Alia’s POV
“Wow, my SG called for the first time.” Bungad niya sa kabilang linya. His voice always sounds excited everytime. Nawala tuloy ang inis ko sa kanya.
“Uhm, by the way can I fetch you at lunch break tomorrow? It will be quick. I promise you’ll be back at school before 1:30.” Sunod-sunod niyang wika. Alam niya kasing alas dos ang klase ko sa hapon.
“Why? Babalik ka na ng Manila?” Sabi niya kasi Friday or Saturday pa siya makakabalik. Tomorrow is Thursday.
“My parents will go to Singapore for two weeks, anniversary kasi nila. I want you to meet them bago sila umalis.” Paliwanag niya. Bigla naman akong kinabahan.
“Are you sure?” I asked. Napatawa naman siya.
“It’s actually their idea. Sabi nga ni mama pag ayaw mo, pupunta nalang sila sa school niyo.” Saad niya.
“I guess, I don’t have a choice.” I said defenseless.
“Fortunately, yes!” he laughed.
“May kasalanan ka pala sa akin.” Sita ko para tumagil siya sa pagtawa.
“I don’t think that will ever happen.” He answered.
“Corny ka talaga!”
He chuckled at my remark pero tumigil din.
“Tell me, how much does the car costs?”
“Ahh, that. Don’t think about it.” He said dismissing the conversation.
“Dominic!” I said sternly.
“Okay, 1.58M.” he answered curtly. I drew a deep breath. I only gave him 300K.
“I told you, my budget is only 300K.”
A long silence followed.
“Alia, please let’s not talk about it. Money is never an issue. Besides you’re worth more than any million.”
I drew a deep breath.
“The happiness I feel when I hold your hand is way much better than how I feel when I hold a million bucks in my hands.”
This man really knows how to shock my system. Salita pa lang.
“Strawberry girlfriend, please don’t get mad. I was thinking how safe and comfortable you will be driving when I signed the cheque and not the amount written on it.”
He really knows what to say and when to say it. He is convincing that I cannot disagree more.
“Okay, stop. Ang corny mo na.” tugon ko. Although, I can’t see him, I know he is smiling.
“I wish I can hug you right now.” Wika niya. Napangiti naman ako.
“Tomorrow before and after lunch, you can.” I heard him chuckle.
“Nice.” Segunda niya. I said my goodnight before hanging up.
