It had been a couple weeks since you and Ashley broke up and a while since you and y/n talked or interacted at all.

You couldn't tell if they were mad at you or not.

Were they avoiding you?

You were talking to larry in the hallway during lunch break asking him what you should do.

Larry told you, you probably like y/n but you didn't know for sure.

Having another love so soon is risky.

It had been so long since you both had spoke you weren't sure if they still liked you.

You wanted to make things right. Have your best friend back love or not.

"Dude, you should just talk to them.

I doubt their mad at you, you didn't really do anything wrong"

"Yeah.. I know it's just, Im worried on how ill approach them. I wanna make things right but I don't wanna screw it up."

"Try pulling them aside after school. Or talk to them during class. Show y/n how much you care. Listen, I'm no expert at love but y/ns like a sibling to me, I know them, trust me."

"Yeah your right, thanks larry I don't know what I'd do without you dude."

It was the last period before school was over and you and y/n had the same class.

You sat next to each other with a deafening silence.

There was no teacher like usual. You peeked over to see y/n doodling in their notebook.

You couldn't help but smile until they noticed you were staring.

"You need something?" They said, but not in a rude way more of a questioning tone.

"Oh no um just spaced out a little" You give a small laugh trying to get the confidence to ask them.

"Hey-"

"I-"

You both stare at each other blankly.

"Oh, you can go first" They said looking up at you.

"Oh well um, I was gonna ask maybe did you wanna hang out later maybe after school?" You were getting kinda nervous

"Oh, yeah sure! I was actually gonna ask you that just got a little nervous."

"Cool, well we can start heading out since there's no teacher and we only have about five minutes until the bell rings."

"Sounds good" They gave you a small smile

Just as the both of you were walking out the exit doors the bell rings and you see larry behind you, giving you a reassuring wink.

You both sit on a bench at a abandon childs playground.

In silence, but a comforting one not like the silence in class.

"Sal, I'm... Really sorry for pushing you away these past few weeks. It's just things have been so, weird since prom. Y'know?"

"Yeah I understand, ever since me and Ashley broke up it's been a little awkward I guess."

"You broke up with Ashley, why? Didn't you have like a huge crush on her?" Y/n sounded kinda shocked.

"Well yeah I did. But when I found out what she did to you I couldn't really see myself being with someone so rude to a person I care a lot about."

"That's... Really nice of you to say, sal."

Y/n didn't even know what to say so shocked yet Happy those words came out your mouth.

It made them feel.. Warm inside.A happy feeling.

You knew y/n was the person you loved.

Your tears had been used up on another love, but this time things will be different.

You want a lot to love and she was one of those things.

You weren't gonna give up this time. Remember that thing about soul mates well, this is the only the beginning.
