"Are you going to school tomorrow?" Caden ask as we stand outside my front door.
"I don't know," I said honestly. While dad is out, checking out business, most of the time, I just stay home. I really don't have the energy to see everyone's face. "What's been going on since I've been out?"
"Not much really." He slightly shakes his head. "Everyone is just wondering where you are, and you know how much they love to gossip and make up random rumors." He rolls his eyes. "And it seem like you have some followers."
"Followers?" I slightly laugh in surprise.
"Yeah," he laughs. "I guess there trying to be the new 'Heaven Carter' " he quotes with his fingers.
"How?"
"Copying your sense of style, using your catch phrases, sucking up to Mr Nunez, and even putting green contact on."
"That's fucking weird." I shake my head.
"Even one of them dyed their hair the same color as yours."
"Who was it?"
"Nelly Rey." He answered smugly.
"Wasn't she the bitch who was talking shit about me in the beginning of the year?" I ask with a wide smirk on my face.
"She was the one who was hating on you." He confirms. I let out small chuckle, I just find it so ironic how people can talk shit about me than try to copy every move I make.
Funny how bitches turn into my fans.
"Cay." I drag out his nickname, changing the subject. He looks at me with an amused expression. "I hope to see you at football try outs this season."
"Who said I was trying out for football?" He laughs silently.
"I did." I remark. "Not to boost your already huge ego or whatever but I've seen how you practiced football and let me tell." I smile. "You know what your doing." I complement. "That right there would be a real shame to not use your talent."
He stares at me for a moment, before playfully throwing his arm over my shoulder. Slowly bringing me into a side hug.
"You sure gave me an confidence boost Aven." He ruffled my hair, which I glared at him for, only responding with a light chuckle.
"Not like you need it."
"Hm." He trails off. "I'm pretty sure try outs are tomorrow." He signed dramatically. "If only you would attend school tomorrow."
"Is Caden Jensen trying to guilt trip me?"
"I don't know, is it working?" He smiled down at me, showing off his deep dimples.
"I mean I guess I can go." I breath out loudly.
"Great Aven!" He cheered. The door opened, revealing dad in his usual suit he wears for work every day.
"Hello Caden." Dad smiles warmly at him. "I've been looking for you Heaven." He points to me.
"That's my fault sir." Caden took the blame. Which surprised me, I thought he would have been amused by me getting scolded by him. "I took her to the beach this morning than out to eat." He told. "That was my bad for not telling you."
Instead of getting angry at Caden like I thought would happened, he smiled widely at him. It seemed like Caden was surprised too by his smile, instead of commenting on it, Caden smiled widely at dads expression.
"Don't worry about it Caden." Dad chirped up. "And please call me Alvaro." Dad looked between where Caden and I were standing by and smiled harder if that was even possible.
"I should get going than." Caden said. "Heaven," he turns to me. "I will see you tomorrow at school." He reminds. "Have a nice day Sir-" he stops himself. "Alvaro." Dad let's out a small chuckle at his words.
"I'll see you around Caden." Dad said. "And I would love for you to stop by sometime for supper." Bro, oh my gosh! Why would dad say that. Dad only meet him like twice and he's already inviting his over for dinner. Caden looks at me with an amused expression, turning back to dad, ready to decline his offer.
"Yeah, just tell Heaven to tell me when to save the date." That- I was not expecting that answer. Was he trying to be polite in front of dad? Dad looked satisfied by his answer. "I should get going now." Caden said. "Have a nice rest of your day." He repeats. We both bid our goodbyes, dad and I wait until he was out of the gates to go back inside.
"So..." Dad trails off, his tone sounded like he wanted me to finish his sentence. When he figures out I'm not going to finish his sentence he speaks. "Caden seems nice." He pursue his lips.
"He's alright." I say shortly. Not really wanting talk about Caden to him. Dad doesn't seem to notice because he presses farther.
"Yeah right." He rolls his eyes. "So the beach." He wiggles his eyebrows at me. "What did you guys talk about?"
"Why so interested?"
"Jeez I haven't heard some juicy gossip in awhile give me a break." He signs dramatically. I'm one hundred precent sure my dad is the biggest gossip king I have ever met.
"If you wanted some gossip you could've just turned on the tv." I slouched as I sit down on the white couch.
"Do you not see the shows I watch?" He ask. "All I watch is reality tv shows. And I want to hear all about this beach date of yours."
"Dad it wasn't a beach date." I remind. "I woke up early," I stood right back up. "I'm going back to bed." I said. "See you later dad" I bid walking away. I slowly turn around when I reach the last floor, seeing if dad was looking, I snatched a bottle of bourbon that was sitting nicely on a counter just waiting for me to drink.
I walk into my room, slightly shocked that Caden cleaned it up.
I'm not a cliche ass bitch who is oblivious all the time. I know Caden cares for me or else he wouldn't have helped me out. I'm grateful for that and I'm very grateful for him.
