Chapter 3
Joey's Pov
The school day was finishing, I had survived that Algebra test how I did on it was something I refused to think about right now. Today I had time to grab a milkshake and a few minutes with Anabella before I had to get to rehearsals with the band. Our producer wanted us to keep working on everything even when we weren't really working.
I walked with Anabella towards our lockers, " Milkshake?" I asked her.
She looked surprised as she turned to look at me," You've got time today?" she asked me.
"Only a little bit of time," I replied," I still have rehearsal so I can grab a milkshake with you and talk for a bit."
"Okay!" she said happily.
This was the first time all day that she seemed this excited about the prospect of having me around.
Could I win her over? I could buy her the milkshake and maybe see what she was thinking. We were just nearing our lockers when Heather caught up to Anabella.
"Ana!" she called out excitedly.
Anabella turned to her best friend and smiled," Hey!" she said handed me her books so that she could hug Heather.
"Man you guys act like you don't go to the same school," I grumbled holding my own books plus Anabella's.
"We don't get to have classes together!" Ana replied ignoring me now that there was another female in the room.
"Milkshakes right?" Heather was asking her.
"Yeah. Joey's coming with us today," Anabella told her.
"Okay but after that I need to talk to you about john," Heather told her quietly.
"Sure we can do that!" Anabella promised her.
The two of us took a moment to put away some stuff and get what we needed for homework, I had returned Ana's books to hers and she put them in her backpack. Once we had our backpacks backed with homework material, we headed towards the exit of the school building. Heather was driving us, and than I'd take the bus to get to rehearsals.

Heather's Pov
The car ride to get the milkshakes was filled with music and me and Anabella singing along to the radio and giggling. Whenever we got together we were always having fun. For the moment I had already forgotten about every crazy thing that John was doing to our relationship.
This is what I truly needed I needed to just chill out and have a good time with my friends.
My love life problems would resolve itself when the time was right for it, and right now it was friend time.
I found my favorite parking space outside the burger joint and parked the car, we got out and headed inside the restaurant to order our milkshakes. I always got a Vanilla shake, Anabella got the Strawberry and Joey got the Chocolate.
At the counter I paid for my shake and Joey paid for his and Anabella's shake, and that's when I realized that this kid probably liked her. As in like LIKED her, was he boyfriend material though? I glanced out of the corner of my eye at Anabella.
"Joey you didn't have to pay for my shake," she said softly to him.
"I know," he said casually.
I wondered if anyone else noticed that exchange the simple I'm paying for it no matter what you say. However the only other thing I noticed was another girl from our school, Bridget Stanley.
Bridget was on the JV squad at school and a nightmare, that girl was known for stealing other girl's friends and boyfriends. The kind of girl that I truly hated and never wanted to be associated with. I myself was the captain of the Varsity Squad this year but the JV Squad's captain was not very good at keeping her girls in line or even keeping them respectable. We moved down to the end of the counter to sit on the stools at the counter and wait for our shakes, the waitress there knew us since we came in all the time.
"Joey, are you ever going to tell me about this band of yours?" I asked him.
Joey looked at me," Oh," he said," Well yeah it's a bunch of guys."
I looked at him curiously," So it's a bunch of guys? and what?" I prompted.
"You and Ana can come to a show sometime and see what it's all about," he said to me.
"Awesome! I hope your band is good!" I said.
Within moments of me saying the word band, Bridget Stanley was walking over to where we were seated.
"Hi Joey," she purred, her make up was overdone just a little bit in my opinion it looked like she tried too hard with the highlighter. " I heard you're in a band."
I groaned softly, great so she had been listening I got the feeling she had been trying to listen in on our conversation.
"Maybe," Joey said simply to Bridget.
Our milkshakes had arrived and Joey's was in a to go cup, he picked up his straw to put it into his shake.
"Joey can I come see your band sometime?" Bridget asked him.
"It's not actually mine, I'm a part of it," Joey replied wishing Bridget would go back to her table or her friends or something.
"But you sing right? or play an instrument?" Bridget asked eager.
Joey glanced at Anabella and I felt bad, I knew he wanted to talk to her about something.
"Hey Bridget look it's Jonah Fox over there!" I blurted out. The captain of the football team four years running was Jonah Fox, he was a senior this year making it his fourth year as captain. There was just something about the guys on that team every year that voted him captain every single time.
I knew it was cheap move trying to distract her but she was crowding in on territory that wasn't hers. If anyone belonged beside Joey it wasn't her, it was Anabella. The two of them belonged together I could feel it as Anabella was removing the paper from the straw to put one in her shake.
"Jonah is so last year," Bridget said tossing her Ash Brown hair over her shoulder," This year its Joey."
Anabella had been sticking her straw into her shake and was instantly squeezing her fist around the paper of the straw tightly when Bridget spoke.
