Inexorable Encounter

Chapter 5

When my driver fetched me, I said goodbye to Zonic. We fell into silence which is in favor of my inner peace after I ended our topic about ex-relationships.

I felt sorry at Zonic because he was fooled and cheated on. You don't know how your mind will attack you, questioning your worth, asking yourself if you're good enough, and if you deserve to feel that pain. Fortunately, that is not my situation. It was different. So close yet far. I was hurt, but not because of literally cheating. And that memory was buried already ten feet underground. I hate people digging into someone's past.

Yurie told me that their house hasn't clean yet when I asked her so she doesn't want to welcome me because she knows that I hate uncomfortable places. I admit that I don't want in their area, it's a squatter area, and I can't handle squatter people right now because I didn't bring any of Leon's bodyguards.

I throw myself on Frances' comfy bed. "Thank you for welcoming me, Frances," I sarcastically greeted her.

She chuckled while busy facing her laptop. "It's unnecessary." Teasingly, she replied. "You're not new to my home. You're no longer a guest here."

I made face at her and rolled my eyes. "What are you doing?" I asked with curiosity.

"Finding boyfriend." Then she giggled so I disgustedly looked at her.

"Iw! Desperate!" I exclaimed hysterically.

"Iw," she copied my reaction. "Bitter!"

I rolled my eyes when she laughed.

"Love is unbelievable, Isa," she said. "Why don't you try so your life wouldn't be bitter like this?"

I rolled my eyes again. "Magsama kayo ni Xyra." I hissed. "Both of you were fooled by the disgusting 'love' and 'destiny'."

"Xyra what?"

"Xyra Legazpi."

"Oh!" she reacted while nodding. "She's the bestfriend of Jade Vermulo, right?" I nodded. "So what's with her at pinagco-compare mo kaming dalawa?"

I lifted an eyebrow and rolled my eyes. "Seriously?" I asked, shaking my head. "I will never compare you to her!" I hissed. "You may be a model and not an actress, but-" I emphasizes the last word. "-she's nothing compared to you."

"Aw," she dramatically reacted that made my eyes roll. "You're so sweet, Isabel." Then she smiled sweetly.

"Can you just please-"

She laughed out loud that made me stop from speaking.

"Oo na, napipikon ka na," she happily surrendered. "So pft-" She cleared her throat, then became serious. "So what's with her?"

I rolled my eyes before continuing my story. "She's with the reunion I attended and when the topic is about that iw relationships-"

"She asked you?"

"Did you just cut me off?" I irritably thundered.

She slowly shook her head. "Proceed, Isa." She even smiled widely.

"Aries Aguada asked me if I have a boyfriend so I answered him honestly na that's not my thing-" She nodded "-then that Xyra included the topic about love, relationship and destiny. She even told me na huwag akong magsalita ng tapos? Ha! Akala mo kung sino!" My mouth formed a straight line and my eyes squinted, then I exhaled. "And what's funnier is that she even made an issue about me and Zonic Barcelon. We're seeing each other daw dahil lang nagkasabay kami?" I rolled my eyes. "She's hopeless."

"I'm sure makakarating kay Jade ang pagkakita sa inyo ni Zonic," she assumed.

I shrugged. "I don't even care." I rolled my eyes. "She's the cheater so don't blame me." I shook my head. "I told you, love isn't real. It's fake and let's face the reality," I stated. "We don't need someone to lean on, you know? We should normalize not needing anyone other than us. We must rely on ourselves."
