Alli's POV
I was in the flower fields with him, just reminiscing while randomly putting small flowers in each other's hair. It had been so long since we first became friends.
This boy with the cheeky smile, luminous amber eyes and confident personality, had now become a man with muscle, flexibility, and a head that bowed for no one. That doesn't mean he lost his smile and the light of his eyes. He still had those.
And me, the girl who was innocent, fiesty, and could run you through with her bronze tipped arrows at the young age of 7, had turned into a stunning soldier with a stone cold heart. A warrior when she fought. A goddess when she smiled. Kings across the ages have fallen for such a smile. A smile made to destroy worlds and then rebuild them. A smile worth dying for.
Me and Jaiden were 3 years apart, but it never felt that way. We were best friends. Still, there was an aura around us, one that couldn't be described but just never felt like it was one of a brother-sister-friendship kind of relationship.
I always knew it was like that, but I never questioned it or bothered about it.
My memories with him flashed before my eyes as I laughed and dropped delicate and colourful flowers in his soft, curly hair.
Iris messaging him while taking a break from homework late in the evening on a school night. Meeting him on weekends to just be a normal teenager and go to an arcade or the mall without worrying about monsters or gods popping up to kill us. Both of us running to our spot in the fields to hold each other after getting nightmares. Hiding from Will when we had done too many chores and were too tired to practice. Getting caught anyway and having to practice for longer for trying to get out of it. Him trying to teach me the keytar and me messing up every. single. time.
He was so very important to me, I'd never want to lose him. He stood by me even after I made mistakes and hurt him sometimes. I remember he'd pretend to be angry, just so I'd know the gravity of what I had done then hug me and cling to me, muttering, "just don't do it again, okay?"
We used to sit at the same table, we both broke the rule, Chiron honestly gave up at this point.
We both also played a lot of pranks on the other campers. With my magic, and his stupid but effective ideas, we were the unstoppable, invincible, troublesome misfits of camp half-blood.
Or at least, that's what Mr. D called us.
I held my hand out to help him up and he took it, dusting off his jeans. "So, who's the guy for today? Jake? Matt? Cole? some random name that isn't one of these common ones? who are we flirting with today?", he chirped, cheerfully. "Shut up. That guy, Claude, he's kinda cute, he was staring at me earlier today, I think I should get to know him.", I smirked, nudging him. "Ohhh, I think he's a son of Demeter or something.", Jaden said, nodding solemnly.
We walked all the way to dinner bickering about whether green or blue was better. "But green is like nature and stuff, there's so much stuff that's green, its a pretty colour", I yelled. "Yeah, okay, but blue is such a calm colour! its stunning.", he argued back. "Fine, at least we both can agree that black is better than both.", I said. "Yeah", he agreed.
Changing the topic, I actually haven't seen my mom in a while. She usually shows up in my dreams to lecture me or I dream of her appearing in front of my brother to tell him everything he's doing wrong with his life.
Speaking of my brother, I decided to iris message him and my soon to be sister-in-law. I seriously hoped I wouldn't catch them in the middle of a makeout like last time.
...But that's a story for later!
As counselor of the Hermes cabin, Jaiden couldn't be caught going out late (emphasis on 'couldn't be caught' as long as no one knew, we were fine) so he had to turn in early while I messaged my brother. He was eating with Faye. He looked annoyed to see me whereas Faye, as always, looked happy to see me.
"Hey! what's up? how's my favourite brother?", I said, cheerfully. Ah, that annoyed face was my reason for living. "I'm your only brother, Alli", Xander grumbled. "Lets not get into details", I said dismissively.
Faye laughed. "Oh, I've missed you, Alli", she said, in between her continuous laughter. "Yeah, I missed you guys too, that's why I called. How's the wedding planning and stuff going? I asked.
"Well, we picked out a date,", Faye said, "Its going to be on Christmas eve, so that Xander and I can spend Christmas on our honeymoon, together."
"Oh, god! yuck! don't talk about your honeymoon.", I yelled, shaking my head rapidly.
They laughed and we talked for a bit more. Annabeth and Percy were apparently preparing for the birth of their child and I was quite excited to see her at the wedding.
I went to sleep that night, hoping for dreamless peace.
