Chapter 28

----Earlier----

Philip's POV

Now I'm at the academy I and Victor once entered. I'm managing my brother's oldest child's academy admission. Gosh, why do I need to take care of this little brat's enrollment? I'm not even the parent of this child. Today I was supposed to be with my cute niece Ashlyn. Yet I'm here with a cold-shouldered charismatic plain child. Like father like son. Ezekiel did took it with someone my cold-shouldered brother Victor. Hmph, I miss you~ My princess~ Ashlyn, huhuhu, why do I need to be with a devil child? On second thought it's good that I'm with Ezekiel than that other brat Adrian. Why does our family carry cold-blooded members in it? It's good that I'm not like my ruthless family. My older brother Victor is the same blood as my father while I'm like my mother.

Ezekiel's POV

I can't wait for Ashlyn. Uncle Philip and I finish my enrollment requirements. I'll be studying next year so that I'll be able to track my schooling. Afterward, I asked my uncle to let the coachman drove us to the nearest jewelry shops together with dress bouquets. We got there really swiftly. Diamonds, rubies, jades, emeralds, and more.

"What are we going to gift Ashlyn? Why not buy all each of what's in this shop." I face-palmed. I explained to him that Ashlyn won't like it. She's the type of girl that doesn't like too many jewels on her she prefers simple but elegant accessories. Like ribbons, hair clips, eastern hairpins, hair tassels, combs. Plain necklaces, bracelets, and earrings though it looks really simple yet elegant since everything that will put at her will look beautiful. While thinking about what to gift at her.

It was a set of black and violet color ribbon brooches that has colorless sapphire in the middle, red ruby combs, and moon-shaped earrings. I imagined Ashlyn wearing it. Our little angel saves us from despair at Charlotte's disappearance. "Old man, let's buy this. I know our little princess will love it." Uncle was frowning while I was grinning. "What do you mean 'old man'? You know very well that I'm just in my 20s." He yelped. "Yes, right, in your 20s. Your twenty-nine yet you celebrated your birthday three months ago. To be exact your thirty this year. And you look haggard though you are thirty. If others compare you to dad, who is forty now, you turn out to be nine or ten years younger than dad. Between your sibling relationship, you look much more like the oldest and father is the youngest. Dad really has eternal beauty. While uncle has to sniff all work stress." He was sulking. "Okay, I give up. You son of my brother." He whispered. Mocking him sure is helping me out. Uncle Philip gives me so much pleasure and enjoyment. He's so easy to tease. Hahaha, sorry uncle.

I brought the set while my uncle brought white linings of a lavender dress. As we got to the carriage, I sat at the other side. Crossing my hands, leaning by the carriage walls. I shut my eyes then shivered as I hear from somewhere someone is muttering. "Compensate for the cries I shed blood. Cherish me this time, *******." The last sentence the voice spoke was the end. I didn't hear the last word but I know that voice said something more. 'The cries you shed blood. Cherish you this time?' Who are you? Must be the bloody girl in my dreams again.

The more I dream of that bloody girl I killed in my dreams the more I get to something weirder. I've been hearing mutterings. An angelic voice from the bloody girl I always dream of. Just who the hell are you?

----At The Castle----

Victor's POV

It's boring here. The emperor granted me a new title 'Grand Duke'. That big man was planning to give me a party with my new rank. On the other hand, I hit his head saying I don't want many people near me. Hmm, boring. Now they're discussing something about the new branch of the imperial business in the capital. "Your highness, sorry for my rudeness but I think I should go now." Saying my words while bowing snatches his attention from the other nobles and aristocrats. "Come on, Victor. You don't come here habitually." The empress spoke. Yes, she's here. The great emperor of this Lune continent Mason La Rosenches Lune's wife is here. Come to think of it they've been flirting in front of us. By I mean 'us' all of us nobles who are in this meeting room. Sighing was the only thing I did, couples.

"It's my daughter's birthday. I'm supposed to be with her. Yet your sudden entertainment was in the wrong time." I said casually. The nobles arise to be silent hearing my complaint. I had never complained at times like this or when something important is happening in my home though I'm running late I never complained. The couples we're grinning. "Victor, I want an audience with your daughter next month I want to know her. A little girl that captured your attention." Mason was like a crazy idiot smirking non-stop. "Yes, yes, maybe I can have a daughter-in-all," Anya commented, I stared at her. Daughter-in-law?

"The empress is mistaken for some reason I must say. Do you think just because I had a foster daughter I'll sell her out? No, she's worth much more than that. Mia is not an orphan like before I have given her a new name and life. I am sorry in advance that I'm saying such words. She is currently holding a surname of the De Alegro's. Though I do not hold her life she only holds my surname, our family surname. It's her decision if she wants or not accept your offer, your majesty." Stating it with a full touch of coldness plus authority. The royal couples we're bursting to laugh while smiling. Never in my life, I have said such words. Even when Charlotte was around. Since Ashlyn came I've changed too much. Maybe I should be thankful for Charlotte's disappearance if not then Ashlyn won't come into our lives.

"Tsk, no need to be heated up. We're just joking yah. But I'm not joking about your daughter going here." I nodded at his agreement then left. But before leaving completely I go to a famous store kind of far from this palace. Then I arrive at the shop. There are many different swords, shields, balisong, bows, and arrows plus much more. What to get for Ashlyn? Hmm, I know Philip and Ezekiel those two brats are buying something for Ashlyn.

A/N: Balisong is a Filipino term for butterfly knife

While finding one caught my eye, no, it was two. Dual-wielding knives. It was not flashy but thinking that Ashlyn will use it. I hope this will be useful for her. It was expensive, one hundred thousand golds. That didn't bother me, I'm rich. It was costly because it was made from a mana stone that's why. Although the knives only hold 10% or less of mana it's useful in combat. While paying, I stared at the knives one more time. This is uncanny. When I stared at it, someone flares into my mind. It was a woman using the same dual knives I brought. Her face was blurry. Afterward, it ended. Who was she? I groaned. And rode the carriage.

I'm coming back, Ashlyn. Smiling inside the carriage remembering my cute daughter's smile.
