Wrapped Around Your Finger (M.C)

Chapter 6: Part 1

"Luke?" I was scared since I've never seen Luke this grumpy in the morning.

"Leave me alone today, Ashleigh. I'm sorry, it's just. Errr." he growled.

"Luke, is this about Michael? Don't worry. I'm going to listen to you," I whispered.

"Ok. Please keep that promise. I don't need you getting hurt."

We were running late and had to run outside. We were almost at the school and my brother's friend, Louis, drove by. "Hey, do you guys want a ride?" Louis spoke. He was from England, so he had a beautiful accent and his voice was perfect. "Sur-." Luke cut me off, "were good." I shrugged it off and Louis drove by. I used to have the biggest crush on Louis, but I don't know what a crush is anymore.

We got to school and I walked to my locker. I put my combination into my lock and put my backpack away. I grabbed the textbook I needed for pre calculus, a binder, and a sketchbook, incase I get bored or I have extra time. I was about to close my locker until I felt a hand on my shoulder. I jumped and my stuff fell on the ground.

"Im so sorry. Let me help you." Spoke a familiar voice. "Did something happen last night?" I looked up to see Michael. He looked worried. "Its fine and thank you. I just got caught up on some stuff." I lied. "Ashleigh, I know your lying. What's wrong?" I looked at him in shock. How did he know I was lying? "Ashleigh. Luke texted me. He said I should stay away from you. Is that what's wrong?" I nodded at Michael's question. "Ashleigh, don't worry. It's not like we're dating. And whatever your brother said, he's lying. Yeah, I might get into trouble here and there, but it's nothing too bad." He looked at me with soft eyes. I could see truth and only truth. Michael bent down and hugged me. I smiled at his gesture and I didn't hesitate to hug him back. Luke was being a bitch today and Michael is really nice to me, so I might as well take what I can get.

Right before lunch, Michael showed up at my locker again. He wanted to comfort me since he found out about Luke. And since Michael is in some of Luke's classes, he saw Luke's anger. "Do you want to sit with us or no? If not I will sit with you." His voice sunk into my head. I thought for a second. "I think I will let Luke alone. I don't want you guys fighting, either." He nodded and we walked into the cafeteria. We found an empty table and out stuff down so we could get our food.

We came back and there was a girl that I've seen before sitting down. "Hello." Michael welcomed the girl. She looked back and saw us. "Oh if your sitting here, I'm sorry. I will lea-" I cut her off. "Its fine." Michael and I sat with the girl. We were talking to her and she seemed really nice. We also had a lot of things in common. We told her our names and she told us hers. Cassandra Bates. She had a similar life to mine, except she didn't have three brothers. She had one brother and three sisters. Cassandra and Michael both were eating pizza, but I ate a salad.

Every now and then, I saw Luke glaring at Michael and me. I guess he thought I forgot about what he told me. I didn't, but I can make friends myself. I don't need anybody choosing who I become friends with or choosing who I date. I hated to see Luke so angry, but I liked being with Michael. Cassandra was really fun, too.

I looked over my shoulder to find a Calum Hood standing right behind me. "Hello?" I was confused. "Ashleigh, can I talk to you alone please?" He seemed concerned so I glared at Michael and Cassandra for approval. They both nodded so I knew they were ok with it. We left the cafeteria and stood by lockers.

"What's up Cal Pal?" I giggled at the nickname I gave him. "Ash, Luke doesn't want you with Michael, especially without him. I know you can make your own decisions, but please don't do anything."

"Don't worry Calum. I'm not gonna do anything!" I was getting a little annoyed. I walked away from Calum and headed back to the cafe. I felt bad for doing that since Calum didn't do anything, but Luke was actually starting to get on my nerves. I got back to the table I was sitting at and Cassandra was gone.

I sat down next to Michael and put my head in my hands. I started to cry. Luke was making me really mad and Im finally letting that sink in my head. Michael instantly saw something was wrong. He scooted closer to me and wrapped an arm around me. "Ashleigh, what's wrong? Did Calum do something to you? I swear if he did I will make it so he can't have kids!" Michael's voice became a little louder. I shook my head, still crying. "Ashleigh, I know something's wrong. It's just... It's ok. Everything will be ok. No matter what it is, it will get better." Michael's voice was softer. I nodded and he hugged me again. I cried on his shoulder and Cassandra comes back.
