❝ A constant source of annoyance❞

Mikey truly was... a kind of 'One Kick Man'.

Laughter bubbled inside my chest once I recalled how he knocked Takemichi out with one kick wearing a straight face, and then continued to smile as if nothing happened.

"Ah, I got a bit out of control. It's absolutely hilarious, Takemitchy! Funny how none of it was true, haha. Right?"

Meanwhile, my car and I were on a date. Because I was one lonely bitch whose trips to the local departmental store were her only adventures. My stomach grumbled once I was reminded that I hadn't eaten anything in a day, because yesterday.... was completely tiring.

I was dealing with workload left and right, with Hina being a major help.

Heart eyes.

As I opened the car door, I spotted a familiar cat strutting its way around the trees lined up in the front. The sound of me stepping outside caught its attention, and rather than running away, like I'd normally experienced, it approached me. It was hard to find friendly cats... and on this fine day, I'd come across one. A smile made its way onto my face as I stroked its ears, melted by its cuteness.

"You look a lot like Mikey's cat."

But it couldn't be his, because as unlucky as I was, I knew I wouldn't run into him consecutively within the gap of a day. God did not hate me that much.

"Stop touching her."

Or maybe he did.

"Oh, it's a she."

"Get your hands off Skimbleshanks this instant."

I tried my level best to ignore his irking voice, focusing solely on his pet while she affectionately rubbed her face against my palm. I felt like I was going to pass away— I'd never received an interaction this loving from a kitty.

"Oh my God, he named you Skimbleshanks. You deserve so much better."

"I'm talking to you, hands off before I throw this entire box of Dorayaki on your head."

My face whipped to face him, and he was, indeed, clutching onto a whole box of Dorayaki, an angry expression on his face. A black jersey hung loose on his shoulders, his hair gathered in a bun. This attire made him look smaller than he already was. He talked a lot for someone who barely reached my shoulders.

"I'm sorry you have to see his face every day, Skim." I sympathised with her, as Mikey threatened to bury me 6 feet under in the background.

"Will you fucking leave?" His lazy eyes landed on my face. I got up from the ground, brushing my jeans as I headed inside, not uttering a word to him. It would be a waste of my already limited energy.

I stalled through the sections, selecting some of my favourite ramen noodles while making my way to the beautiful cashier I'd grown friendly with. She shot me a comforting smile, greeting me once I handed her the items.

"Yuzuha, what's up?"

"You haven't visited in a while, I should be the one wondering if you're alright."

"I've been drowned in work, and a bit... personal matters made it harder." I thought of all the running and pleading I had to do to apologise to someone I, still, very much hated.
