Marcus~~

This village was like the rest, dingy, damn near uncivilized, and distinctly human, though these humans at least smelled clean. When only two of the three scouts returned and told us of what happened, especially about the Beloved, it took everything I had not to leave the rest and come here. The elder sat us up in the best room in the village and invited us to eat with them. We obliged only because we could get to the temple before dark and from there to the witches home.
"Sooo a Beloved, do you think it's true? And a human?"
I looked at Caden and growled to which he only laughed. I didn't want him anywhere near the witch, I don't know why but the thought pissed me off. I shook my head and brought myself back to the here and now. Serving us were beautiful women all whom flirted excessively. Caden missed no opportunity to touch and flirt back. I'm sure he'll have no problem finding one to warm his bed tonight.
"Elder, when will this be over? I mean no disrespect and the food is delicious but I'd like to be to the temple before nightfall."
The elder nodded and asked for a young man to come to the table.
"Take these two Betas to the temple please, I would go gentlemen but my eyes are not so well when night falls."
We both nod understanding, once our meal is finished we follow the young man to the temple, bringing along the two scouts. The third scout met us at the temple with a small child in his arms. Caden looked at me funny but I felt the blessing the child held. As we got closer the scout banged his fist on his chest, the girl rubbed the spot he hit confused making his expression soften.
"I am sorry my Betas for not returning but I felt that I should stay......I need to stay with this child."
Caden looked perplexed but I understood.
"She has chosen you as a guardian hasn't she Nile?"
He nodded and looked lovingly down at her. She on the other hand stared at Caden and I seriously.
"Better be good to my Laina and Dyia. They special, you need them like they need you."
My heart beat faster and I bowed my head to accept her blessing, Caden following suit. She clapped her hands while laughing and as Nile held her she kissed us both on the top of the heads. Immediately I understood that she was chosen, Lunas love ran strongly through her. I exchanged a look with Caden
"I would like Nile, Caleb, and Micole to stay with her, I will feel better with three Lycan here."
He nodded agreement and took the three aside to give them new orders. After that was done a man named Eric approached us.
"If you would please follow me, I can show you the way to where A-mah lives"
Caden and I exchanged confused looks and then stared at the man, boy more like, he couldn't have been more than 20.
"A-mah?"
I asked quizzically and then the female who was introduced as the child's first guardian stepped up hooking her arm into his.
"A-Alaina sir, w-we call her A-mah"
"Ahh, then let us proceed, it's getting darker and we have quite a bit to speak about."
The girl hesitantly kissed Eric's cheek and then ran back over to the child. Eric cleared his throat and began walking. It took almost 2 hours at the pace the human set for us to reach the cottage. Suddenly he stopped at the edge of the woods and inhaled sharply quickly turning his back to the cottage. I looked at him confused and then heard Caden's appreciative whistle. I looked up to find a woman, naked, standing under the moon, arms wide by a bathing pool. None of us spoke as we watched her bring her arms down. She was short, long black hair, beautifully plump in all the right places with skin the color of milk. She looked so much like Luna just with more meat on her bones. As her hands came to her side she slowly looked over her shoulder at us, and then she had Caden against a tree, standing on her toes with a knife to his throat.
"Miss Lydia, pl-please theses are the Betas. Please calm down."
Eric refused to look at her, Caden's eyes were wide with how swiftly she got there. I couldn't keep my eyes off of her, my heart sped up and my palms became sweaty.
"Hello witch."
I breathed out to which she looked over her shoulder smirked and replied
"Hello Lycan."
She released her position and winked at me and was suddenly at the door of the cottage.
"We'll come along, Alaina isn't patient and we have much to discuss"
She shouted at us before walking inside. Eric still refused to turn and I placed my hand upon his shoulder.
"Thank you, you can go back now."
He nodded thanks and ran off. Caden looked at me with a twinkle in his eye which made me growl.
"Whoa there tiger, I can admire. And she is unclaimed so ther....."
"Shut up Caden before I rip your throat out. Do NOT touch her."
He looked at me confused and then shrugged his shoulder.
"Come on LYCAN before we irritate the old hag."
As the words old hag left his lips the tone changed almost as if saddened. I let it pass and we walked to the cottage. Once at the door we stopped respectfully and waited for admittance.
"Oh stop standing on attention and get in here, this ale won't drink itself and Lydia is dressed."
The voice didn't sound like an "old hags" voice, from what I had gathered Alaina was almost 123, wrinkled, hunched over with long silver hair. Before I could move Caden brushed past me and then stopped in the middle of the cottage. His heart was beating so loud I could here it from where I stood. I walked in to find a beautiful young woman with the eyes shouting out that they belonged in the body of someone much older.
"Caden...."
She breathed his name and then he was there touching her face.
"You left me Alaina, alone, saying you would age and refused to burden me. I was told you grew older, why have you deceived me?"
His tone was sad but harsh and his thumb stroked her cheek as they stared into each other's eyes. I remember long ago, before Julian made Caden his second Beta, that he had found his mate. Tragedy hit and no one knew what had happened, only that Caden turned into a man whore and closed himself off. The seer Daemon refused to tell anyone what she knew, but now it all made sense, except for the old hag not being an old hag.
"It seems Luna has a twisted sense of humor Caden. I did age and when Lydia showed up I was ready to pass on the knowledge of the bearers, or witches, and finally die. But Luna decided that Lydia would serve as her Beloved and I, well I would serve as the last bearer. So here I am, with a beautiful young body, the soul of an old crone, and to top it off we are both eternal. Isn't that just perfe.."
He silenced her by kissing her, she went to pull away, and Caden growled and pulled her closer. After a few short seconds she laced her hands around his neck and returned the kiss. While this was taking place a dressed Lydia had made her way to me and tapped my shoulder.
"Let's leave them for a moment....come, you can walk me to the meadow."
She didn't wait for an answer, just brushed by me, her scent enveloping me, and walked out the door. I took her advice and quickly caught up to her, I had to slow my steps so that she could keep pace with me. She was so small, I'm sure she was normal in human standards but her head came to right below my shoulders. We walked close in silence until we reached a beautiful Lavender field illuminated by the moons bright loving glow.
