior at dinner?
"I heard about your little 'group' so I was wary to trust you. I see Irene is happy-."
"What's that supposed to mean? My friends and I might be a little poor but that doesn't mean we're ill-mannered, disgusting-."
His company raised his hands in defense. "Woah, woah, that's not what I meant!" He tilted the chair back with closed eyes. "Well, not exactly. As their leader,"
"Co-leader."
"You ruined a perfectly good relationship with your playboy antics and temper, your maknae committed petty crimes for you,"
"Those are false accusations!"
"And if I'm not mistaken," Sehun peeked an eyelid open. "You let your best friend- Namjoon, was it? - start a riot which resulted in the death of-."
"What do you want?" Seok-jin demanded, not wanting to hear the rest. Everything Sehun said was regrettably true and it weighed on his conscience everyday. These issues and mistakes were not only a struggle to talk openly about, but also sorrowful.
"Just a few moments alone with Irene."
"That seems unlikely considering how easily you broke into the house just now."
"Broke in? No, I have a key." He fished in his pocket and pulled out what revealed to be a silver key to the front door.
Silence settled through the room.
"Was I right to think something was going on between you two?"
Sehun looked surprised, laughter filling the room before he stood. "How'd you come to that conclusion?"
"She was... I read your letter." Jin wasn't going to let him know how upset she was after the argument. It would only make the situation worse.
"Oh?" He paused, his eyes shooting to the window. "I don't want you to think of me as the bad guy." He looked back at Jin with a small smile. "I'm only here to warn you."
"Warn?"
"When acknowledging and accepting new people into her life, Irene is extremely cautious about the information she shares." A pause. "I'm sure you've realized that by now." A sound came from the den and both men turned their heads. "What I mean is, she won't tell you the whole truth and sometimes, she'll lie all together."
Jin swallowed, having experienced a little of what his partner was talking about already. "If that's true, then...that means you went through the same thing."
The young man clicked his tongue. "No. Over the years, without outside interaction, she changed into what she is now: a confused and sca-."
"Why are you here?" Irene's voice interrupted the men's conversation and they turned their heads to the other entrance of the dining room.
Seok-jin stayed still, waiting for Sehun's answer.
"You got my letter, didn't you?"
Her cheeks flushed red and she bit her lip, casting a side glance to Seok-jin. "I'm not so sure I did."
Jin held back a breath of disappointment.
"Can we go somewhere private and talk?"
"Sehun-."
"It's fine, Irene." Seok-jin stated as he took a step back against the wall and out of the couple's way. "He already apologized to me. Besides, I think this would be good for your friendship and...you. Just go talk to him."
Joo-hyun stayed where she was with her hand sitting on the doorframe, staring down both men.
"Joo-hyun." Sehun held out a hand and waited for her to accept.
"I was planning on it anyway." Said woman snapped, strode forward and snatched his wrist, dragging him out of the dining room. Moments later, Jin heard them head up the stairs.
With a sigh full of tension, he slumped to the floor, fighting tears of frustration. He didn't know what to do with this new information or whether he should trust it.

It wasn't like he could talk to Irene about his past or what Sehun said about her

It wasn't like he could talk to Irene about his past or what Sehun said about her. It was an absolute struggle as he wondered how to fix this issue or if he should leave it alone and let it run it's course. He didn't want to lose Irene yet, not when there was a minimal chance of being something.
A maid's soft knock startled him. "You have a guest."
"A guest?" Jin repeated as he climbed to his feet, wiping his face of salty tears. Who could be here to see him? It wasn't like his parents would return for him and the boys were upset with the situation. He started for the front door.
"He's in the back." The maid corrected and started leading him to said visitor.
"Did he give his name?"
"No."
It had to be one of the Bangtan boys then. Only they would be simple-minded enough not to. The young woman held the door open and he continued down the brick pathway, searching for the guest before allowing a grateful yet sad smile. "You trickster."

Namjoon stood from the brush and onto the path

Namjoon stood from the brush and onto the path. "You thought I was Jimin, didn't you?"
Seok-jin shrugged before elbowing the leader in the chest. "Why are you here?"
"Me and the boys were talking and...we want you to come home."
"What?"
"There's nothing keeping you here. Everyone misses-."
"Are you sure about that?" Jin retorted before letting his eyes scale up the side of the house and search through the windows, trying to find Joo-hyun's room.
"You know how Hobi is about you. If you told him to walk into a fire, he'd do it in a heartbeat, not sparing a second thought."
"I want him to just be grateful for what I did for him."
Namjoon took Jin's wrist and tugged lightly on it. "Can we talk somewhere else?"
The latter turned his black eyes back to his friend. "What happened this time, Joon?"
Joon crouched down like a frog and fiddled with the collar of his shirt, shy and anxious. "Do you really...want to live here?"
Jin joined his companion's side, meeting him eye-to-eye, not quite sure of how to answer. "I don't know. I mean, it's better than I expected but-."
"Don't you remember the things Ji-cheol said about us?" The blonde's voice rose in volume and pitch.
"Is that why you... Namjoon, I haven't seen him since I arrived. Joo-hyun is my focus right now."
"Joo-hyun?" Namjoon's face fell at the mention and he stood to his feet, sandals scraping on the gray stone. "Just come back with me!"
"I can't-!" He was tugged from the cement ground.
"You're our leader, our friend, my best friend. It hasn't been that long but since you left, we've been about ourselves." The young guest turned his back to his leader with clenched fists. "It's hard without you, Jin. Hoseok blows up at the mere mention of your name and the younger boys are out of control! Yoongi ditched Tae on a stranger-."
"They have to realize that I'm not coming back. Ever." Jin couldn't believe those words came from his own mouth. He promised they'd always be together even if they weren't at that moment or the next.
Joon turned around, a small tear sliding down his cheek. "I don't want to beg."
"I'm not... I'm not asking you to." Why was his voice so uncontrollably shaky? Why couldn't he make it stop?
"Please, Seok-jin, just one more time."
Jin closed his eyes, hoping the darkness would help in his endeavor. "If I do, will you visit me?" He hadn't realized how much of a toll it took on him- being away from his adopted family and, most of all, his best friend; his friend who'd stood by him through every decision and situation.
A hidden chuckle his behind a sad and tired sigh. "We'll visit frequently, as often as we ca-." Strong arms wrapped themselves around Namjoon's shoulders in desperation despite protest.
"You, just you."
