"(Name)? Are you still here?"
Pearl exited her room, scanning the beach house's living room pensively. She hummed as her eyes fell on the floor, following the many papers that were scattered around, as well as a few markers and crayons. She smiles softly as her eyes finally reached your small form, which was hunched over a piece of paper. "Ah, there you are." She walked over you, chuckling softly. "Having steven teach you how to draw was pretty handy after all."
She chuckled again, before bending over slightly, squinting her eyes at the paper that was in front of you. "Hm... might I ask what you're drawing?" As she slowly reaches down, plucking the paper up, she didn't seem to notice your reaction as she looked at the paper, smiling at your handiwork. "Oh! What a lovely drawing this is!" She giggled softly, observing it. However, the more she looked at it, the weaker her smile became. "Oh... this is a picture of... you and your..."
Pearl frowned deeply, feeling her metaphoric heart break for you all over again. "(Name)... I..." she looked back down at the picture again, her mouth moving as she tried to find the right words to say. "I-" Before she could say anything, you turned away from her, the crayon falling from your mouth as you started to sob quietly to yourself grieve. Pearl frowned deeper feeling the heaviness in her chest return. She sighed heavily and knelt down beside you, resting a hand on your back. "(Name)... look at me."
Sniveling softly to yourself, you turn and look up at the pearl, feebly wiping at your cheeks. "I... I cannot apologize enough for what I've done to you or your mother... but please understand... this is for the greater good." You scrunched your muzzle at her, feeling heated scorn burn your face. You growled at her and scooted away from her, snapping your head back to face forward, hunching over as you sniffled and whimpered quietly to yourself in grief. "I understand you're upset with me still... but I promise you, you and your mother will feel much better once we figure out how to cure you..." upon not getting a reply, or reaction from you, she sighed again, but deeper. "If it makes you feel any better... I... understand how you feel."
"...Hru?" You look over at pearl, your grief slightly dimmed with interest as you turn over to look at pearl, who had her gaze on her lap. "I also lost someone I was... very close to." She turned her head away from you, bringing a hand to her mouth to hide a subtle crack in her voice. "It's an awful thing... seeing someone you love dearly, just disappear before you very eyes..." she inhaled deeply, clenching her eyes against her tears. "It... it hurts. It hurts bad. But... they both aren't... truly gone... at least... your mother isn't." She shook her head. "My point being is that... even if you face such a great loss.. you'll get through it. And sooner or later... you'll realize..." she takes a deep breath, her expression hardening in resolve as she wiped away any stray tears, looking back down at you with the most reassuring smile she can muster. Even with the effort, you saw she was clearly pained. "It's gonna be okay."
You grumbled softly, turning around to face her fully, to which she smiles. "I promise, little one. Everything is going to work out." After a moment of staring, you silently waddle into pearl's lap, and reared onto your hindlegs, placing your midarms onto her abdomen, eliciting a gasp of surprise. "Is something a matter, little one?" You looked up at her pitifully, and lifted your arms up to her, making grabbie motions with your paws.
It took her a moment or two to process your request, but once she realized what you wanted, her face lit up almost instantly, her cheeks flushing a faint blue. "Oh, little rosebud..." she chuckled, carefully picking you up under your forearms, and lifted you to eye-level. "I hope this means we're okay." You made a small purr noise and leaned forward to convey your answer.
She giggles lightly. "I'll take that as a yes."
