Family before Friends

Tati's POV
My phone was ringing and I picked it up. It was the middle of the night, why was anybody calling me?
"Tati." It was jinx, "if we're going to change the HIVE, we have to do it from the inside."
"What?" I asked.
"Join the HIVE again. We can convince them more easily if they see us as on their side." Jinx said. She had a point.
"But the Titans.." I said, then realized, as good friends as I was with them, the HIVE were family. And you can't abandon family.
"Have the HIVE doors unlocked, I'll be there in exactly 45 minutes."
"Ok." She said.
I hung up. I put on a jeans and a tshirt, and packed up my belongings. I didn't have a lot, so it was easy. I was done in a matter of 5 minutes. I hurried into the living room to go out the doors. I stopped for a second in the doorway.
Goodbye Titans.
Then I rushed out the doors, into the cold night air.
Cyborg's POV
All of the Titans were now in the living room.
"Her room is completely empty." Starfire said sadly.
"Why would she just leave?" Robin said confused.
Why would she leave? We were her friends, gave her a place to stay. But then it clicked.
"The HIVE." I said, "they're her family."
"So she just went back to them!" Robin said angrily.
"I don't know for sure, but at the party, she had said that they were the people she loved. That they were her family." I said upset that she just took off.
Tati's POV
I was on perfect time reaching HIVE.
"Tati! You're joining us?" It was gizmo.
"Uh, Yep!" I said.
"Oh yay!" Gizmo said bouncing around.
"Where's Jinx?" I asked, needing to talk to her.
"In her room downstairs!" He answered leading me down to her room.
"Hey Jinx!" I said, motioning for Giz to go back upstairs.
"Tati! You actually came!" She said jumping up.
"Of course, but we need to talk." I said.
"I know. I just, I hate to say it, but I care about all these losers, and I don't want to turn my back on them. After what I went through with Kid Flash, I realized.... I just can't do this anymore, but I will if I can't convince the others to change." She said sighing.
"You really care about this kid flash, don't you?" I asked.
"I-yes. He wants to help me. Give me a new place to start over." Jinx said.
"Why don't you go then?" I asked with a furrowed brow.
"The same reason you're here." She answered.
"Right." I sighed, "but if it doesn't work, you go with flash, ok?"
"What?" She looked at me shocked.
"You have someone to have a happy ending with. If getting our friends to change doesn't work, you go with him. I'm serious." I said looking at her sternly.
"But what about you?" She asked.
"Eh," I said smiling, "I'll be fine either way."
"Are you sure?" She said unsuredly.
"I'm positive." I said.
"Ok." She said happily.
Cyborg's POV
I just couldn't believe that Tati had just left. After opening up, she just left. After I opened up to her.
I was pulled out of my thoughts by the Titan Alarm. There was a robbery down at the Jump City Bank. Everyone raced to the T-Car and we sped off.
At the bank, we saw the HIVE, and backing them up, there was Tati.
"Cantatis!" Starfire yelped.
"HIVE attack!" Mammoth yelled.
Each HIVE member took on one of our Titans. Tati stood off to the side.
"Ow!" It was the voice of gizmo.
"Giz!" Tati yelled, using her red Energy to pull him out of harms' way.
While I was momentarily distracted mammoth had slammed into me and took me down hard. I was having trouble getting him off of me.
"Cyborg!" Had Tati just yelled my name?
Out of the corner of my eye I saw her running towards me and mammoth, and her eyes turned a searing blue as red ropes flowed towards mammoth, lifting him off of me.
Tati stood frozen, staring at the fight in front of her. She had her friends who were heroes, and the ones who were villains. And she just couldn't make a move. She looked like a desperate animal, looking for an escape route. I felt bad for her. I really did. But she took a stronger position, as her eyes began to burn blue. And all of a sudden I couldn't move.
"Why can we not move?" It was Starfire.
"You will not fight anymore!" Tati's yelled.
"I cannot see the people I care about hurt each other!"
"You left us! Was that because you cared?" Robin said angrily.
"I left because I have a duty to my family!" She said defensively.
"They're bad guys! How can they be your family?" Robin countered.
"Because they took me in before anyone else even offered." She said.
"What side are you on Tati?" Gizmo asked.
"I'm..." She stumbled over her next words, "I, I just want to be me, not on any sides!"
"The world doesn't work that way Tati." Robin said.
"You don't understand! None of you understand!" Tati yelled.
"Why did you go to the HIVE Tati, we'll start to understand there." Robin spoke quietly.
"I went to them, because I love them. And I wanted to get them to change." Tati said, her eyes going back to normal. After a second we could all move again, but nobody fought, because we needed to understand Cantatis.
"You-you don't want us to be villains?" Billy asked.
"Tat! That's all we know." Mammoth said.
Kyd Wyykyd stood silent, as See-More added, "we've never been taught anything else."
Jinx also spoke, "I didn't want to tell you HIvE this, but...I'm leaving. Tati and another friend helped me to see that I don't want to be a villain."
"But! You're my sisters! You can't just leave me!" Gizmo cried looking at the two girls, "you raised me!"
"Giz, no matter what, we love you." Jinx said sincerely.
No Titans dare spoke. This was obviously a HIVE moment.
