*TIME SKIP NEXT DAY*

You woke up feeling refreshed with energy from the game yesterday. You and Severus had a pleasant afternoon in the astronomy tower and you couldn't help but feel happy and giddy. Since you hadn't been hanging with Niklaus anymore, it had been different. Normally you could tell him anything and you felt light and free. But since you have been busy you've noticed that you both have started to drift apart. Neither of you blames one another. It is your fault though, isn't it? You have barely made much effort to spend time with him. Severus was partially right about how you should avoid getting into trouble for as long as possible. Though you weren't putting yourself in danger, you had been preparing for something that probably won't happen for another few years when you and Harry graduate. It got you thinking about how Niklaus has probably been feeling alone without you and that you are abandoning him because he is no longer a priority in your life. It isn't the case. The fact that you had said yes to Harry instead of Nik did not help the situation. Harry had asked first and you couldn't just change your mind. If there is another party, you are going to make sure that you take Niklaus even if it means rejecting Harry. Nik was your best friend and you weren't going to let him go that easily unless it was something he wanted. 

Classes had been relatively difficult today. Snape's class not so much. Hagrid was a little more on edge than usual. He had us cleaning the dung beetle's cages and clip the wasp's stingers to give them to Professor Slughorn for potions much to Hagrid's displeasure. Right now you were about to head back to the common room to get ready for Slughorn's dinner party when Professor McGonnagal had asked you to stay after class. 

"Miss Hart, how are you doing?"-McGonnagal

"Good I think. What about you?" You said thoughtfully.

"What's on your mind Y/N?"-McGonnagal

"Oh nothing, was just thinking. I've had a good year so far. Normally I struggle. But I am happy" You said thinking about the quidditch team, Severus helping you out in quidditch DADA, and potions, and hanging out with Xana and Harry too.

"Well, I am glad Miss Hart. I have noticed a change in you too. I also notice that your grades are exceptional considering your extracurricular activities. If you would like, I believe we can start next Thursday after practice to start training you to become an animgus"-McGonnagal

"For sure Professor, I can't wait"-Y/N

"I also expect that we will be winning the house cup this year. If not, I revoke your animgus privileges"-McGonnagal

"You are serious about that are you?" You asked knowing she probably would go through on her threat.

"We'll see. Now go on, enjoy your rest of the day off"-McGonnagal says shaking her head.

"Okay, bye Professor," You said walking out of the classroom.

You walked on towards the common room. Passing by the dining hall you see Severus in the distance by the staircase. Perhaps he was patrolling the halls to make sure everyone was going to class. Severus sees you and his face lights up and a smile grows on his face. He looked like he was about to start striding towards you. But then Niklaus came into view and he looked determined with tension in his eyebrows, furrowing with a sharp look in his eyes.

"Y/N can I talk to you?"-Niklaus

"Um sure yeah, here or somewhere else?"-You said looking towards Severus and some other students walking around the hallway.

Niklaus catches your subtle hint and looks behind himself and notices Severus looking between the two of you. Severus more than anything looks curious and concerned, but that's it. Maybe he sees how worried you look and wondering why Niklaus seems upset.
