Trading Time

Part II

We arrived. Everything went so fast. 10 minutes later I'm out here waiting for my family. Everybody was already picked up by now. I saw a big white van pulling up. 

Damn it's really hot here. Even though I was wearing a tank top. 

3 boys and 1 girl came out of the van.

The girl came my way. ,,Hey sorry for disturbing but could it be that you're Hailey Hopkins?" She said nice playing with the bracelet on her arm. She wore a pink tank top with black shorts. ,,Guess you're lucky. Yes, I'm Hailey." I said while walking towards the van with her. ,,I'm Vanni, Vanni Beckett. These are my brothers Gus, Brady and Jack Beckett. And the last one Mason is in Colorado." She ended the sentence with a giggle.

She pointed at each of them so I had a little overview of who was who. Brady and Jack had brown hair while Gus and Vanni had blonde hair with brown roots. The boys wore the same, they all had black ripped jeans and a white T-Shirt on. ,,Nice to meet you guys." I smile. ,,These are our parents Alex and Jill." A lady with blonde hair and a man with almost no hair but still there were brown to see came out of the car. ,,Hello, I'm Hailey." I shake their hands. ,,Nice to meet you Hailey!" Jill said while Alex put my suitcase into the trunk. We piled into the car. Alex was in the drivers seat and Jill the passengers seat. Gus, Brady and Jack in the 2nd row. Vanni and I were in the 3rd row with an empty seat. The whole ride we got to know each other. They really made me feel like I was a part family.

,,Mom can she sleep in my room?" Vanni asked as we got out. ,,I have two twin sized bed in m room for sleepovers you know." She said looking at me. ,,Sure she can! If it's okay with her." She gives us a smile. ,,Why not?" I shrug. She squealed and went into the house. Vanni told me even though they're old enough to move out , they still live with their parents. Why? She told me it's really had to find an apartment here. 

,,Thanks for helping me!" I breath out to the boys downstairs. I heard ,,No problem!" From Jack. Vanni helped me pack out. I was sleeping with her in a room but my belongings were in the guest room. I went out and saw 4 doors with the name of each owner.

It was 5 in the evening when we finished. ,,Kids come down dinner is ready!" Jill shouted. Jack was the first to come out. ,,Is that Mac 'n cheese?!" He asked rushing down the stairs. I found out that Brady was the first with getting 21 this year, then comes Vanni with getting 20 this year, followed by Gus who is 19, Mason is getting 18 this year and last but not least Jack with 17 years. Vanni rolled her eyes and dragged me along to the dining table. I sat down between Vanni and Gus.

It's been 5 days since I'm here. I was sitting on the couch playing video games with Brady.

Vanni told me more about her brothers. Everyone is pretty fine except for Mason.

She said he was the first with 17 year old to beg their parents to buy him an apartment. She also said he started drinking, partying and having one nights stands pretty early.

I looked back at the Tv to see that I lost against him. ,,Hah, loser!" He shouted. ,,Luck" I huffed. ,,You gotta do a chocolate milkshake for me!" I rolled my eyes and stood up. I went into the kitchen and started preparing the milkshake. ,,What are you doing, sweetheart?" Jill came into the kitchen. ,,I lost against Brady." I smile. She patted my shoulder.

Just 5 seconds later I heard Alex say I should call the ambulance. I turned around to see Jill passed out on Alex's arms. I dialled the number and explained them what happened.

5 minutes of waiting on the porch the red white car pulled up and brought Jill into the car. Alex drove with her. We entered the car and drove after them. ,,I texted Mason about what happened." Gus informs us.

When we arrived at the hospital we rushed in. The secretary said she has no informations about it and we should calm down and wait in the waiting room.

4 hours. 4 whole freaking hours we waited. Jack and Gus were sleeping and had their long legs stretched out. Did I ever mention that only Vanni and I were at the same height? The boys were like 6 feet. Vanni would let small sobs slip from her mouth while Brady and I were comforting her.

I saw a guy with dirty blonde messy hair rushing in. He wore a blue ripped jeans, grey T-Shirt and a red baseball cap. He rushed our way, Vanni stood up and he embraced her in a hug. I guess he must be Mason then.

,,How are you guys?" He whispered. ,,We're fine!" Brady tiredly responds. He took the chair beside me and sat in front of me and Vanni. He put his hand on her knee and repeatedly said ,,It will be alright"

Isn't he supposed to be in Colorado?

I give him my hand ,,Hailey." I say. He shakes my hand ,,Mason." We were whispering since Vanni and Brady were asleep like the others. ,,Are you okay?"

What a stupid question. I could've hit myself after it came out of m mouth.

,,Yeah, yeah.", He chuckles, ,,I called our schools. They said it's fine." He says. I nod. We talked like this for 1 hour straight. We talked about ourselves. He seemed the complete opposite of what Vanni told me.

I checked the time on my phone. It was 8 in the evening. Mason sat back next to me and fell asleep on my shoulder a while ago. The other just woke up. Alex came to us.

,,She's awake but she's very weak. The doctors said her cancer got worse and she has for about 2 weeks left. He also said we should come back tomorrow." He sighed. I was shocked and by the others faces I could say them too. Everybody followed him out.

,,Mason. Wake up." I shake his arm. He let out a soft groan and stretched. ,,Where are the others?" He asked. ,,Outside." ,,Then let's go." He stood up and walked to the door.

Since I didn't have the same long legs like him I wasn't as fast as him. We arrived outside and there was nobody and no cars except for a black Mercedes and a red Ford.
