Percy's POV
I gave Annabeth a small hug as I greeted her at school this morning.
'Hey, can I talk to you about something?' I asked her and steered her away from a gaping group of boys (who were staring particularly at her).
'Sure.' Annabeth followed me.It was snowing and Christmas was twenty days away, but the excitement had already aroused. Mom had already become more festive and started getting out of her room a lot more. Estelle and James were always teased by their friends with the word "mistletoe" (Which would more than often earn a slap or two from Estelle).
Annabeth and I walked to the back entrance of our school. The snow crunched under our feet. I played with her hair and finally, we stopped in front of the main road.
'Well?' Annabeth asked in a slightly demanding voice. 'Be quick, break's gonna be over soon.'
'So...' I smiled. 'I'm thinking of entering the Swimming Olympics.'Her face brightened up and I swear to god she looked adorable.
'Gods! That's awesome Percy! When are you starting?' Annabeth asked. 'And can you actually go to the Olympics?'
'So, here's something I haven't told many people... I'm a champion swimmer.' I said awkwardly.
'You told us that.' Annabeth made a face that said As-far-as-I-can-recall.
'When?' I asked.
'When we were playing Truth Or Dare.'
'Oh.'
'Go on,'
'Right,' I cleared my throat. 'So, since I'm a champion I technically can go for it. Anyway, they beat me to it.'
It took her a moment to understand what I was saying.
'What?!'
'Exactly!' I laughed. 'They came over and chose me!'
'Oh my god!' she squealed. 'I'm so happy for you!'She threw her arms around me.
'I'm happy for me too.' I smiled.
She looked at me in surprise, her mouth hanging but still smiling.
'That's not how it works!' she laughed.
'To infinity,' I said while pumping my fist in the air. 'And beyond!'She laughed. We bumped into our friends and Annabeth immediately told us what had happened. The others gave their warm messages and congratulations.
'Hey!' I said changing the topic with haste (I don't like to be the center of attention always). 'Um... there's this cycling park or something where I hang out.'
'And?' Piper asked.
'So basically I've got two friends over there - amongst one of them is Thalia (Thalia had already settled down and got admission to Goode - but she was in the grade above.) and Grover Underwood.' I explained.
'Grover Underwood?'
'Friend of mine - like I said. Do you guys wanna come and hang out?' I asked. 'I'm going there today so...'
'Uh... sure!' Piper smiled. The others nodded their agreement and then we all had to go to our next classes.
Annabeth's POV
I was really glad for Percy. I was proud of him. Suddenly, I bumped into someone. She seemed to be a new student.
'H-hello...' the girl said. She had green hair - emo-style and she had a floral print dress. She had a book in her hand that had a Juniper tree on it.
'Hi.' I smiled at her. 'Are you new?'The girl took time to answer and she picked up her books. The emo-hair didn't fit her a lot. She looked a little shy. (A/N: Have you guessed who it is?)
'Yes...' the girl looked outside. 'I'm new... I was going to the ga-gardening club.'
'The Gardening Club?' I thought aloud. 'Ah, isn't that club quite empty? I think only... Meg McCaffery... Katie Gardner... Miranda Gardiner and Billie NG are in it.'The girl made no reaction but simply stared at a small flower growing at the side of the door (which isn't supposed to happen).
'What's your name?' I asked her gently.
'J-Juniper.' the girl stuttered. 'Juniper Bush.'
'Hmm... Well, Juniper, you're going in the wrong way - the Gardening Club was on the last right.'
'Oh,' the girl said. She sounded less timid now. 'Thanks. What's your name?'
'Annabeth Chase.' I replied.
'Oh, so you're Annabeth!' she smiled. 'I know your boyfriend, Percy.'
Percy's friends with this girl?
'He's friends with my boyfriend - Grover Underwood.'
OK, so she's already got a boyfriend. Good.
'Ah,' I said. 'That's nice - we're going to meet y'all today.'
'Nice!'Juniper and I exchanged some more words then she said that she had to go to the club. I walked to my class, where suddenly, I saw Luke sitting right next to my seat. So he wanted to threaten me.
'Get off.' I said. 'Your place is with your girlfriend Nancy.'
'I just wanted to say, Annabeth-'
'Go away,' I shuddered as he grabbed my wrist.
'I've taken up my-'
'Mister Castellan.' Miss Bhavna said through gritted teeth. 'Will you stop harassing Miss Chase?'
'Sorry, Miss.' Luke said scornfully.
'Sit somewhere else.'I shot Miss Bhavna a grateful look. I didn't know what Luke would have told me and I didn't want to know. I tried focusing on the class, even if Dyslexia held me back a bit. I tried my best and in the end, the last bell rang. I grabbed my bag and stuffed my books to meet Percy outside the school.
'Beth!' he ran up to me and ruffled my hair.
'Don't do that!' I flattened my hair and put a cap over it.
'Sorry,' he murmured.
'So,' I said. 'the Olympics asked you to join?'
'Yeah,' he bit his lip. 'They did.'
'That's amazing, Perce.' I smiled.
'I dunno.'
'What do you mean?'
'Well, what do you think about me failing?'
'Um...' I frowned. 'I don't think you'd fail.'
'What if I did?'
'Uh... I guess you would have tried your best.' I shrugged. 'Either way, it's a great opportunity - you have to take it.'
'Okay... I'll try.'
Small chapter ;-; I know. I'm sorry guys. TwT really I am. I'll make better chapters soon I swear on the river styx.
