The Doctor came downstairs, it was late and he knew Rose would've been in bed hours ago if he hadn't been in her bedroom researching. The first room he entered was the lounge, there he found John and Rose curled up on the sofa watching TV. John looked up when the Doctor came in. "If you came to talk to her, she fell asleep about fifteen minutes ago." John said to the Doctor.
"I didn't, just saw the time and thought I should probably leave your bedroom so that you two could go to bed." John regarded the Doctor. After a few beats of dead silence, John sighed and turned to look at Rose who he had cradled on his chest. With his sigh Rose wiggled slightly and whispered something. The Doctor didn't catch what she said but apparently John did, for he replied with "I love you too, sweetie." After placing a kiss on her forehead, John said " I'll carry her upstairs then. Don't think she'll be waking up anytime soon."
Okay, well, goodnight then. I'll, umm, see you in the morning."
"Night." That was the only reply the Doctor got. Then John tightened his grip on Rose, and stood with her still in his arms. He gently walked round through the door into the hallway and up the stairs. The Doctor felt something odd. Something that felt like all the emotions from the Battle Of Canary Wharf. The day he'd lost her. In his head he told himself off. "No, I don't want to go up there and wake her up with a kiss and tell her I still love her. I certainly don't want to spend the night making love to her. She's got John and she's happy. Leave it there." With the internal battle still raging he left the lounge to find Jackie. He still wasn't sure where he was sleeping tonight...
