Day 2- Holding Hands

Summary:
As time passed by during Luz's stay in the Boiling Isles, she was slowly learning the customs, traditions and holidays. Although it's been months, Luz was always surprised at how much she's learning about the Demon Realm each day. And apparently there's a festival coming to honour the Titans!

So when a certain green haired witch asked her if she wants to come with.. who is Luz to say no?

Luz tries her best to have fun while desperately trying to hide the itching and burning sensation on her wrists from the Blight while Amity tries to keep her cool around Luz. I mean.. so you guys are going to a festival together.. that doesn't change anything.

"The moment you start to wonder if you deserve better, you do."

"You deserve to be loved with the same ferocity you give love."

As time passed by during Luz's stay in the Boiling Isles, she was slowly learning the customs, traditions and holidays. Although it's been months, Luz was always surprised at how much she's learning about the Demon Realm each day.

Today was no different either.

Luz tickled her locker so she could get her lunch. But her locker demon thought it would've been funny if it clenched its mouth shut and watched as Luz grew frustrated. Sticking its tongue out at her as if to mock her. 'Why you!' Luz swiftly grabbed the tongue and began pulling on it, desperate to get her lunch before the period's over. She grunted and with one last tug... she fell down her floor with a small 'oof'

A familiar voice called out;
"Still can't get it to work with you?"

Luz sighed, "Nope" popping the 'p'
"I just don't get it!"

"Hmmm?" Scratching the locker's sweet spot making it purr almost immediately rolling it's tongue out.

Eyebrows arched playfully; "Get what exactly?"

Luz squinted; "Ohoh.. what are you implying here, Blight?"

Amity shrugged nonchalantly;
"Oh.. nothing."

"Right..." Luz stood up, dusting herself before grabbing her lunch.
"Anyways, why are you here? I thought you would've been with Willow and Gus by now."

Walking side by side towards the cafeteria;
"Oh I was. I guess I- we got worried that you were late so I- we thought that checking up on you would be a good idea."

"Thanks Amity" shooting the Blight the dorky grin she loves so much, "You guys are the best."

"Just like you said" Gritting through her teeth; "that's what.. friends.. do."

Friends

That word stings so much to Luz.

But why?

I mean.. we are friends right? Amity said so herself earlier so it's not just a one sided thing like back in the Human Realm.

Luz felt a pang in the chest. Feeling like something constricting her breathing, adding an intense amount of pressure on her chest. Hand shaking, breath staggering. Luz unconsciously started tugging on her sleeves. As if to cover up something from sight. Which there definitely is something to cover up. Not that the people here need to know about.

Ever since her improv call with Amity not long ago, Luz had come to realise that she's becoming more sensitive when it comes to the topics regarding the Human Realm. Memories starting to flow.

'Go away and find your own friends.'

'Don't talk to me you freak!'

'What a weirdo. No wonder she's such a loner'

'Normal. Ordinary. Why can't you just be normal!'

'Wait. You think we're friends? Why would I be friends with you?'

'Wake up Luzer! Don't you get it? No one would ever like you!'

Her wrists felt like it was burning. An itching sensation coming out of nowhere making her feel overwhelmed. Scratching lightly, trying to get the itching off. To make it stop hurting. But she can't. She made the decision to create these. So, she has to live with what comes next. It's her fault she ended up being such a mess. It's always her fault.

"Luz?"

She gasped, coming out of her stupor upon hearing her name being called. She looked around, finally realising that she's already sitting on the bench next to Amity with Willow and Gus across from her.

"Gosh. How long have I been here?"

The three witches shared a worried look to each other before turning back to Luz.
"Luz, we've been trying to get your attention for about 10 minutes now."

Gus nodded, "Willow's right. Lunch is almost over so I suggest you eat your lunch quickly."

Luz felt her stomach churn. She's really not up to it right now.

She pushed her lunch away from her; "Nahh.. I think I'll pass."

"What?!" Gus threw his hand into the air, "But you were desperate to get your lunch from your locker. Isn't it kinda a waste then?"

She shrugged, "I'm just not hungry anymore."

The Latina felt a comforting hand on hers, softly grazing their thumb on her knuckles;
"Luz, are you sure you're okay."

Staring into those soft golden orbs, Luz felt her heart swell.

"I promise, Ami" She smiled, trying to convince the teal haired witch; "I'm fine."

RRWWWWAAAARRGGHHHH!!!

Luz quickly jumped to her feet, wanting to avoid this conversation;
"Welp! There's the bell! Seeyoulaterguysdontworryaboutme! Okay bye!"

"Luz! Wait!"

Luz managed to get a few steps out of the cafeteria before she felt someone grab her wrist from the back causing her to wince. She pushed down the pain and turned around.

"Oh Amity! Do you need anything?" Luz chuckled nervously,trying to ignore the itching and burning sensation on the wrist in Amity's grasp due to the little collection she has there. As much as Luz wants to yank her hand away, she didn't want to come off as rude.. and suspicious. But it's getting harder because she can feel tears prickling in her eyes, trying to hide the pain.

Luckily for the human, Amity seemed to notice her discomfort, immediately letting her hand go but not before sending an apologetic look and getting a dismissal wave as a response.

"Well... there's a festival coming in town to honour Titan's Day so I just thought that maybe.." whispering underneath her breath, cheeks pickening; "Will you go with me?"

Luz felt her mouth went dry. "I... I uh.." Eyes darting around, she squeaked out; "Sure!"

Amity lit up, making Luz's stomach flutter; "Great! I'll see you there!"

Mocking a salute, Luz ran towards class while she hollered;
"Alright! It's a date!"

Amity flushed. Although physically it may looks like she's having a gay panic, but on the inside, one question stands out among the panics;
'I'm pretty sure I wasn't rough when I held her wrist. But she looked so in pain.. is she.. hiding something from me?'
