Dean's POV

Lunch went by without any thoughts of the new kid. Dean did get to sneak behind the school and make out with his girlfriend, Lisa which was fun. He didn't tell Lisa about his, well, obsession with Castiel. He wasn't sure why, he just wanted to keep that to himself. Yeah. That seems like a good fake reason. Wanting to keep it to himself.

The real reason why Dean didn't want to tell her was because he was afraid that word would get out and the rest of the football team would find out. 'Does little Dean here got a crush on somebody?' 'Not sure if we can have a faggot on the team!' He could practically hear the laughter now.

It's not like he was gay or anything. He didn't like Castiel like that. He just saw friend potential there is all. (Or at least that's what Dean told himself.)

After lunch he groaned at the thought of going to history. He HATED history. The teacher Mr. Roman seemed to have it out for him.

Dean walked into the room and took a seat in the back, not even noticing the boy next to him. He just had so much clouding his thoughts that he didn't even notice the blue eyes that flickered over in his direction.

"Okay I have a lot of paperwork to do today so now seems like a great time to start a group project." Mr. Roman smiled watching the kids throughout the room look at each other, determining who they would work with.

Dean looked around the room and saw that his few friends in that class had paired up already. He then noticed Castiel sitting next to him and playing nervously with the sleeve of his trench coat. Dean looked over at where he was sitting.

"Hey, so uh do you need a partner?" Dean tried to keep his voice steady as he scratched the back of his neck and avoided eye contact with Castiel. Castiel looked around and then back at Dean.

"Me?" He said pointing to himself. Dean nodded. "Yes, I-I do." Castiel stuttered.

Dean scooted his desk closer Castiel's and they started reading. Dean kept glancing up from his book at Castiel, wondering what was going on in his head. He looked so focused.

Dean continued to read the chapter, but all he could think about was how his and Castiel's elbows were slightly touching.

Castiel's POV

After lunch Castiel and Sam exchanged phone numbers and planned to meet up sometime this weekend.

Castiel went into history with the intention of sitting quietly and doing his work without disturbing anybody when he looked up and saw Dean had taken the seat next to his. But the thoughts of 'why would he sit near the new kid' were interrupted by the teacher said something about a group project.

Castiel got nervous and started to play with the sleeve of his trench coat. He was new and didn't know anyone, so who would he partner up with?

He was suddenly interrupted from these thoughts when he heard a voice asking if he wanted to partner up.

Castiel looked up and saw Dean Winchester looking oddly nervous for such a confident guy (from what Castiel has heard). Castiel agreed to be his partner and Dean looked relieved.

They both opened their text books and began reading the chapter.

Yet again, Castiel felt Dean's eyes flicker up towards him every once in a while but Castiel pretended to be focused on his work instead of looking back.

After about fifteen minutes of reading the bell rang and Castiel started to gather his things.

"So uh," Dean started. "We should get together sometime this week to work on this?"

Castiel, without saying a word, took out a scrap of paper and scribbled down his phone number.

"Call me whenever you're free and we can work on it." Castiel said as he walked out of the classroom.

He could see Dean smile in the corner of his eye but he wasn't sure exactly why.

Had he said something numerous? He didn't think that he did. Castiel shrugged it off and headed to his locker.

The school day was over so he got what he needed for homework and headed out the doors of the school.

He carefully avoided Gabriel and his friends because he really didn't feel like socializing today. Castiel started the hour walk home when he noticed an older looking black car pull up next to him.

"Need a lift?" Dean asked, Sam was sitting next to him in the front seat giving Castiel a warm and welcoming smile.

"No, um, it's fine I can walk." Castiel said and then suddenly remembered that this boy had the power to throw him into a dumpster at any moment so, "Actually if you don't mind, that would be great-" He was cut off my the creaking of the car door as Sam crawled into the back to make room for the blue eyed boy.

Dean smiled as Castiel slid in, closing the door behind him. He gave Dean the address and they drove off.

Dean turned up the music so they could hear the radio playing. Castiel watched Dean's eyes light up as he heard the song that was playing.

"Dean," Castiel started. "what's the name of this song?" Castiel didn't really care about the name of the song. He just wanted to start a conversation so they didn't all sit in silence, and it helped that Dean seemed to enjoy this song.

"Dude, seriously?" Dean looked over at Castiel like he had two heads. "You really don't know this song?"

Castiel shook his head.

"This is Kansas!" Dean swerved a little on the road as he explained to Castiel. Castiel was suddenly aware that there were no seat belts in this car. Oh joy. "You've honestly never heard Carry On My Wayward Son?!"

"No."

"I'm gonna have to burn you a CD of some good music," Dean said. "Not this punk crap." Dean chuckled out as he pointed to Castiel's Fall Out Boy shirt.

Castiel immediately turned red with anger, but luckily they had just pulled in to the driveway of his two story yellow house so he grabbed his things and angrily mumbled "Thank you for the ride." before storming out of the car and into his house, slamming the door shut behind him.

"Dude, not cool." Sam shook his head as he crawled back to the front seat of the car.

"What? Was it something I said?"
