CH.22

Ali's POV

"Alex it's time to get up." My wife says, rubbing my back. I groan and turn over on my back and open my eyes. "Hey there sleepy head." She says with a smile on her face. I rub my eyes and sit up. "What time is it?" I ask. "Six in the morning." Ash says. I flop back down on my pillow and bury my face in it. Ash chuckles and removes the pillow from my face. "Babe you have to get up. You don't want to be late for your first day of school." Ash says. "No. I don't, but why so early?" I ask. "Because highschool starts earlier and you have to drop Ryker off at daycare." She says. "Okay, you have a point." I say. I swing my legs over the side of the bed and stretch before standing up. "Don't I always have a point?" She says. "Sure honey." I say, kissing her quickly and pat her chest before walking into the bathroom. "What's that supposed to mean?" She asks standing in the door way. "Nothing dear." I say. "Mhmm, okay... sure." She says and narrows her eyes before walking away so I can use the bathroom. After I finish using the bathroom I take a shower and brush my teeth before heading back into the bedroom to get dressed. When I walk out of the bathroom Ash is sitting on the bed lacing up her boots. She looks up from her boots.

"After all these years you are still the most beautiful woman in the world." She says. "Babe I'm just in a towel." I say as she finishes lacing her boots. "I know, but no one rocks a towel like you." She says, walking over to where I am in the closet and wrapping her arms around me from behind, and kissing my neck. I turn in her arms and wrap my arms around her neck. I kiss her softly and sweetly before pulling back. "I have to go to work." She whispers close to my lips. "Okay." I say and kiss again. "I love you. Have fun today." She says. "I will. I love you too." I say and kiss her for the last time before she walks out of the closet. I find something to wear and put it one before putting a little bit of makeup on and my hair up in my signature bun. Once I've finished I go down the hallway and see if Ryker is awake. "Good morning Ryker." I say when I see he is awake and standing up in his crib. I lift him out of his crib and set him on my hip. We go downstairs and into the kitchen. I put him in his highchair and get to work on a quick breakfast for us. I give him some fruit and yogurt and some cheerios for breakfast while I have a parfait. "Is that good little man?" I ask as he eats his breakfast.

He makes a little squeal in response. After we finish our breakfast we head back upstairs so I can change him and get him dressed. Thankfully last night I got his diaper bag ready so that is one less thing I have to do this morning. After I get Ryker ready I put him in his carseat and put him in the car before running back inside to grab whatever else I need. Now that I have everything I start my car and pull out of the driveway and head to Ryker's daycare. When we arrive I grab Ryker's bag and take him out of his carseat before heading inside. After checking him in I say my goodbyes. "Bye buddy. Mommy loves you, I'll see you later." I say and kiss his head before handing him over to one of the workers. I wave to him and blow a kiss before walking out of the building and to my car. As soon as I get in my car I let out a breath and let a few tears escape before regaining my composure and pulling out of the parking lot and make my way to the highschool. On the way over I'm a pile of nerves. I don't think I've been this nervous since the 2019 world cup and that's saying a lot. When I pull in the parking lot I find a spot and park. I grab my things and walk to the front of the building.

Here we go. I blow out a breath and hit the button to be let into the building. I walk into the office and the secretary smiles kindly at me. "Hello, how can I help you?" She asks. "Hi, I'm here for the new coaching position." I say kinda nervous. "You're Alexandra Harris, correct?" She asks. "That's me." I say. "Follow me." She says and we walk into the principal's office. The secretary knocks on the door and the principal turns around and smiles. "Hello Alexandra I'm principal Diane Earl. It's nice to meet you" She says and shakes my hand. "Ali, please." I say. "Alright Ali, If you'd follow me I'll show you around the school before showing you your office." She says. We walk out of her office and she begins the tour. The tour takes a good fifteen minutes before she shows me where my office is. "Here is your office." She says and hands me the key. I unlock the door and walk in. The first thing I see is a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a card next to it. "That's pretty much it so I guess I'll leave you to it. We can't be more excited to have you join our team." She says. "Thank you Mrs. Earl." I say. "You're welcome." She says before leaving. I sit down behind my desk and open the card. "To our new coach." It begins. "We can't wait for our first practice with you, but we ask one thing: go easy on us please." I chuckle a little bit.
