Another, but different, cliche marriage ff. Jin is the the sweet son to poor, greedy farmers. Irene comes from a wealthy and influential family. Will this prearranged marriage between them work as they desperately hope or will outsiders ruin their b...
"They don't deserve a visit." Namjoon cleared his throat before grabbing Jin's bag from the saddle. "Probably, but it would help me." Jin leapt to the ground and took the bag from Joon. "And that's who I came for." He paused and turned to face his partner. "By chance, does Sana still...?" "Jin." The latter interrupted. "If you came with the hope she was here, then go back. Go home." Seok-Jin expression softened and he glanced back in the direction of the house. "That's not it." ________________________________ It was quiet between them for a long time, the eldest feeling more and more uncomfortable as time stretched, shadows on the wall seeming to grow and fall with it. "You're not back for good, are you?" "No." "How long?" "Not long." Silence again; he picked the cup of tea up from the table in front of him and placed it to his lips. "If you're not going to stay, then why'd you come back? What's the point? We haven't done anything for Joon to-." Jin lowered the porcelain. "'Haven't done anything'? Do you really want to go there, Hoseok?" The young man who preoccupied the leather seat across from him sat unmoved and calm before answering. "I had the right to be angry-." "But not lash out like you did- at me or Namjoon. There's no excuse for that." "No excuse?" Hobi started to get loud. "You left us. You wanted to leave us-." "You think I wanted-?" Jin asked, flabbergasted and tight; the tea crashed to the floor to make a pool of hot glass and liquid. "Yes!" Hobi leaned forward with his elbows on his thighs and head in hands, appearing exhausted. "I could see it. I can never understand why and I don't want to, but," He sat back up and rubbed his face, trying to hide the tears that pricked his eyes. "We relied on you too much and it shows. You barely had a chance to live and breathe but with Irene, you can have all that." "I wouldn't say..." Seok-Jin replied in a timid voice as he remembered Sehun. "I'm sorry about the other day. I overreacted. It's just...after what you did for me, it felt like I was losing the chance to repay you." Hobi stared at his ex-leader with large eyes. Jin didn't answer, his mind stuck on Sehun. "Seok-Jin?" "Do you know Oh Sehun?" "Oh...Sehun." Hoseok repeated slowly while thinking over the name. "The name sounds familiar. Why?" The young man sat back and shook his head. "It's nothing." He paused. "Where are the boys?" ____________________________________
"But we were just doing what you taught us. Are we...not supposed to do that anymore? Just before you left, you told us we were doing a good job." Jungkook didn't understand why they were being scolded for something they had been told to do.

Jin looked at Namjoon for help. The leader was standing idly by, watching it unfold with no intention to interfere. "I did say that, but after-." He stopped and continued instead with: "I realized that was the wrong thing to say." He paused while taking Jungkook's small hand in his. "You are very, very good and... I am proud of you. But Namjoon is in charge now and you're not listening to him. You're throwing tantrums and disregarding the consequences; it's not acceptable. What else did I say before I left?" Jimin, the cheery and childish, young man that he was, raised his hand. "To behave." "Exactly, and now," Seok-Jin threw a glance at Yoongi and Hoseok. "You're in trouble." "Trouble?" Jungkook repeated as Jin dropped the child's hand. He'd never been in trouble with Jin before. "I don't want to be in-!" He clung to Jin's shirt, frightened. "Don't worry, Jungkook." Yoongi commented with a roll of his eyes and drawing attention. "You're his favorite-." "Namjoon." Seok-Jin interrupted. "Take the older boys outside. I need to have a talk with the kids." Jin peeled JK off and Hoseok took a minute to face his savior and leader. The previous turned his solid gaze to Namjoon then. "I'll be out soon." Joon took both men by the arm and forced them towards the door, taking a second to look back and mumble under his breath. After the door closed behind them, all that was left were the three visibly shaken maknaes. "Jungkook," The young boy stood at attention. "Go wait for me in the hallway." Jungkook turned his head to look down the line at his friends. "...Okay." Jin waited until the youngest had shut the door to speak. "I heard what happened with Yoongi." Tae bowed his head and wrung his hands, speaking meekly. "I didn't want to do it but..." "You know we don't go into strangers' homes." Seok-Jin scolded. "I know, but Yoongi told me she was rich. I said I'd lookout but he made me go in with him...for an extra pair of eyes. When the lady found us, he panicked and pushed me down..." The boy shrugged. The elder sighed, having expected different. Yoongi wasn't usually like that. Without a word, he tousled the boy's hair before turning to an anxious Jimin. "You shouldn't have to, but Namjoon needs help right now. He needs you to watch Tae and Jungkook; can you do that?" Jimin bowed his head, clearly nervous to be handed such big responsibilities. "Yes." Seok-Jin stood and looked down at the boys with praise before he walked away and tugged open the door. Usually he'd find Jungkook eavesdropping but surprisingly, the child was sitting on the floor at the end of the hallway. "Jungkook." Said boy looked up, startled, and climbed to his feet as his leader approached. "Am I going to be punished?" "What for?" "Misbehaving." "Oh? What did you do?" The boy thought about it, tapping his chin as he grabbed Jin's hand. "I wasn't listening to Namjoon, remember?" "I already scolded you for that. Just a minute ago, you were crying about being in trouble. Why are you-?" "I stole 30 won from Yoongi." "Kookie." Jin stopped walking to kneel down and face said boy in the face. "What did I tell you about that? We don't steal from family. Return it and-." He never figured out how to discipline JK. The kid didn't show it, but he was more fragile than average. "But I needed it!" Jungkook protested. "No, you didn't." "I needed to see you!" Little teardrops formed and he plopped down. "Everything was different once you left. We tried not to talk about you in front of Hobi. He got scary when he heard your name... Namjoon didn't want you to know how bad things were but Yoongi left Tae and I guess-." He sniffled and blinked away the tears. Jin gently pulled the boy to his chest and ran fingers through his hair. "I'm sorry for leaving. I was selfish." He felt tormented at this thought. He felt for his family; he understood their feelings of abandonment, but he couldn't stand it anymore. How could he explain without setting off another bomb? ____________________________________ I've been heavily invested in VIXX (among other things) that it's difficult for me to write ^^; I had so many ideas for this chapter and I rewrote it about 3 times. Hopefully I can get the next chapter up sooner
