I step out of the dormitory on Sunday morning with Onyx and Pansy in tow.

We are all three in surprisingly good moods. After the completion of our DADA paper the previous night, we are stress free and ready for some Honeydukes and Butterbeer.

There's a slight September chill in the air as we walk to Hogsmede, trailing behind the rest of the excited students and walking in a straight line, all six of us side by side. I am between Pansy and Onyx, our arms linked as we gossip over the little gaggle of Hufflepuff boys in front of us.

"Zacharias Smith is an abysmal kisser," Onyx comments and I giggle, staring at the back of the blond Hufflepuff's head.

"Abysmal?" Blaise asks, raising a sculpted eyebrow.

"Almost as bad as Theo," Onyx says, shuddering as she recalls his sloppy kiss during spin the bottle.

Theo scoffs, peering over Blaise to sneer teasingly at Onyx, his shiny shoes crunching in the leaves.

I look over and see Malfoy scoff, staring straight ahead and walking with his hands in his coat pockets. He's got a slight blush on the tops of his cheeks, but his eyes are dark, the shadows of his face overly harsh in the sunlight. The wind is blowing back his white hair, revealing a scowling forehead. Who knew a forehead could hold so much tension?

He is not nearly as pretty as he was in my imagination last night.

He catches me looking over at him and makes no expression whatsoever.

When we arrive at Honeydukes, I pick idly at the display of candies and sweets, raising an eyebrow at Theo as he shoves entire handfuls into a shopping bag.

"What?" he asks, defensive. "You know the Hufflepuff girls have a thing for pumpkin pasties."

"Going to bribe them with sweets, Nott?" Malfoy asks, leaning against a shelf of sugar quills and licorice wands. "Classy."

"What's your tactic then, Malfoy?" I ask, laughing inwardly at him. "Threats and chokeholds?"

"Seems to work for me."

"Does it?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.

"Oh yeah!" Theo says, "Is that how you got Hannah Abbot to give it up?"

"Not quite," Malfoy remarks, smirking at Theo, his eyes still on me.

"Ah yes, Merlin's gift to women," Blaise says from behind me. He passes by me, tossing me a packet of Drooble's. I catch it, remove a piece, and pop the gum in my mouth, chewing slowly.

I revolve around the room, looking at the display of candies. Soon I'm looking for Pansy, because I know she has a thing for chocolate cauldrons and they've just restocked them, but when I scan my eyes around the shop, I see that two of our group are missing.

I can see their backs as they walk excitedly from the shop. The brick lined streets of Hogsmede are just barely visible from the shop window, and Pansy is walking hurriedly, dragged along by a very stiff-looking blond. I glare at the back of his white-haired head, right before they turn a corner towards an abandoned alley, to do god knows what.

"Oi," Blaise says, and I turn away from the window and meet his eyes, wide and chocolate brown.

"Hm?"

"Fancy a Butterbeer?" Blaise asks, fidgeting with his bag of sweets.

I slow my gum chewing, giving him a quick up and down glance. I read his body language, the tone of his voice.

I cough. "Yeah. Where's Theo and Onyx?" I inquire.

"Onyx went to Gladrags with Parkinson," Blaise answers, and I narrow my eyes, knowing that Pansy must have lied about where she was going. I know she's probably shagging Malfoy in the alley. "And Theo's. . ." Blaise trails off, looking pointedly at the other end of the shop where Theo stands, leaning over a group of fifth year Hufflepuffs. I nearly gag as I watch one of them feed him a pumpkin pasty, giggling to her friends.
