Strings of Fate

Chapter I

Where was I? It was the first thing that entered my mind. I looked around and saw pitch blackness. As well as faint grey, black, and white lights. I looked down and saw that I was glowing blue, but I wasn't human at all. I was like those lights. I started moving into a straight line slowly. Exploring this weird area.

1 Hour Later...

   I've started an attempt on counting the hours. So far approximately 1 hour passed, I did my best but I couldn't recall anything before I appeared here. I couldn't even recall my name.

   I felt a surge of depression flow throughout me. I took in the situation. I was a glowing blue light surrounded by a large amount of grey, black, and white lights. I decide to test something and touched a white light, I was able to interact with it. Poking quickly which caused it to move back a bit, but I didn't touch it for long since I retracted my wispy arm or whatever it was.

   Touching the white light gave me a sense of responsibility. I tried poking the two others, the black one being a sense of pleasure and the grey one is a sense of emptiness. Were these lights souls?

I wiggled uncomfortably with that thought. Surely they aren't. Anyway, I ran several tests, it seems the only thing that was in my memory was common sense. For example, I know what's right from wrong...

I think?

Anyway away from that, I remember before I died I had a responsibility to look after myself. I vaguely remember hunger, so what if I ate these lights? Will they provide nourishment? Thirst? Well, I only have one way to find out, my moral compass isn't going off. Since this is the first time I've attempted this. I then looked at the white light and attempted to eat it. The white light slowly flowed towards me, however, instead of being tasty and sending pleasure. It did the opposite, it was bitter and sent pain throughout my body. I continued to absorb it anyway like the clueless light I am. I felt like I should continue to absorb these even if they tasted horrible, like vegetables!

I felt energized after mentally choking down that light. Wait... Did that god damn thing say, soul? It went away a bit too fast. Wait I just leveled up, like a game level up. I went towards a white soul and began squinting at it.
