❝ To have fantasies about someone or something while one is awake ❞

"This is boring."
I thought getting a job would help me pass my time, and also, extra money didn't hurt anyone, but.... man. This was draining. To think I'd decide on a restaurant out of all places... the hell was I thinking.
There was no interview, surprisingly. They just, kind of, asked me about my age and stuff, how patient I was— I lied and said very— and shit like that. But I was already having a hard time blending the working hours into my schedule. The first day went peacefully enough, but ever since more people started coming in... this job started testing more and more of my patience.
I heard the door creak open, and already prepared myself to shoot an eye-blinding smile to whoever entered.
Hina.
The amount of relief I experienced was immaculate.
"Y/N!"
I smiled at her, letting my shoulders relax as I leaned against the counter, greeting her with enthusiasm. I truly needed a break from this tiring place.
"What's up with everyone? Do they still remember me or...?"
"Oh. About that.... I'll make sure to add you in the chat today, don't worry!" She smiled nervously, sparking my curiosity.
"What were you guys doing while I was gone?"
"Mikey was kicked out too, by the way. So you weren't alone—"
"You're dodging the question." I narrowed my eyes in suspicion, watching Hina's countenance break slightly.
"Um.. nothing, really. Just the usual stuff we always talked about. Also, let me talk to you about why I came here." Her smile turned more genuine as she changed the topic, her eyes twinkling.
"So you didn't come here to meet me? Wow... such a wonderful friend." I sighed, dramatically clutching at my chest.
"Shut up. Anyways, it's Baji's birthday tomorrow."
Something about her voice made me question why she sounded so... cheerful. I rested my chin on my palm, not sure what I was supposed to do with this information.
"Oh... good for him, I guess. Are we throwing a party or something?"
"Don't worry about that, he's the one who throws parties. I'm just letting you know that he asked me to invite you, although I'm sure he'd be sending you a text soon."
"He wants me to come!" I gushed, making Hina scoff.
"Is that all you get from it?"
"Of course. It's Baji we're talking about, he's so.... how am I supposed to bring the heart eyes emoji to life?"
"Y/N," Hina's tone turned serious, catching me off-guard. She usually enjoyed watching me like this, so the change in her voice was unexpected. "Are you serious about anyone? Any of the guy you're constantly flirting with?"
I felt the words disappear from my mouth, my brows knitted together in confusion. I'd never been... asked that before.
"I... I'm... not sure."
My mind was swarmed by a number of faces, and none of them... none of them managed to make me pause and wonder if I liked that person. Sure, I had fun spitting out pick-up lines at people, but I didn't seriously ponder over the consequences.
