The return of the Marauders

Chapter 8

~Mary~

Frank walked up to Alice but found her terribly trying to flirt with Sirius. On the other end of the table I could hear James and Remus laughing.

Frank looked down at his feet then barely lifted his head up toward Alice,
"Alice, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have broken up with you. I was so stupid and I was just overwhelmed with my NEWTS coming up, I still know that I shouldn't have. And I'm not trying to make excuses because I know it was very wrong. What I'm trying to say is... I want you back. And I'll do better. I should have done better."

He was still facing the floor when he finished. Alice hadn't said anything and I could tell she was contemplating on what to do.

"I-I'm sorry Frank but, I'm with Sirius now." Alice could barely get the words out of her mouth. Sirius shifted in his seat. Frank brought his head up and looked between the two of them. You could practically hear the sound Frank's heart break as he turned away.

He was the one to break up with her so it's really his fault.

"Yay. Finally he gets a taste of his own medicine." Marlene said as soon as Frank was out of earshot.

"Yeah." Alice replied sadness in her voice.

~Sirius~

I could tell Alice still has feeling for Frank and that she was worried she made the wrong decision.

I leaned in close to her so that only she would hear me,
"You can still get back with him if you want."

She looked down and nodded.
"Thanks Sirius. I just... need to think."
"Yeah, of course." I reassured her.

"And whatever you choose make sure it's for yourself and not Frank or Marlene or anyone else." I had to make sure she knew that. With all the pressure that's on her she needs to choose what she wants and no one else.

"Thank you Sirius. You don't know how much I needed to hear that." And before I knew anything her arms were wrapped around my neck and her head was stuffed in my shoulder.

The rest of our table was silent and I knew they were all watching us but I didn't care. I had no idea how much Alice had been hurting. I guess you never know what friends are silently hurting around you.

She let go of me and sniffed.
"I just don't know what I want to do."

"And that's ok too. You just take all the time you need to think over everything." I told her and gave her a reassuring grin.

Lily came over and squeezed her,
"We had no idea Alice, we're sorry. You don't have to do anything you don't want to."
"Thanks guys." Alice had red circles under her eyes now and she sniffed some more.

"I'm so sorry Alice." Marlene said remorse in her voice.
"It's fine. This whole situation just has me a little worked up."

"Come on, let's go to the bathroom and fix you up." Mary said standing up. Quickly all the other girls stood up and went to the bathroom together.

As soon as all of them were far away James spoke,
"Are you sure you're only fake dating her Padfoot?" James then wiggled his eyebrows. Remus and Peter started laughing.

"Bloody hell can no one just talk to girls without liking them?" Sirius rolled his eyes.

"Well, Pads you do have a, um, certain reputation when it comes to girls?" Remus replied.

"Hey! Moony who's side are you on?"
He just shrugged.
"Whoever's side is most impactful for me in the moment?" Remus grinned.

Sirius lightly punched Remus in the arm and they went to there first class of the day, Charms.
