Annabeth's POV
'I tried!' I yelled at him, 'I tried!'
I was lying, and he knew it.
'You didn't!' he said, 'Annabeth, either it's dating me - or it's the other thing.'
'I won't!' I yelled, 'I won't do it to him! I won't-'
'Then date me,'
'But-'
'Either this or that - choose fast.'
'I choose none!'
'Don't make me do it to him.'
'I try to!'I was lying to him all along, telling him I was trying to kill the guy. But just to avoid dating him and having to kill him. I was avoiding it both, relying on excuses.
'He's too fast!' I yelled for an excuse.
'You're too slow!'
'I'm trying - every day! I am!'
'This is your final straw - if you fail, Annabeth, then you have to date me.'
In your dreams. I thought, I'll never kill Percy! And I'll never date you, Luke Castellan! It was the biggest mistake of my life! And I ran away, I ran away as fast as I could. I was sobbing the entire way. Today was the last day, the last day of my happiness. I was almost sure of it.
Percy's POV
Annabeth walked into the school. The funeral made things real. I could laugh. I could smile, all because I had accepted it. It had been two weeks. Two sad weeks, but he wouldn't be coming back.
Annabeth's eyes screamed pain. I was worried in a matter of minutes.
'What happened?' I asked her.
she sighed, 'It's Luke - he wants to get back together.'
'Are you?' I gulped.
'I have no choice, Percy.' she said, 'You know who I like, you do. But I have no choice.'
'Who do you like?' I asked, I had no clue. She looked at me like, I basically told you over the past month.'Nothing,' she muttered back, 'forget it.'
'Tell me,' I said, tilting her chin to face me.
'Leave it be, Perseus.' she said in a dangerous tone. A tone as sharp as knives. Her lips parted slightly as she saw Luke.
'I have to agree,' said Annabeth.
'You don't.' I said hastily.
'Got no choice,' she muttered. She walked over to Luke. They talked inaudibly and then Luke leaned in. She backed away and came to me.
'I'm gonna be a complete donkey- let's see how much he wants me then.'
'OK.' I said, cheering up a bit. It was Luke, it would take a bit long, but soon, I'd have a chance of having Annabeth to me. However slim it may be. That rhymed.
'I'm gonna go,' she said, 'Bye!'
And then, just to spite Luke, she kissed me on my cheek.
'Look at his face,' she grinned, 'See ya.'Luke was dumbfounded, he stared at me. Walking away, he glanced again. I gave a little wave to him with a hard sneer. It's on.
Rachel met me up the stairs
'You do have algebra right now, right?'
'How do you know?' I asked, giving a nervous chuckle.
'Just found out.'
'Are you stalking me?'
'Maybe.' she said, 'Wanna hang out after school?'
'No.' I said, ready to walk away.
'Oh come on.'
'No!' I shoved past her. She simply put her hand on my shoulder. Trying to charm me.
'Let me go,' I said.
'You're cute.' she said, leaning in.
I fled.
'Come back, cutie!' she giggled. She must have thought I was just shy, but I hated her.Upon reaching Algebra, the teacher hadn't come. A bunch of girls blushed at me. Some giggled and punched a particular girl in between. Rachel walked in.
'I had algebra too!' she said, taking a seat next to me.
'Will you just leave me alone you dimwit!' I practically yelled. This earned a few nervous glances.
'You're just charmed,' she said.
'Am not.' I said, 'Wanna see?' I was putting my arm on her bench, tilting it slightly.
'What will you do?' she muttered, 'I like you, you like me. What can you do to me?' she giggled 'It's not like you could even save your brother.' she blurted, 'I didn't mean that! I-'
I left the chair. She fell down on her butt.
'That's what I will do.' I murmured.
She laughed, but the tears came in her eyes. She ran away.Jason, who was in the seat behind me, tapped my shoulder.
'That was harsh...'
'She's harsh,' I retorted, 'Can't she understand - and she made a comment about Tyson!'
'Okay, that is harsh.' he said, 'Just ignore her, you do like Annabeth anyways.' he smirked.
'Ha ha.' I sarcastically laughed and fiddled with my pen.
Jason wiggled his eyebrows at me.
'Fine - I do. But she friendzoned me a few days ago for heavens sake!' I muttered under my breath.
'Finally! You admit it!' Jason said loudly, 'I honestly thought you would never say that you liked Annabeth.' he added on a lower note.
'I can say the same for you and Piper - only you two are already dating.' I murmured.
