Marcus
You could hear the encampment before it was in view, and smell it as well. It didn't have the smell that most human villages did, no it was more of an oil and steel smell mingled with sweat from the men training. Scouts saw us before we got to the gates and upon our arrival we had a small gathering. Julian was there with Dameon and Cassandra, who held a sneer as she noticed Lydia and I holding hands. I looked at Lydia who wore a death look as she gazed back at Cassandra. Cassandra broke the stare first and Dameon began to laugh."What's the matter Cassandra? Does the Beloved not bend to your whims?"
Cassandra growled and stomped off, my Lycan telling me to be on guard with her. Julian walked forward and kneeled before Lydia causing her to smile. She removed her hand from mine and knelt down in front of him. With her hands on each side of his head she brought his face to look into hers. A growl escaped me to which Caden and Alaina chuckled. I cleared my throat as Lydia spoke to Julian, but her voice was not her own, it was overlaid with what sounded like thousands of voices.
"Well met are we King of the Lycan's, well met are we holder of peace, well met are we slayer of darkness. Kneel not before us, we are kindred and therefore apart of one another. Luna blesses us with the strength to stand for those that can not. Know that she is satisfied and shines with pride with the man you have become."
Tears spilled down Julians face as she placed a kiss on his forehead. When she pulled back a smile graced her face and she said in her own voice
"It is nice to finally meet you, Marcus has told me much."
He smiled and stood holding a hand for her and when she stood he hugged her
"It is good to finally meet you as well. I feel as though the other half of my soul has been found. It is as if you are my counterpart ."
I was tense with his words and continued to stare at my feet, hands fisted at my side. Caden walked over to me and told me to look at the look that passing between Julian and Lydia, it is the same look he gives Dameon. As if my thinking her name summons her she touches Lydias face.
"I thought I would never see you again my dear sister, had Luna but told me she had sent your soul away I would have been prepared to see you again."
Julian gasped as did we all when Lydia smiled
"But Dameon if she told you I wouldn't have had as much fun seeing your reaction. And honestly before coming here and seeing the two of you I did not know. "
I walked up to Lydia and took her face in mine, as I looked from her to Julian I saw the resemblance.
"The girl, the girl Sol's followers took away, she was your twin? Julian why didn't you..."
"Tell you? Because Marcus I thought she was lost. She was dead before they came for her. She was so little, I didn't realize she had Luna preform a soul transfer. We thought her gone, I lost a part of me that day, I hated Sol and his followers. "
He turned to Lydia anger in his face and tears streaming down his cheeks.
"Why did you leave me?"
Then Luna was there hands clasped on Julians face, the whole world went silent as we all took in her glory. She was see through, not at her full strength since the sun shone in the sky. To think seeing the Goddess twice in one day. Her voice was soft and soothing as she spoke
"Because the beast slayed her before he went for your parents. She was in the garden when he found her. She called to me and asked me to make sure you would not hurt. She cared not for her life but for yours and your sister. She made me promise to care for the two of you, she swore you two were special. For her sacrifice I gifted her soul to another, I brought her here to mend what has been broken and for this world to once again thrive. Sol's followers have grown and become deadly once more. I need the King whole to fight."
Julian nodded and she kissed him , she smiled with her lips on his. Cassandra was seething from where she stood at her tent. Luna paid her no mind.
"I will wait for you, the day you come to me will I rejoice. You will then forever be by my side....my mate, my love"
The last part was whispered and only Julian, Lydia and myself heard and as she left we all were left speechless. The silence lasted a few moments when Lydia looked at me. She grabbed my hand and brought it to her face, I did not hesitate to run my thumb across her cheek.
"I am yours Marcus. And only yours."
I smiled and brought her lips to mine. Julian cleared his throat and Cassandra's growl was heard through the camp. As we broke our kiss Julian looked towards his and Cassandra tent.
"I may as well try to salvage this."
He sighed and made his way over as Dameon filled the spot he was. Her blinded eyes held unshed tears as she looked at Lydia.
"I've missed you."
She whispered and then Lydia was holding her as Dameon clung to her and sobbed. I never knew this would be a family reunion, I barely remember Julians twin, only that she was a brat and bossy, but she always fought any who picked on her siblings. The day her and her parents died was a horrible day, a day filled with death and a promise of vengeance sworn. After introductions were made we headed to our tents but Lydia stopped and looked over to the lake the encampment was around. Playing in the shallow waters were children from the slaves and human followers. I knew who she was before Lydia took a step. She was at least 16 with hair as white as snow, her tan skin radiated and the glow around her was obvious. The children gravitated to her and she was warm and welcoming to all. She noticed Lydia walking towards her and when the kids saw this they all gathered around her protectively.
"I will not hurt her I promise, and I do believe she knows this as well."
The girl smiled and comforted the children as she closed the distance between Lydia and herself. I noticed Caden, Alaina, Julian, and Deamon fall in step with me as we made our way over.
"It is good to meet you Beloved. Luna told me you would be coming soon. I do believe I have a job to do."
As she spoke from my peripheral I saw one of the younger scouts run towards the girl. He stopped short as Julian,Caden, and I turned to him. The poor boy was torn between rushing to her and kneeling before his King and Betas. She smiled at him and he kneeled but kept his eyes glued to her.
"Come here."
The boy flinched at Julians command and made his way to him. During this time another girl the same age came behind the first and held her arm.
"Gia is this who you spoke of?"
Gia had her eyes on Lydia as she spoke.
"Yes Vera, she is."
Lydia smiled at the girls and then noticed the boy.
"Are these two who you have chosen to be your guardians?"
Gia smiled and nodded a yes to Lydias question. She turned to the young scout
"What is your name?"
"Alaric Beloved."
"And why have you chosen to be a guardian for Gia?"
Alaric looked at Gia with love filled his eyes, Gia smiled and held her head down trying to hide her blush.
"Because I love her Beloved. I do not care that she holds a slave title or that she is human. Gia is perfect and my Lycan calls to her."
Lydia smiled and turned to Julian whose smile mirrored hers. She waited for his slight nod and turned back to Gia.
"Come here child."
As they closed the distance they grasped hands and were encased in light. They were both responding to questions someone was asking, I'm sure it was Luna herself. As the light went away Gia stood taller and with tears running down her face she nodded and then hugged Lydia.
Julian looked towards Caden and myself mind linking us to choose 10 soldiers to go with these three to the nearest temple. 3 out of the 12 have been found.
