Annabeth's POV

As usual, the only good thing about school was I'd get to meet Percy. I walked out with a very, very bad surprise.

'Hello,' he said.
'GET OUT!' I screamed at Luke.
'I am outside.' he said, 'I can't believe Percy calls you Wise Girl.'
'What do you want?!'
'Just here for a friendly reminder,' he said, 'about my, warning.'
'I haven't forgotten about it.' I grumbled, 'Now can you leave me alone?'
'I'll never leave you alone, but bye,' he said in a tone that annoyed me.

I cycled to school, anxious to be there before Percy. Over the week, we had started a bet about who would reach to school earlier, because, according to Percy, he waits an hour for me at the gate. I would have taken my car, if that was allowed.

To my delight, Percy wasn't waiting at the gate. I did a victory fist pump muttering to myself "Take that Percy.". Someone scooped me from the ground. I yelled.

'Hey! Let me-!' I gaped and punched Percy's chest, 'You scared the death out of me!'
'Well,' he said, 'Look's like I get seven dollar's added- unless you win the bet.'
'Which I will!'
'Yeah right,' he said, 'Hey, I'm going to meet Tyson today, wanna come? I... need you to be there.' he blushed, 'Since you're my Wise Girl.'
I didn't mention he called me his Wise Girl. I, to be honest, kind of liked it, I didn't want to ruin the moment. No what was wrong with me? I have to protect him... I have to.
I punched him.
'Considering what you just did, I'll have to think about it.'

I realised I hit a soft spot. Percy put me down and averted his eyes. I gasped in my mind. What was I thinking? His brother is on the verge of death and I'm even thinking about joking about it? I felt bad I had upset him so much.

'Hey,' I said gently, 'I am coming. Don't worry. I didn't mean to upset you like that...'
'It's fine he said,' trying to wipe away tears without anyone noticing, 'Thanks,'

We walked in the school, which was bustling as usual. I hugged him from the side friendlily.

'See ya, Perce- I've got math first.'
'See ya, Wise Girl.'

I pushed aside the fact that his eyes were still glassy.

Percy's POV

'Estelle!' I yelled for my sister, who hadn't left her room except for meal times ever since she found out...
'I'm not coming!' a muffled voice called from behind the door.
'Not even to meet Tyson?' I yelled.
She came out, I couldn't see her in the dark.
'I thought so,' I said, 'He'll...'
I couldn't bring myself to say that he'd be fine, for if he wouldn't be, it would break Estelle; I can't give her an empty promise.
'Come on,' she pushed me aside and walked down the stairs. I followed her. She was already at the garage waiting for me.

Her hair was a mess, there was grime on her face, which was tear streaked. Her eyes were bloodshot and swollen and her lips were bloody, like she was biting them. I wondered which parent passed down the lip biting genes. A dog bounded up to me. She was a gray bloodhound.

'Leary!' I yelled as my dog jumped on me and licked my face as if screaming, don't go! I'll lick your face if you stay! 'Get in the car Stelle, I'll be right there.'

She took a seat in the passenger seat and fastened her seatbelt. Somehow managing to shove Mrs. O' Leary away from me, I took her inside by her collar and shut the door. I started the car and started to drive to the hospital. While in the traffic Annabeth texted me. I gave it to Estelle.

'What's she saying?' I asked, 'Read it word by word.'
'I'm at the hospital to meet Tyso. What should I reply?'
'Reply, "OK. Wise Girl"- Word by word, Estelle.'
'Wise girl?' she sniggered. I didn't roll my eyes or say "Shut-up" I was just grateful she laughed a bit.
'Type it in, please.'
'She replied with a smiley face.' she informed, 'She said "I'm waiting"'
'Tell her "We're on our way"'
'Done. She replied with a thumbs-up emoji.'

The traffic stopped just then. Estelle was silent the rest of the journey, but I could tell she had been cheered up. At the hospital, I saw a honey-blonde head and guessed it was Annabeth, for she was wearing a rock band t-shirt and a hoodie, which was usually her style. I was right. She saw my car and waved at me, bouding up to me at the parking lot. She squeezed my arm. Estelle raised her eyebrowns but said nothing. I could feel my face burning. She smirked a bit.

I led Annabeth to Tyson's room. Something was wrong, I could feel it. Tyson was still in Coma, his breathing was irregular as it has been for the past weeks. Something was wrong, I don't know why I was sensing it. His chest was rising and falling. Estelle bit her lip, she was sensing something too.

'Something's wrong,' Annabeth muttered.

Rapid beeping erupted from all around the machines. The monitor that kept track of Tyson's heartbeat was now displaying a straight line.

I have one request. Do not murder me.

Ik this chapter was small, and now I sorta have a better thing on where this fanfic is going, compared to the start- where I was utterly lost. Sorry for making the chapter small, I just couldn't find anything more eventful before the hospital incident.

See you in the next chapter ...
