Carrington and Bucky didn't leave the room that night, not a peep was heard from them. Everyone would check on them periodically, the last to visit the duo was Tony. He snuck into the room, seeing Bucky's arms still wrapped around her. Tony smiled, it was the first time he'd seen Carrington happy since she got here, and it's the first time he's seen Bucky smile. He closed the door and started walking back to his room.
"Mr. Stark, Fury is on his way to the building," J.A.R.V.I.S. chimed.
Tony's heart sank, he ran back into Carrington's room. Shaking her and Bucky awake.
"W-What's going on?" Carrington asked, still half-asleep.
"Fury's on his way."
Carrington looked at Bucky. She jumped up and looked to see what she was wearing. Jeans and a t-shirt. She looked around her room, she grabbed Bucky's jacket.
"C-Can I borrow this?" Carrington stuttered.
"Yeah, where are you going?" Bucky asked.
She threw the jacket on and grabbed her bag. He jumped up from the bed and grabbed her arm.
"You have to let me go Bucky," Carrington said panicking, "Don't make me do something I'm going to regret."
He looked her in the eyes. He didn't want to let go.
"Let me come with you," Bucky stated.
"Absolutely not," Tony said.
"Boss's orders." Carrington said.
She opened the window and slid down. Bucky and Tony both watched as Carrington ran off into the woods.
"Why didn't you let me follow her?" Bucky turned towards Tony.
"She's hiding something that we don't know," Tony said.
"Like you're not?"
Tony called a meeting. Everyone was down in the meeting area within 5 minutes. Mackenzie looked around for Carrington.
"Don't worry about where she is," Tony started, "We can't let Fury know she was here."
The room lit up with a purple tint, everyone's heads turned towards the wooded area. Mackenzie jumped up from her seat and ran outside. Bucky, Steve, Bruce and Nat followed in pursuit. Mackenzie stopped, making the rest stop as well. There, in the middle of the debris, stood Carrington; hands glowing purple along with her eyes. She was holding S.H.I.E.L.D agents in the air. Mackenzie ordered everyone to hide behind something. She could hear the rest of the team coming and hiding as well.
"Carrington, put them down," Mackenzie said softly, "You don't want to hurt anyone."
"Agent Banner, stand down," Fury said.
"Don't hurt her," Mackenzie yelled at him.
Mackenzie started walking towards Carrington, her eyes glowing bright. She looked at Mackenzie.
"I don't want to hurt you, please go." Carrington said.
"I'm not going to tell you again, Carrington, put them down."
Carrington wasn't backing down, and Mackenzie wasn't going to stand there and watch her friend get hurt. Mackenzie's hands started to glow blue. She grabbed ahold of Carrington's arm, and with a ball of light, Carrington pushed Mackenzie off.
"Mackenzie, I don't want to fight you," Carrington yelled.
Mackenzie used her super strength to grab ahold of Carrington, making her drop the S.H.I.E.L.D agents. They backed up and stood off a little. She pushed Mackenzie off of her and created a force-field with the glowing purple from her hands.
"Carrington, I'm not asking you to back down, and I'm not asking you to fight or to turn yourself in. Please, listen to me though."
Carrington's eyes darted around. First Mackenzie, then Bruce and Nat, now Thor, Loki, Tony and Fury. Then her eyes landed on Bucky. Tears filled her eyes. She didn't want to hurt anyone, and there was a soft spot in her heart for the Winter Soldier. Mackenzie followed her gaze and realized it was on Bucky. She waved him over, and he slowly approached Carrington.
"Doll, listen to me. You've got to calm down okay? I promise I won't let them hurt you."
"You don't know that for sure Bucky, you know nothing of my past."
"Carrington, please. I need you here..."
Mackenzie went to grab Carrington, and she dodged. The girls' powers collided making a big ball of light. Nat, Bruce, Loki and Thor went and checked on Mackenzie. Bucky and Tony checked on Carrington. Everyone pulled the girls' up to their feet. Carrington looked at Mackenzie and shook her head.
"I'm sorry," Carrington said, lip bleeding.
Mackenzie nodded her head at her. Carrington looked over at Bucky.
"I'm sorry," Carrington said, grabbing Bucky's vibranium hand.
Bucky kissed her, Mackenzie smiled. She was happy to see that her friend finally had a perfect man for her. Carrington smiled, she let go, and with a quick second. Carrington clapped her hands together once. A big ball of blinding light surged the whole crew. As soon as their eyes opened, they all looked around. Bucky looked at Mackenzie, tears in his eyes.
Carrington was gone.
