Addison Pov:
It's been a week since Beckham has passed. And things have been different. Bryce has been in a completely different headspace lately. He hasn't allowed me to touch him. He doesn't look at me or even speaks to me. So to give him a little bit of space, I've moved into the guest room. I've cooked for the family and left food at Bryce's door when he hasn't come out. I've been helping Lisa make funeral arrangements as she wanted to bury him on the 27th. As I began to make breakfast, my phone went off.
Am: Hey Adds
A: Hey Amelie,
Am: If you don't mind, Blake and I want to stop by
A: Ya, come on. I'm making breakfast
Am: Okay
As she hung up the phone, I began to start on the pancakes. As I was making pancakes, Lisa walked downstairs and hugged me.
L: Darling, you know you don't have to cook every day.
A: It's the least I can do.
L: How are you and my son?
A: He's going through it. Just trying to give him a little bit of space. It's hard because I love him, and I want to be there for him. But I'm not what he needs right now.
L: Don't give up on him, sweetie. I know my son is a lot of work. But I also know he loves you more than anything in this world, and that's not going to change.
A: Thanks Lisa
L: Of course, I am going to pick up Bryce's grandparents. And take them out. Maybe you could try to fix things with my son
A: I'll try
As soon as Lisa left, I continued to make breakfast. As I finished, I walked upstairs to the guest room to shower and get ready. I am honestly just happy that this house had three extra guest rooms. Me taking up one right now meant there were two more left for Bryce's grandparents. When I pictured meeting Bryce's grandparents, I always thought we would be on good terms, but we weren't even speaking. As I was drying my hair, I heard the doorbell go off. I went to answer the door to see Amelie and Blake. They both pulled me into a hug. Then Amelie handed me some flowers, and as they walked in, Bryce walked downstairs.
I watched Blake walk over to Bryce, trying to see how Bryce would interact with him. But, their interaction was normal, so it must just be me. We brought the breakfast outside as it was nice, and we thought it'd be good to get some fresh air.
Bl: I'm sorry, Bryce. We wanted to come earlier, but I also wanted to give you a little bit of space.
B: Ya, I think space has been good for me, you know. But I am happy to have you here, Blake. I missed you
As we finished breakfast, the boys stayed outside to play some basketball. Amelie and I walked inside to do the dishes. As soon as we walked inside, I let out a long sigh.
Am: How are you, Adds?
As soon as Amelie asked that, I began to break down. I began to cry in her arms as she leads me toward the couch. She rubbed my back as I cried on her shoulder.
A: I can't keep staying here at Ame's. He doesn't look at me the same at all. I've moved out of his room, and I'm staying in the guest room right now. I've tried to be there for him. He doesn't come out. He doesn't eat. He only talks to his mom, and I get he's grieving. It's just I'm the one person he doesn't want to be around. Today is the most I've heard him talk in a week.
Am: Well, maybe you should come to stay with me for a while. And don't say you don't want to be an inconvenience because you are beating yourself up here, Adds. Maybe you need time away we could hang out with the girls get your mind off of things.
