"BRINLEY KIARA IS HERE!" My mom screamed and then the front door shut.
I opened my eyes fast and Shot up out of bed. I looked around and thankfully Rafe left at some point this morning. I ran down the hall and to the living room and met face to face with Kie.
"Uh hey Kie, wha...what are you doing here?" I stumbled and wiped the drool off my face.
"Pope,JJ,and I are all gonna go see a movie at the country club, wanna come?" She looked at me up and down.
"Yeah! I need to shower and stuff and then i'll be ready. Where's John B?" I tied my hair in a low pony as I asked her about John B.
"No idea. We haven't heard from him since last night. Also where were you last night after we surfed?" She pointed with a question.
"Umm well, ugh I can't lie to you. Please just don't tell the boys. Rafe stayed the night last night. He had this necklace for me that I accidentally dropped when I went to watch Wheezie the other night." I rubbed my forehead while explaining myself.
"Secrets safe with me-wait did you two uh ya know?" She was trying to put two and two together.
"OH NO no no. He just stayed over cause Ward was upset with him. Nothing happened...maybe just a few kisses here and there." I felt my entire fsce get red.
"Gross! Just be careful around him. I don't want you to get hurt." She smiled and pulled me into a hug.
Kie was definitely someone I could trust out of the whole group. She's become one of my best friends.
I hurried and got ready and as I was getting ready I saw a note Rafe had left on my bathroom counter. The note read "Thanks for letting me crash. We should do this again sometime. See ya around." Wow who knew he had a soft side.
I set the note down and changed into jean shorts, a crop tee,and some white vans and put my hair in a messy bun. I chose not to shower because I figured I had already wasted time.
"I'm ready!" I grabbed my backpack.
"Oh honey, before I forget the Camerons invited us to go on their boat tomorrow for lunch." My dad waved and Kie and I left.
Kie,JJ,Pope,and I all walked into the country club where there was a concession stand, chairs all over the place, and a big blow up movie screen.
Kie and I were so happy to be here but JJ and Pope not so much. As we walked to find seats JJ and Pope were whispering to each other.
"We're out of the green zone,man" Pope leaned over to JJ.
"Dude, tranquilo,okay?" JJ whispered back.
"We're in the middle of Kooklandia. This is the last place I wanted to be." Pope set his chair down.
While the boys went back and forth I watched Kie walk to grab us drinks. As I was watching her, Rafe walked up to her. I decided to walk over there an make sure Kie was okay.
As I walked up I heard Rafe say, "tell your boy that we know what he did." Not sure what that means.
"Hey kie, you good? Hey Rafe." I smiled and grabbed kie's arm softly.
"Yep just grabbing drinks." She smiled and walked off.
"Hey uh, you left early this morning huh? I saw your note." I looked up at him.
"Yeah..yeah I just didn't wanna get caught by your parents." He looked around.
"Right. What were you saying to Kie? You looked like you were trying to intimidate her." I stood in front of him and then leaned to grab my drink off the counter of the concession stand.
"Oh just something I needed to tell her. No big deal. Unless you're jealous I was talking to her." He smirked.
"In your dreams Cameron. We kissed and it was an accident. Just an in the moment thing. Don't flatter yourself." I grabbed my drink aggressively and walked off back to the group.
I sat down next to Kie.
"What was that all about?" JJ asked while looking back at Rafe.
"None of your business JJ." I leaned back in my seat.
Kie was quietly yelling at JJ and Pope about what they did and tried to get something out of them. As they went back and forth I glanced back at Rafe who stood with Topper and Kelce. He smirked and waved at me. I turned around quickly.
During the movie Pope and JJ started to walk off.
"Hey, where are y'all going?" Kie whispered.
"We gotta wring it out." JJ said while leaning down.
"Gross." I wrinkled my nose and watched as they left.
Kie and I noticed they were taking lomg and when I checked to see where Rafe was he was gone, along with Topper and Kelce. Kie and I ran to where the boys walked earlier and sure enough there they were fighting with the other stupid boys.
"Let go of him Topper! Fascist asshole!" Kie yelled while going after Topper.
I ran over to JJ who was getting tagged teamed by Rafe and Kelce.
"Rafe back off! Leave him alone." I screamed at him not wanting to get in the middle.
I saw Kie jump on Toppers back and try to defend Pope but then Rafe grabbed her off Toppers back and threw her to the ground. I never thought I would see him do that to anyone, especially Kie.
I ran to Kie and checked to see if she was okay. She grabbed a lighter out of JJ's backpack and set the screen on fire so the boys would stop fighting.
We all stopped and looked at the burning screen.
"Guys! Fire!" Rafe yelled at Topper and Kelce.
"Get off of him! Kelce, let go of JJ!" Kie screamed trying to free JJ.
"Let's get outta here." Rafe grabbed toppers shirt and then started laughing. "Holy shit, you almost killed him, man!" He continued to laugh and they ran off. I gave him the dirtiest look possible.
