Madison sat alone in her bedroom with her arms wrapped around her legs. She kept her eyes glued to the wall, letting the negative thoughts in her head consume her. She had no idea why she lied to Dom about being okay when it was clear to her that she wasn't. She knew she could probably trust him, she just didn't want to be a bother.

Everyone in her life considered her to be annoying or a bother. All of them except her brother, Colson. But he was far too busy in life for her to actually make him aware of the full extent of her problems. She couldn't get in the way of his dream job. His career came first, and that's the way it should be.

Before Dom, Madison had literally nobody. Not a single soul to tell her it was going to be okay. He was the only one to even try to help her. She had no idea who he really was. He could have been some old man trying to take advantage of a young girls sadness. Part of her knew that wasn't the case.

The biggest problem in Madison's life, and possibly her biggest trigger, was her boyfriend. Dean had a problem with his anger and often lashed out at Madison over the silliest and the smallest things. Didn't text him back quick enough? She got yelled at and accused of cheating. Didn't get out of bed due to depression? She was lazy and useless.

She knew deep down that he wasn't right for her. But every single time she had prepared herself to leave him, he flat out refused to let her go. She was stuck in an unhealthy situation with no safe way out. She was afraid to tell anyone out of fear of what he would do, not even her brother knew the truth.

And to make it all worse, her boyfriend was one of her brothers close friends. She had to sit and watch them be happy in one anothers presence while she felt like she was dying on the inside. She didn't want to end their friendship, but she didn't want to have to watch her brother be friendly with someone who caused her so much pain.

If her brother knew half of the stuff that Dean did to her, he would surely flip out and things would just get worse for her. She was scared and unsure of how she should handle the situation. It's like her hands were tied and it all seemed impossible to get away from.

"Mads! Dean is here." She heard her brother yell from downstairs. She immediately went into panic mode, her hands slowly coming up to tangle her fingers into her hair before pulling at the strands. She didn't want him here. She didn't want him anywhere near her.

It wasn't long before she heard him coming up the stairs. His boots on the hardwood floors echoing off the walls and making her heart race faster with each step he took. When her door opened and he finally stepped inside, she hung her head low and prepared herself for the worst.

"Is this really where you have been all day? Your brother works hard. You should be downstairs cleaning the house like a real woman." She expected to be ridiculed. It wasn't anything she hadn't heard before. "Are you gonna say anything? Are you gonna get up and do something for once?"

She couldn't bring herself to say anything. She kept her face in her knees and silenty sobbed, hoping he wouldn't notice and make fun of her further. She knew she was weak, he didn't have to keep reminding her. "Figures. You're fucking useless. If I were Colson I would have kicked you out by now and found someone who wasn't a waste of space."

More tears were falling from her eyes and her nose had began to start running. She didn't dare make a sound. Any sign of weakness would just encourage him further. He took notice of her phone laying next to her when it dinged, signaling that she had a new text. She knew it was more than likely Dom. Nobody else bothered to check on her.

He was quick to make his move and snatch her phone off the bed to read the notification on her lock screen. "Who the fuck is Dom and why is he texting you? Are you cheating on me?" He sounded furious over something completely innocent. She should have known he wouldn't want her to get help.

"If he knew how lazy and stupid you were, he wouldn't be texting you." She finally choked out a sob and tugged at her roots harder. Her mind was so dark it was becoming hard to breathe. "Are you crying again? I don't know why. You bring this upon yourself, Madison. You really need to grow up. Life is hard, get over it."

"Will you just leave?" She softly whispered, hoping that he would just go and leave her alone. He wasn't that type of person. He wasn't happy until he broke her completely. She knew he wouldn't leave that easy. He was hard to get rid of.

"Why? So you can text your little boyfriend in peace? No, I don't think I will." He was suddenly making his way around the bed to where she was sitting. He reached out and grabbed her by her hair and jerked her head back so she would have no choice but to look up at him. "Jesus, you look like shit. Dry your fucking eyes and grow up. You look pathetic."

That only caused more tears to fall and her hands to begin shaking out of fear of what he was going to do. He pushed her back onto the bed and tossed her phone at her before he made his way back out of her room and shut the door behind him. Sometimes she wished she could tell her brother everything Dean did to her. That way she wouldn't have to see his face again.

She picked up her phone and read the text that Dean had seen, seeing Dom's worried words on the screen. She smiled to herself for the first time that day. She finally had someone who seemed to care. That was new for her. Sure, her brother cared. But she hated worrying him. He had a career, friends, and a child. He didn't have time for it.

She slowly unlocked her phone and began typing a message to him, hoping he could calm her down and make the bad thoughts go away again. Part of her hoped he wouldn't get tired of it, another part knew he probably wouldn't. She was just so used to being treated horribly that she didn't believe it when someone was being genuine.

Dom: hey! how's your day going? hope it's going at least okay.

Madison: it's going okay. i'm not really doing much of anything. how is your day going?

Dom: that's good to hear. my day is going the same as it usually does. more work, more meetings, more soul sucking boredom.

Madison: haha it can't be that bad.

Dom: you have no idea. i do the same thing every single day. i sit in meetings and have to force myself not to bang my head on the table.

Madison: im sorry. maybe you should find a job that doesn't make you want to do that?

Dom: i love my job. i just don't like the business side of it. it's so fucking boring.

Madison: well, maybe you will get to enjoy the fun parts that you like soon and your day will get even better.

Dom: a guy can only dream. but it looks like this is the only thing on my agenda for today.

Madison: im sorry. :( just breathe and maybe it will be over soon.

Dom: hopefully. i have to get back to work now. talk to you later, yeah?

Madison: yeah, i will be here. just text me whenever.
