1.

Luz was tired. So tired.

Tired might be a complete understatement as Luz was entirely exhausted. The young brunette had just got back to her house and all she wanted to do was to simply sleep.

The 12 year old was promised that she'll be able to get her long awaited rest if she did well for her final. And she did. Well... kinda. Luz had managed to get herself all straight A's... with one B.

Luz wouldn't admit it but... that one B had been bugging Luz greatly. She was supposed to be the best. To be at the top. She's never gotten a B before... Why now?.. Why during the finals?

Yet Luz couldn't bring herself to care. She dropped herself head first onto her bed. Sleep was promised and sleep is what she'll get.

"Are you really sleeping right now, Luzita?"

Luz sat up, looking at her mother.
"Umm yeah..? You said that I could.." she finished timidly.

Her mother scoffed, making Luz flinch.
"I said you could rest if you did well for your finals-"

"And I did!" Luz cut her off, although she immediately regretted it as she watched a frown etched onto her mother's feature.

Banging the door loudly, she yelled;
"You dare raise your voice! I am your mother!"

Luz scrambled back, trying to get as much distance between her and her mother as possible;
"I-... I'm so sorry mami! I swear I'm sorry! I won't do it again I promise!"

Her mother approached her, Luz's heart beating frantically with every step she took. Pulling the teen's face roughly to face her, causing Luz to wince in pain;
"I am your mother so you better learn to respect me"

Blindly grabbing one of Luz's reference book on her desk, she slapped Luz with it, making Luz bite her lips as she knew that giving a reaction would just make things worse.

"I said that you can rest only if you did well on your finals and yet you disobeyed me!"

"But.. but I did.." Luz whimpered. "I even won two awards as model student and best grades plus I even got first place in my grade..."

Luz yelped in pain as another slap was delivered with her book.

"I don't care about that! I said straight A's! You didn't deliver!"

Her mother yanked her up by the hair, glaring into her daughter's brown eyes she hissed;
"You should be ashamed.. all of your friends are out there right now.. studying for next year and yet here you are sleeping around like the fat pig you are.."

"Are you happy? HUH?! Are you?!"

The brunette shook her head wildly while trying to silence her sobs.
