CHAPTER FIVE: "Green Day's on the radio"

Charlotte was most definitely enjoying the long Netflix marathons, and being away from Phoenix.

She was horrified when her friend Andie had told her that her sister walked Into the boys bathroom to find Calum! On top of that she told him off like the over-protective father they'd never had.
She loved that her sister cared about her so much, but she didn't need to embarrass her like that.

Charlotte was terrified of seeing Calum and having to apologize for her sisters actions, but at the same time she couldn't wait.

Her thoughts were all about Calum until she almost died from coughing.
She needed to get more medicine.

The blinds were open down stairs, the light shined through the window piercing her puffy eyes. She squinted her eyes, and closed the blinds to relieve her eyes of the pain.
Then she made her way over to the pantry for what she originally came down for.
"Crap." Charlotte croaked.
They were out of everything she needed for her throat not to feel like a desert.

Phoenix didn't know what to do. All week Charlotte had been mad at her for what she did to Calum. She realized now that it was out of line, but what could she do, it had already happened. She couldn't take it back.
She just hoped Charlotte would forgive her soon. It was currently Friday, and Phoenix had just gotten home from school.

Charlotte still wouldn't talk to her.

"Char, please come out of your room. I need to check on you! Please!" Phoenix begged Charlotte.
"You should've thought about what you did before you did it. Do you understand how crazy that is? Are you crazy?" Charlotte yelled back, coughing at the end. Charlotte then opened her door.
"I'm going to Walgreens, I need more medicine." Charlotte told Phoenix.
"Oh really, and how do you think you're going to get there? Are you going to walk?" Phoenix said sarcastically.
"You know what," Charlotte said, "Maybe I will walk."
Phoenix's eyes widened,
"There is no way in hell that I'm going to let you walk to Walgreens while you're feeling like that!" Phoenix practically screamed.
"You can't control me Phoenix, besides it's just down the street! I can do what I want! Chill out!" Charlotte screamed back.
"Fine then just walk, I hope a squirrel attacks you!" Charlotte scoffed,
"Oh yeah?" She asked. "Yeah!" Phoenix yelled.
"Fine."
"Whatever."
And with that Charlotte walked out of their house in fuzzy One Direction pajama pants, and was on her way to Walgreens.

Charlotte let out a deep sigh, and threw her dark chocolate colored hair into a ponytail. She hoped that this trip to Walgreens would not make her even more sick. She needed to go to the doctor, but she absolutely refused to let Phoenix take her.

The trees started to rustle, and the wind started to scream. Charlotte noticed this, and picked up her speed to a jog. Soon she was full on sprinting, and the sky started crying. The sky wasn't the only thing that was crying. Today was just not Charlottes day.

She had never been so mad at someone before she literally felt the need to strangle her sister. Seriously, who did Phoenix think she was? Walking up to Calum, and talking to him like that! It was absolutely ridiculous!

Phoenix's shenanigans were still fresh on Charlottes mind whenever she walked into Walgreens.

She rummaged through the medicine isle, until she found what she was looking for. She was making her way towards the cash register, when she bumped into a familiar figure.

Of course, it was Calum.

"Oh, hey Charlotte. What brings you here?" Calum asked scratching the back of his neck. Charlotte was embarrassed, she looked like she'd just been put into a blender, then thrown off of a cliff.
"Oh you know, just getting some medicine," she said laughing nervously, even though it obviously wasn't funny,
"I've been sick all week."

"I wanted to call you but I don't have your number, could we maybe change that?" Calum asked. Charlotte felt her heart skip a beat as Calum asked her for her phone number. She weakly smiles and nodded.
Just the sight of Calum made Charlotte forget about her sister, which she liked.
Charlotte was so caught up in the moment she didn't notice that she was staring at Calum, she was embarrassed.
Charlotte let out a sigh and blinked her eyes.
"So what brings you to Walgreens", Charlotte asked, not knowing what else to say.
She looked down at his hand to see a black box in his hand. She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, until she realized.
"So I guess you're going to have some fun tonight?" Charlotte said, giggling at a blushing Calum.
"No, these are for my friend Luke actually. He's always too embarrassed to buy them, so he always makes me." Calum explained, still blushing.
"Yeah, okay, I'm sure that's true." Charlotte said sarcastically, still blushing. Calum ran a hand through his charcoal colored hair, and started walking towards the register.
"I guess it'd be totally stupid to ask you to go to a party with me tonight. You're probably not feeling up to it."
Charlotte laughed, "As much as I wish I could go, you're right I don't think It'd be the best idea." Calum nodded, and they both proceeded to pay for their things.

As they were walking out Calum remember something, Charlotte couldn't drive. "Um, did Phoenix drive you here, because I may have promised her I wouldn't talk to you anymore." Charlotte rolled her eyes, not wanting to think about her sister.
"No, I walked here. Phoenix was going to drive me, but I wouldn't let her." Calum couldn't just let her walk in this weather! "Would you like me to give you a ride home? I have to pick up my friend Luke first, but then I could drop you off?" Calum offered, and Charlotte couldn't help but smile widely, "I'd love to, thanks for the offer." And with that they went to get into Calum's car, Calum not failing to open the door for Charlotte.

Charlotte and Calum were currently jamming to Green Day in his car. Charlotte had never felt more free. She always felt like she had to be perfect for her parents, who hardly even cared. Right now, though, Charlotte was herself. This was who she was, and she'd never felt happier.
