Jaiden's POV
I had confessed to my best friend.
Ali was now my girlfriend.
I had to get my lazy ass up off my bed to face her.
And I was dreading it.
Now that I've stated the obvious, I have to tell you that I had no choice, and if it was up to me, I would be sitting under my blanket with a dopey smile on my face for the rest of my life, but Cass dragged me outside because, 1) I shouldn't be a total coward, she's more nervous than I am (plus, this isn't 6th grade) and 2) I'm the Hermes cabin counselor.
All I can say is, I hate binding duties.
Finally, after a lot of coaxing, I sat next to her on a bench for breakfast.
Thankfully, it really wasn't that awkward. I mean, okay, I'll admit she choked on her omelette when I carefully held her hand, but other than that, we managed to use our words around each other.
"How long did you like me?", she turned, green eyes looking up at me.
My heart skipped a beat (what? I was startled)
"Uhm- for as long as I can remember, I guess...I didn't come to terms with it until recently, but I was sort of suffocating till then.", I managed to reply.
"Well, then it's good that it's all out in the open.", she smiled, linking arms with me and resting her head on my shoulder while Faye 'awwed' and Xander smiled, but I could see he had this threatening look in his eyes. I had seen it in his sister's eyes a billion times. It was like, "Okay, this is good, you ruin this, I'll hurt you."
I'd like to say that worked out, but I'd be lying.
I went to the Nemisis cabin, 'cause I had to talk about something with Cass.
His siblings said he'd be there in a bit, so I flopped onto his bunk and looked at the board he had next to it with pictures of us.
We were legends for our pranks.
Cass was the one working braincell in our group, always making sure we didn't get caught or we'd just get let off with a warning for his "spotless" record.
Plus, others have done way worse, I'm sure.
But then, tangled up in his sheets I found a bracelet.
Alli's. Her dad had bought it for her a few years ago, and she hadn't taken it off since.
I was scared, I iced her out for days after that, it was...excruciating, to say the least.
I'm a complete asshole, I know, but think about it. They had a past, and what if it just wasn't over?
