"Right!" The Doctor said brightly, "I'd better get back to the TARDIS and see why I got brought back through here." He started to stride back towards the front door of the house.
Rose got up and jogged after him. "Doctor! Wait for me!" She caught up with him and shoved her hands in the pockets of her jeans. "So, what changes have you made to the TARDIS then?" After a couple of seconds of the Doctor not replying she looked up at him. He looked as serious as he used to when facing certain death. "Doctor? What's wrong?" He came to an abrupt stop, looking down at her, the serious look still firmly stuck on his face.
"Rose, this is serious. More serious than even I can comprehend probably. When I lost you, the day that you died and came to Pete's world, that day I shut off this world completely. Nothing except something powerful enough to end the entire universe could open it back up. Nothing. This is literally life or death, but not just for us this time, this time it's the entire universe." The Doctor carried on walking, even faster this time. Rose was practically running to keep up with him. By the time they reached the TARDIS she was beginning to get out of breath. He unlocked it and they went in.
The Doctor went round the console, pressing buttons, flicking switches and pushing and pulling levers. Then he ran round to check the scanner, he stayed perfectly still for a couple of seconds then ran round to the side where Rose was waiting for him and as though he had never noticed she was there, he ran straight past her and out of those old, wooden TARDIS doors. She quickly followed but by the time she was outside he was already pacing. She was so confused as he had not explained anything to her. "Doctor! Tell me, right now, what the hell is going on." He stopped pacing and turned to look at her, a look glanced across his face. That look that she hated so much, that look that she had always seen when she had first met him. The anger showed on his beautiful face just in that one instant. "I told you something was going on, something bad. I was right, it's bad, very bad. Extremely bad. I'm stuck! Rose, I'm stuck on this Earth! Whatever opened the void up, sealed it straight back up as soon as the TARDIS fell through the trap that had been set for it. Whoever or whatever did this wanted me out of the way. But, I'm stuck here." Rose stared back at him dumbfounded, she didn't know what to say. She desperately wanted him to see it as a good thing. That now he was stuck he'd get to spend time with her, get tp now the new her. All the work she'd done for Torchwood would have much more significance to her if the Doctor could see it and be proud of her for it. His approval was all she wanted right now...
"Doctor, you'll be fine you can stay with us. You can work out whatever's going on from this side, can't you? Then you can get through to the other world and fix it, save the human race once again. I mean, that is, if you're clever enough? You'd have to be brilliant to be able to do it, wouldn't you?" Rose waited a couple of seconds, searching his face for any clue as to how he might be feeling. Then all of a sudden he looked up and smiled, one of those aren't I brilliant kind of smiles. "Rose Tyler! What have I ever done to make you doubt the fact I am brilliant? I mean, I know I am handsome and incredibly charmiing." He said this whilst straightening his tie. "But, you know better than most, that above all else, I am brilliant!" He was smiling so much that she thought he'd slept with a clothes hanger in his mouth.
"Well, you're back to normal then, so, what do we do first?" Rose said, smiling back up at him.
"Well. First, we should probably check out my bedroom. Don't want to be disappointed later in the day when I've been working hard to sort this out for the stupid old human race."
"Stupid, old, human race? You haven't forgotten that I am a human too have you?" She pretended to give him a stern reprimanding sort of look. She didn't really think it worked.
"Course I haven't, now, lead on to my room please Miss Tyler."
"Of course, Mr Doctor. Just don't be getting to big for your boots otherwise, I will force you to try Mum's cooking."
"That's one hell of a threat!" He said and they both burst out laughing, walking back into the house, hand in hand.
