Jaiden's POV

I lay in my bed, looking at the beams across the cabin ceiling and feeling terrible, I was kind of dizzy and I felt...listless. As if I didn't know what to do anymore. But my job is never finished, so I just sighed heavily and thanked my stars that I had woken up early so that I could take a long shower and be alone with my thoughts.

I threw on a black t-shirt, and white shirt on top, but I was too lazy to button it up all the way so I just left the first three open and walked out into camp, ready for another day of me having no idea what was going on.

Alli was acting weird, though. She was sulking with her bottom lip stuck out a lot, she turned around in the other direction when she made eye contact with me, and she gave very passive answers whenever I asked her something.

Had Hali and I gone too far with this?

I tried to get it out of my head all day but it wasn't working. I wasn't able to shoot straight in archery practice because my head was in the clouds. After I had missed yet another shot, Alli apparently decided enough was enough and slapped me upside the head.

"Ouch! jeez, okay, okay, I'll try to concentrate.", I said, rubbing the back of my head. Alli nodded and walked off.

I had to focus, but it was so hard. Alli was one person, one part of my life among thousands, but my whole life was doing 360s because of her. Crazy, isn't it? That one person can be such a big priority and can be so important to you that you don't feel right if they're even a little unsettled.

Somehow, the day kept going on and I managed to occupy myself, but every few seconds I got, my mind wandered away.

I was sitting on my bunk, polishing my sword, when I heard a creak of floorboards and looked up. Alli was standing in front of me, fidgeting with her snake bracelet. "Er...Jaiden, um...if your not doing anything can we hang out? like right now."

"Sure, but Hali's been kind of lonely lately so could we bring her along?" As soon as I said it, I regretted it, Alli's eyes flashed and she stepped closer to me. I backed up but tripped over a pencil. Typical, everyone was always losing stuff in here. So now I was lying on the floor, completely terrified.

Alli crouched down, cracked her knuckles and slapped me several times. "How--could--you--be--so--inconsiderate--Jaiden--Carter! I--needed--to--freaking--tell--you--something-- And--trust--me--you're--with--Hali--all--the--time--there's--no--way--she's--lonely!", she shrieked, punctuating every word with a blow.

My siblings passing by paid us no attention, those traitors.

"Ow! why are you so angry today?", I asked. I already suspected it, but I wanted her to say it.

"BECAUSE I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU, STUPID! I'M JEALOUS! DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY TIMES WHEN YOU HUGGED ME OR PUT YOUR HEAD IN MY LAP, OR EVEN JUST  OUR EYES MET, I WISHED, I WISHED SO HARD THAT WE COULD DO IT AS SOMETHING ELSE, NOT HUG AS FRIENDS OR CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER AS FRIENDS, I LOVE YOU AND I WANNA DATE YOU, JAIDEN! JEEZ!", she burst out, punching me in my arm for good measure while she teared up.

I was speechless. My throat went completely dry. All that was going on in my head was excited screaming.

"Wǒ yě ài shàng nǐle", I said then shook my head, wrong language. "je suis amourex de toi aussi.", wrong again. Alli looked really confused. I took a deep breath, then tried again. "I love you too."

A smile slowly spread across Alli's face and I felt like the sun had peeked out of the clouds.

In a split second, she looked at my lips, and rushed towards me. I felt a surge of happiness as I felt her lips on mine. It still felt slightly confusing though, I hadn't ever really kissed anyone.

"You done?", I heard a deep male voice say. I opened my eyes to see Xander standing in the doorway, grinning.

"No we're not", Alli told him and pecked me on the lips again. Her voice had gotten hoarse now and that just made his knowing smile grow bigger.

"Now we're done.", she said and he walked in, to hug her. He hugged me, too. Me and Xander weren't really that close, but he was always quite nice to me since he knew I was Alli's friend.

Still, it was a little embarrassing to be caught like this.

"This might be a bad time, but look who I brought along with me.", Xander said to us, and right on cue, a tall boy with short, blonde hair and brown eyes walked in. "Hey Xander, I kept all my bags and-Oh my gods!

Me and Alli looked at each other and turned to him, our eyes lit with excitement. Cass was here.
