Y/N's POV
~~~~
The pain burned through my legs, up my chest.
It was over. At least for me.
I slumped against the wall, my breath ragged as I slid down to the floor. It didn't matter if she yelled, threatened, or begged—it was coming closer.
She dropped to her knees beside me, grabbing my arms, her e/c eyes burning into mine.
"Never forget who you are," she pleaded, her voice urgent. "It's time. Quick. Now! Run!"
So I ran.
Step by step, breath by breath, my feet pounding against the ground.
"Never forget who you are!" she yelled after me.
I turned back, desperate to see her one last time—
But she was gone.
Nothing but darkness remained. And a sound.
A horrific sound.
Screams pierced through the void, sharp and raw, filled with agony beyond comprehension.
I froze.
Terror and pain, like an animal forced into a corner. Face to face with death—or something worse.
The realization slammed into me like a crushing weight.
It was me.
The screams were mine.
The sound grew louder.
Scrape. Bump. Scrape. Bump.
Something metallic dragged across an uneven surface.
I spun around a corner, chest heaving—
Dead end.
No.
No, no, no—
Scrape. Bump. Scrape. Bump.
The noise got closer.
My heartbeat pounded in my throat, pulsing violently. My ears rang as I slapped a hand over my mouth, forcing my breath to slow.
It was right behind me.
I squeezed my eyes shut. Please go away, please go away, please—
A breath.
Not mine.
I opened my eyes.
It was there.
Glowing eyes locked onto mine, cutting through the shadows like two burning embers.
I couldn't move. I couldn't breathe.
This was it. Is this how I go out?
It lunged.
I screamed.
But suddenly—
Everything changed. The world fractured, like I was falling through a shattered kaleidoscope.
The walls dissolved. The ground shifted beneath me.Grass tickled my bare toes.I lay in the tall grass, hidden, watching the clouds drift lazily across the sky. Voices echoed from between the trees.
For a moment, it was peaceful. Almost too peaceful. But eventually the grass and clouds fade away gradually. I look around, the dreams are over for the night, but still, I don't close my eyes again.