"But if you're heroes, what will I do?" He asked sadly. His act really made me realize how young he is, probably only 8 or 9.
"Why don't you try to change yourslef Giz?" Tati said softly.
"What about us?" Billy said gesturing to mammoth, Kyd Wyykyd, and See-More.
"If you wish to remain villains, you will relocate to another city." Tati said.
"What? You're not going to let the Titans arrest us?" See-more asked.
"No, but you need to decide, right now, if you are a villain or not. And if you are, go to Waydesville, Utah. And leave, immediately. Because I will use my powers to hold the Titans here, and let you escape." Tati told them.
"I-Tati I'm sorry. I'm not evil, but I am a villain." Billy said.
"Get on to Utah then." Tati said, "but first, one last hug."
"You know I always had the biggest crush on you Tat." Billy said laughing.
"I know Billy." She said sadly, squeezing him for the last time ever.
"And you Mammoth?" Jinx said.
"Stealing is fun. Utah." He said.
"I'll miss you Big Guy." Tati said.
"See-More." Tati said, indicating his turn to speak.
"I'm, gonna try out the hero business, but Im still going to Utah, because if it doesn't work out, I have my friends to fall back on." He responded.
Tati squeezed See-More tight. "You'll make a great hero Bro." She said.
"Kyd Wyykyd." Jinx said.
He just nodded towards Billy and Mammoth.
"Villain it is." Tati said with a little laugh.
"Wyykyd, give me a hug. We lived together for years, robbed banks together, and you were the one who saved me from my Mom's Cabin." Tati said.
Kyd Wyykyd crossed over to Tati reluctantly, and hugged her.
"I love you Tati." He said. I had never heard the dude speak. Tati looked taken aback as he Wyykyd returned back next to Mammoth and Billy.
"Gizmo?" Tati said, crossing her fingers behind her back.
"I-I." He stuttered, "good."
Tati picked gizmo up and squeezed him as hard as she could.
"I knew you'd make the right choice." She said to him, giving him a big kiss on the cheek.
"Alright, HIVE, and See-More. You better go. I'll hold the Titans still for 5 minutes. Go!" Tati said as my body froze.
Jinx crossed over to Tati.
"We couldn't change them all, but we got our baby brother." She said to Tati.
"Yeah, Yeah we did." Tati said smiling.
"When Wyykyd said he loved me.." Tati said quietly, "how did he mean it?"
"I think he meant he was 'in' love. He would've never admitted it, but you seemed to be his world, Tati." Jinx said .
Tati sighed. "I wish we could've convince them.
"I'm going to miss those losers. A lot." Jinx said.
5 minutes passed and the Titans could move again.
"You will not go after them, got it?" Tati said sternly.
"Fine." Robin said.
"Hey, I'm still welcome to stay, right?" Tati asked concerned.
"I...yeah." Robin responded, "only because you were trying to make them heroes though."
"Thank you." She said.
Then, she walked over to jinx and Gizmo and hugged them. Jinx and Tati started crying a little.
"Stop it you two!" Gizmo said loudly.
The hug broke apart.
"Giz, we'll stay at HIVE for a few nights, ok?" Jinx said.
"Yeah! See you tomorrow Tati?" He said changing his focus.
"Yeah, I need to talk to my other friends though." She said.
With that we all got in the T-car and drove back to the tower. But when we got back Tati went straight to the spare room. I stood outside her door a moment. All I heard was muffled sobs.
I knocked, "Tati, can I come in?"
"Uh-yeah," she said with a sniff.
Her eyes were red and she had tear trails.
"Why are you so upset?" I asked standing by her bed.
"I betrayed them Cy." She said quietly.
"How?" I asked.
"I promised them I would never turn my back on them. I told them that even though I didn't want to be a villain, I would be part of the HIVE because they were my family. And I forced them to wave the city." She said with a sob.
"But they weren't mad at you at all." I said.
"But.. Wyykyd loved me, and I never even knew. I promised Mammoth I'd teach him how to read, and I never did. I promised Billy I would slow dance with him at a dance or party, and I never, ever did. I told See-More I'd help him get the girl, Jinx. I never kept my promises, and now I never can fulfill them." She said sadly.
"That's not all your fault Tati." I said softly as I could manage.
"I won't make those mistakes with you guys." She said closing her hands in fists.
"So you're staying with us?"
"Yeah, yeah I am." She said. Then she hugged me. She nestled her head into my chest and stayed like that for a moment, "I'm really, really going to miss them."
"I know Tati." I said.
Raven's POV
"I didn't know that the HIVE members were so close to each other." Beast Boy said.
"Nobody realized how important they really were to Tati." I answered.
"When she said they were her family, she meant it." He said sitting on the couch next to me.
"You called me 'mama'." I said with a chuckle.
"Oh, do you like that?" Beast Boy asked playfully.
I felt myself blush and pulled my cloak over my head.
"Maybe, just a little." I said.
Beast boy just chuckled.
Robin's POV
My first thought when Tati fled was that she was truly a villain. Now I realize that she was just doing what she felt was right, to, her adoptive family. She said they meant the world to her, and she wasn't lying. Her bond with them was as strong as the bond between the Titans. She says she doesn't want to be a hero, but she always seems to be trying to play the part.
