Luke fell down on me hard as I lost Twister. I couldn't help, but laugh after I caught my breath. I looked up after I stood up, but someone was missing?
Calum.
"I'll be right back, guys." I said. The boys just carried on hanging out as I went to search for Calum.
He wasn't in the kitchen or bathroom, so that only leaves his bedroom. The door was cracked open a bit, so I peered my head in. Calum was standing at his desk that was in front of his window. He was bending over the desk and was focused on something.
I tiptoed behind him and went to peer over his shoulder. "Whatcha doing?" I whispered. Calum jumped back, ramming into me.
"Fuck, you scared me." Calum nervously chuckled, as he fumbled with something behind his back.
"What's that?" I teased trying to grab whatever Calum was hiding.
"Oh it's nothing." He shrugged. He walked over to his bedside table and put whatever he was hiding into the drawer.
"Okay then." I was now suspicious. Calum rubbed his hands on his pants.
"Let's go tell the boys bye." Calum said, grabbing my hand and dragging me out of his room.
He's acting weird, but why? Did I do something?
--------
After the boys had left, Calum had went straight to his room and I stayed in the living room reading Paper Towns by John Green.
It had been about almost two hours and Calum still hadn't came out of his room. I felt as if it was my fault that he was acting strange. I bookmarked my place in the book and went to Calum's room.
I knocked on his door, "Calum?" I heard some shuffling behind the door then Calum opened the door.
"Yeah?" He asked his door fully open now.
"If I did something wrong can you just tell me." I got straight to the point.
Calum looked at me with a confused expression, "What do you mean?"
"You've been acting strange. I'm just not sure if I did something wrong. It's driving me nuts not knowing." I explained. Calum looked down at the hardwood floor.
"It's not you." Calum finally spoke after a long awkward silence.
"Then what is it?" I was worried now.
Calum shook his head sideways, still not looking at me. "You just don't understand. You won't understand."
It made me heartbroken watching Calum. He just looked so worried and I felt horrible because he thought I wouldn't understand.
"Calum, tell me please. I'll try my best to understand. I want to help." I took a step towards Calum, but he backed away and turned away from me his back now facing me.
"If you want to help me then can you just let me be alone for awhile. I'm not mad at you or anything. I just want to be alone." Calum mumbled.
Ouch, that hurt. My chest tightened and I felt like crying. I don't know why I felt like crying? Calum just wanted to be alone and that shouldn't hurt me, but for some reason it did.
I decided to obey Calum's request and I left him alone in his room.
--------
I was listening to some Ed Sheeran on the album I had recently brought.
Music really helped me feel better. I guess that's why I liked Calum so much. He made me mixtapes and those mixtapes made me happier, so really Calum made me happier.
It was odd because the one person who made me happier, is the one person who made me feel hurt.
It was currently 2:10 in the morning and I just couldn't get to sleep. Ed Sheeran rang through my earphones while I laid in the dark. I was just looking around the dark room, when I saw a light peak through the crack under my door.
Calum must be using the bathroom or something.
I continued to look at the light to see if I could see Calum walk by. Instead I saw something being slid through the crack beneath my door.
Once the mysterious object was slid under my door, the light was turned off and I was in the dark again.
I cut on the lamp that was on my beside table. I softly walked towards my door and picked up the mysterious object that was slid under my door.
It was a mixtape. I opened up the CD case and saw Calum's messy writing on the CD. It read;
Actually telling someone that you like them is pretty terrifying, so here's a CD of my favorite love songs. I hope you get the hint.....
