The train ride to Chelmand was boring to say the least. Still under the weather, both Audrey and almost all of the second year students weren't looking forward to such a sudden and unplanned trip. Home sick and tired, they definitely were.
"Tea anyone?" Morgan asks, holding a kettle in her hand and looking around at the fellow classmates around her.
Everyone seemed to sigh under their breath at her enthusiasm.
"No thank you." The girl in front of her replies.
Morgan nods, setting the kettle down and finally inserting a tea bag in the mug of hot water.
"I'd like some." Audrey says, her voice hoarse and quiet to fit her surroundings.
Morgan grins, pouring water into another mug she had borrowed from the dining cart.
"Here." She hands Audrey the mug after a few minutes.
Audrey thanks her best friend and soon takes a sip of the hot beverage. Looking out the window and onto the nature beyond, her eyes become heavy; soon closing shut and only darkness surrounds her eyesight.
She can hear her friends talk softly around her. She can feel the train moving, it's engine heavy and powerful. Her hands feel warm due to the hot mug being cupped between both of them. She's aware of everything going on, except only one thing comes to mind. Slowly but surely, the noise of the outside world fades aside and she falls into a deep slumber.
-
"I'll miss you." I admit, turning around to face him.
"Don't." He smiles. "I'm moving here remember? Besides, you will see me sooner or later." He responds as he strokes my chin softly.
"Domesdale is an exception, there we have to keep us a secret, all because of rumors and shitty stereotypes." I admit.. "But, I'm glad we worked out whatever this was." I smile.
"Felix, it's time to go." Mrs. Blackwood calls.
"Right Mum, I'll be right there." He nods.
"Well." I sigh deeply, fixing the collar to his shirt. "Be sure to call me."
"Of course." He says as he closes the hood of the trunk.
A honk from the car startles the both of us as we jump in surprise. I'm almost ready to say my goodbyes before I'm being pulled by the waist softly, causing our chests to collide with each other.
"Save me a seat on the train." He whispers before kissing the top of my head.
-
"Audrey."
"Audreyyy."
"Audrey!!"
The girl jumps in surprise as a hard-covered book lands on the top of her head.
"For Christ's sake will you wake up?" Her best friend exclaims.
Her eyes are groggy and the light shining from outside the large windows don't help the situation either.
"I- sorry. I was just uh- asleep?" She almost questions herself as she looks around the carriage in confusion.
"Well you were, that's for sure. Your tea spilled and everything." Morgan rolls her eyes.
"But that's not the point. Come on, we have to go." She points towards the door.
Audrey ends up mumbling a few words Morgan can't even understand but doesn't bother in taking the time to ask.
With their luggage in hand, both girls walk out of the train and onto the dirt road surrounded by forest.
"Well isn't this just lovely." Morgan announces, her tone almost sarcastic as her eyes avert from the road, trees and the large lake ahead.
Audrey, still half asleep and questioning the dream she just had, looks around at what everyone else is glueing their eyes to.
Her eyes widen in surprise. It was beautiful. Everything about it was magnificent. The large trees that seemed to reach up to the sky were everywhere in sight. The sky was still dark and cloudy but somehow it only made the scenery better. The large lake that spread for miles sparkled under the brief light in the distance and nature seemed to finally devour them all.
"This definitely isn't London, I'll tell you that." Morgan chuckles dryly as they both begin to walk further along the trail.
"You don't even live in London-" Audrey wanted to object but was only interrupted.
"Look at that bird!" Morgan gasps, shaking the arm of her friend.
Audrey's eyes are forced to gaze upon the bird ahead of them, it's jet black wings are spread open as it glides through dozens of trees and soon disappears into the large, open forest.
Soon tearing their attention away from the bird, they continue to walk.
"Right, well it's not like I enjoy being locked up in a two hundred year old building either." She points out.
"I'd say you're correct on that because I agree." Audrey mumbles.
"Of course I am."
-
The cabins were just on the edge of the forest. With dark, thick wood surrounding the entire building, it's sturdy structure protected it from the harsh weather in the area.
The room smelled of old wood and musk. Everything inside seemed to not have been renewed in years, including the four bunk-beds and two dressers that came with it.
"This is it." Audrey states, closing the door behind them.
"Isn't this lovely." The sound of Morgan's voice derisive.
Audrey shrugged, setting down her luggage and taking off her rain coat.
"It's not so bad is it. Besides, we can always share a bunk bed, it's not like you're going to be all alone." She snickers.
"That one in the corner looks the comfiest." She points out, her eyes averting towards the farthest near the only window.
"I'm not a big fan of confined spaces you know." Morgan remarks.
"Well good, because you won't have to sleep in the corner an longer if your so picky." Her friend responds, throwing an extra backpack in the air which Morgan is able to catch in time. She rolls her eyes, setting the bag on the ground. "We're just lucky we got here before the others. At least we can pick and choose what to keep."
"Right, well who knows if they'll even want to agree on roommate terms." Audrey mumbles.
She unpacked the items from her duffle bag, putting them inside the dresser that sat right near her bunk bed. Soon jumping on top of the mattress to feel the fabrics quality, she sighs and lays back.
"Like I said, not so bad."
