(Gillians p.o.v)

Lori, Rick, and I were surrounding Carl's bed. Shane still hadn't gotten back with the supplies that Herschel needed to perform the operation and Carl still hasn't woken up. Herschel said that he'd be fine, that he'd pull through, and deep down I knew that he was going to. I just needed to see it happen. Daryl, I saw Daryl. He looked guilty. God that pissed me off, it means he knew what he did wrong. I knew he had known what he did, he wasn't oblivious, but just seeing his face made it worse.

"I'm gonna go get some air." Lori interrupted the silence, standing up from her chair and walking out of the room. Rick followed her slowly, stumbling over his feet a few times. He'd given two transfusions, I tried to offer my own since I was O- neg but Rick wouldn't let me. I looked back at Carl, he was pale and sweaty, but he had goosebumps all over. He had dark circles under his eyes and had a sick look to him. The sight troubled me in the most ways. Sighing, I laid my head down on the bed. I could feel my hair falling from my shoulders as I laid down. Laying there I could hear footsteps approaching the room, soon after I heard a light knock. I lifted my head slowly and looked over to the doorway. It was the kid that I talked to earlier in the woods. He gave me a sheepish smile.

"Mind if I sit?" he asked timidly, like if he said the wrong thing something terrible would happen. I nodded slowly and patted the one next to me. I turned back to Carl as I heard his slow steps to the chair. out of the side of my eye, I could see him sit down on the seat, taking in the sight before him. He sighed and put his hand over his mouth, still looking at Carl. "Oh man," he spoke quietly, looking over to the window in the room. The blinds were down but we could hear Lori and Rick talking. "I can't even start to understand what they're going through."

"I can." I sighed, taking my eyes away from the window. "I'm his aunt but I love that kid like he's my own." I told him with a soft voice since I couldn't seem to be able to talk louder than a whisper. His eyes widened a bit and he looked over at me.

"I didn't know Lori had a sister." He told me in disbelief. I gave him a small smile.

"Not Lori. I'm Rick's sister," I paused looking back at the window. "Not sure if I should feel offended that he didn't tell anyone about me." I chuckled looking back at the man that sat next to me. "I'm Gillian," I told him, lazily holding my hand out for him to shake.

"Glenn." He gave me a tight-lipped smile and shook my hand lightly. "I'm sure it's not as bad as it looks," he said quietly, his eyes glued to Carl's sleeping figure. I chuckled sadly and looked back at Carl. I heard a yelp sounding from the kitchen and snapped my head to it immediately, I quickly stood up. I was about to reach for my buck knife that was laid on the bedside table when Glenn grabbed my arm, I flinched away immediately out of instinct. He gave me a confused look before he pulled me back down.

"I have a man in there. He's getting stitched up by one of the women." I stayed silent after hearing what he'd said. I watched Carl's chest rising up and down, it was there, but it was weak and fatigued. his brown hair was soaked with sweat. I sniffed a bit as the tears that had been coming off and on started up again.
