Lucina opened the door around ten the next morning to see Henry and Detective Martinez standing outside her house. “What do you want?”

“You’re appointment with the shrink is today.” Henry replied, though she could see a hint of unease in his eyes that confused her.

            “I don’t need a therapist.”

“You tried killing yourself.” Detective Martinez emphasized. “I will bring you there in handcuffs if I have to. You need to get your problems sorted out.”

Lucina glared at them defiantly but knew there wasn’t any point in fighting so, reluctantly; she followed them to the car. The ride there was silent as they passed by buildings and cars, she could tell Henry wanted to question her but had thought better of it. Lucina shuffled closer to the door and heard the audible click of the door locking, a glance towards Jo showed a warning look that told her the detective didn’t trust her not to try jumping out. She let out a mental sigh and curled her arms closer to her while continuing to stare blankly out the window, a shrink couldn’t help her… cops couldn’t help her… no one could. All it might do is cause more pain for her and too many personal questions being directed towards her without anyone to help her lie through it.

The car parked and Jo unlocked the doors. “We’re here.”

“Obviously…” Lucina muttered quietly to herself as she got out of the car.

Henry flanked her left side and Jo took her right as they walked into the building, in Lucina’s opinion it was a bit of over kill, she wasn’t going to run off on them there wasn’t anywhere she could go before they caught up with her.

“We’re here to see Dr. Farber.” Jo informed the secretary.

            “Lucina Mengele?” They asked.

            “Yes.”

“Dr. Farber can see you now.” The secretary replied after checking the computer for a few seconds.

“Come on, I can take you there.” Jo told Lucina and went to move her arm onto her shoulder but the girl flinched away.

“I… Sorry.” Lucina looked down at the floor with a grimace on her face.

            “It’s fine, that’s why you’re here.”

They walked down a hallway and Jo knocked on the door, Lucina noticed Henry tense up beside her, and a few minutes later the door opened to reveal Dr. Farber. “You must be my ten twenty.”

“This is you patient.” Jo moved back so Lucina was in plain sight.

The therapist’s eyes sparked with interest and he gave her a cold smile. “Well, I’m sure by the end of the session she’ll be more cooperative.”

“We can only hope.” Jo replied before turning to Henry. “Come on, we should go see what Hanson managed to get from Shay’s friends.”

“Right.” Lucina saw Henry give Dr. Farber a dark look before turning and following Jo. “Let’s finish this case… before another person dies.”

Lucina tried to slow her breathing as the tension rose between the two men for a moment before Dr. Farber turned and led her into his office, the last thing she saw from the hall was Henry cast a nervous look back at them before the door closed.

“Take a seat.” Dr. Farber pointed to a chair with his pen without even giving her a glance. “I will be asking you some questions and write down your responses.”

Lucina just looked at him with a bored expression and didn’t respond. Once the man was seated across from her at his desk he asked her the first question, which he asked in an emotionless voice. “What do you think your problem is? Why do you think you were sent here?”

Lucina thought about ignoring him for a moment but then decided against it. “Jo already told you.”

“That isn’t the point.” He waited for her to respond but after a few minutes it was clear she wouldn’t. Lucina heard him give a slightly irritated sigh before asking another question. “What makes you feel better about the cutting?”

“Not talking… more cutting.” Lucina drew her arms towards her sides.

“How often do you feel like you did yesterday?”

            “…All the time.” She whispered.

Dr. Farber gave her a small annoyed look. “That isn’t possible. Something must have caused it.”

“Nothing I will tell anyone, let alone a therapist, about.” Lucina replied scathingly.

“I’m sure they have all told you this, but I’m just trying to help you.” Something in his voice made Lucina cringe, she didn’t believe him; she didn’t believe anyone wanted to help. “Just tell me about your past.”

            “No.”

            “It could help.”

“You’ll have to torture that information out of me.” Lucina pulled her legs closer to her until she was curled up in the chair.

The look Dr. Farber gave her honestly scared her, it reminded her of how… no she couldn’t think of that, and if she did they might find out. Lucina could already feel her heart rate rapidly pick up as she thought of everything that had happened after her father’s murder.

“Lucina?” Dr. Farber gave a slightly alarmed look that still managed to look cold and unfeeling at the same time. “Calm down.”

Lucina tried to listen to the man but all she could think about was the pain, she felt something running down her arms and managed to look down to see blood seeping out from where her nails were digging into her skin, her vision flickered as she continued to hyperventilate and the last thing she could remember was Dr. Farber calmly standing up and leaving the room as she sank into darkness.
