Alli's POV

Cass ran in and hugged to two of us tightly.

We all were laughing in our little group hug. Cass studies in New Rome, and we talk all the time, but he was super busy lately.

When we finally pulled away from the hug, he looked at us and then his gaze became more suspicious. He squinted and regarded us, leaning back a little and tapping his foot against the floorboards.

"You guys are so red...wait...are you...?", he trailed off, pointing his finger at me and Jaiden.

We glanced at each other, then quickly looked back at him, I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks. I looked at Jaiden, giving him a look like, "We dating or not?"

And since he can so brilliantly read my expressions, he nodded.

"Yes", I said, taking Jaiden's hand, "We're together."

The funny thing was that Cass wasn't even surprised he jumped up and down like a child who had just got his favourite cake and hugged us again, cheering. (He alternated between "I knew it!" and "Oh, I'm so happy for you!")

He might be the best ex ever.

He first asked of we kinda wanted to be alone...y'know. But we just shook our heads. What do you even tell your bestfriend who now became your boyfriend because you dramatically confessed to each other literally 10 minutes after it happened?

It was awesome, the three of us together again...

Seeing Cass again reminded me of how much he had grown since the day I met him. Sorry, I'm being too modest, correction: the day I saved him.

*Flashback* Narrator's POV

A boy crouched in the corner of a wooden room. He was out of breath, as if he had been...chased?

Some boys caught up to him, they grinned evilly. They kicked him. "Ha! you're a son of Nemesis! What good will you do anywhere? huh? I don't even believe it, why don't you do anything right now, huh? Are you sure you can hurt us? You sure you're even a demigod? so powerless."

A girl walked in, she looked younger than all of them. They backed into the wall. She looked puny, thin, with wavy black hair that came in her hair and a scruffy t-shirt. Her combat boots looked so heavy for her they made you wonder how she walked in them. But what scared them, was a dagger that she was using to file down her nails.

She finally spoke, smiling, and said softly, not enough to be heard outside the room, but just enough for them to hear. "Oh, this? this isn't mine, I borrowed it. I don't even know how to use a dagger. But before you get too excited, I've been contemplating, wait no, that's unfair, u wouldn't know such a big word, I mean, I've been thinking whether not knowing how to use this makes me more dangerous or less dangerous. I think I found the perfect people to test this on now."

They looked at her, clearly afraid. The boy was trembling. "In case you didn't get what I meant from my long, word-y speech there, I'll make this easier for you to comprehend, SCRAM!"

They scurried off, apologising profusely.

She crouched down to the boy's level with concern in her eyes. His eyes were still full of fear, but she didn't care. "Does this happen to you often? My name is Allison Garcia. My friend's call me Alli." She held out her hand for him to shake it.

He reluctantly shook it and mumbled, "I'm Cassian Moore. I don't really have any friends, but you can just call me Cass."

She smiled and said, "Hi Cass, do those guys bother you often?" He nodded.

"Do you have any family here?"

He shook his head.

"You don't talk much, do you?" He shook his head.

"Well, my brother always says that people tend to talk when they're more comfortable around others.", she said, sitting down next to him.

"You have a brother?", he asked, his voice hopeful.

"Yes, I'm here with him and his girlfriend. By the way, how old are you? You look older than me."

"I'm 10.", he replied.

"Oh! I have another friend who is 10, I'm just 7, but we both get along, we're both immature. I'm from Camp Half Blood. So are my brother and his girlfriend, Faye. Ooh! I just had an idea! Do you want to come to camp with us? I can talk to Reyna if you want."

He thought about it. Apparently he really wasn't fond of Camp Jupiter, because he quickly agreed.

*End of flashback*

He used to be so meek then, he's grown up a lot, I mused.

He and Jaiden got along so well, but I was still a little scared.

Me and Cass were in the past, my feelings for him between friend and boyfriend were just muddled up then. I was sure about Jaiden. I saw him in my future.

I think that's the most cheesy thing I've ever said, I need to go make a sarcastic comment-

But I'm serious, I genuinely love Jaiden, I have to try not to mess it up.
